Wank begets more wank.
This is only a potential wank in its early stages of progress, but I wanted to make a record of it as early as possible, because it's kinda amusing to see these "live," at the very moment they happen:

Some of you might've noticed in some of the replies that it made it onto LJ Drama as well.

Well, it turns out that the person who did the writeup was DL aka Quasidan, who is well known to always make comments in such a manner as to rile up the readers, regardless of whether he actually honestly believes what he's saying or not. So naturally, his summary of the story is chock full of digs at the whole concept of fanfiction writing in general.

The thing to keep an eye out for here is the replies, as people have started to take the obvious bait and begin politely attempting to edumajacate DL and change his mind. Watch as other people come in to bait them some more by writing deliberately inflammatory statements such as: "Even good fanfic is fucking stupid. People should come up with their own material instead of plagiarizing someone famous." With material like this, it's only a matter of time before someone's temper blows.

Like I said at the beginning, this hasn't reached wanktastic levels yet, but hey, the original LJ Drama post is only a day old - let's give it a break, shall we? During the wait, I recommend perusing the replies from some of LJ Drama's past entries - there is much, MUCH wank to be found there, and the melodrama and stupidity shown by some folks is sometimes even bigger than what the original submission was.
