The only thing better than wanking sports fans is the wanking in the locker room...
So, there was a football game last night. A pretty big one, actually, if you're a fan of college football. UT beat USC in the Rose Bowl.

Longhorns and Trojans continue to duke it out online.

Stitch3424, in ncaafootball, posts some mildly amusing pics. This offends sarakat, a USC fan for 20+ years: "Posts like this are why I, for the most part, have been silent on this board."

Additional highlights:
Stop blaming the refs! They're people too!
Football is a mockery of the academic atmosphere.
School spirit = fascism.
You're just jealous of USC.

And my favorite: "And Trojans are so much cooler than longhorn cows. Cows are dumb. Yeah, yeah, they give us leather, steak, fertilizer, milk and milk related products, but Trojans give you pleasure." Someone's got thier priorities right.

It was a helluva game and Texas earns full kudos for the win, especially their quarterback who literally won the game for them.

And I'm not even going to bring up the notion that the Trojans failed with inches to go and the game on the line.

I have to admit.. as a PSU fan, I hate Nebraska for stealing our 1994 National Championship but I rooted for them against Michigan. LLLLLloyd Carr gets just that much more hatred from me.

This is college football not tennis... When your team loses expect the other teams fans and fans of teams that don't like yours to celebrate.

Because being a jackass and insulting the other team is a form of celebrating? I mean, I can understand not liking a team, but last I checked, you can celebrate a team winning perfectly well without going on about horrible the other team is.

But then again, I am just a tennis fan, so maybe I just don't understand.

I ♥ football with a zeal that is unholy, but I mostly stick to pro football. I admit to frequenting the losing team's message boards the day after a game to laugh at the splooge, but I've never joined in.

...wait. What was my point again? Oh yeah - what.the.fuck.

it saddens me that fans feel the need to tear other teams down.

Since when do fans of the opposing team not do this? Maybe not to this degree or to their faces, but really! Am I in an alternate universe, or something?

Over on the UCLA lj there was a minor squabble over whether or not it's right to celebrate SC losing, since it means the Pac 10 lost. The "bros before hos" argument, as it were.

Personally, and I say this as a UCLA student, why the hell should I care?
