No More One Big Happy Weasley Family
Gacked from a mouse on Wank Report. What happens when R/Hr shippers and H/G shippers fight?"

A short but amazingly passive-agressive wank. People are "offended" that H/G is left off Author-By-Night's list of canon pairings. My favourite line comes from [info]rhrsoulmates: Thank you author_by_night for at least admitting you weren't doing it against H/G shippers because we see too much of that around the fandom.

And here I thought it was the Harmonians being persecuted.

ETA: Some mice didn't think this was wanky enough for their tastes so they brought their own wank. Here and Here, most of it, and it's being discussed on [info]wankitywank here. Have fun.

I don't see the wank in this one. It sounds more like a genuine "thank you" for not being motivated by unreasonable H/G disgust/hatred, which is rampant in the HP fandom. Is it any wonder that our backs get up and we get defensive awfully quickly? However, if you read the rest of the conversation beyond the snippet quoted here, you'll see that the issue irons itself out and is resolved in pretty much a non-wanky way.

H/G shippers are not claiming oppression or persecution, but we sure as hell are staking a claim to be the most hated "canon" shippers in the Potterverse.

"Oh noes, someone doesn't like my ship, wah wah wah"

Shut the hell up. What on earth do you want, absolute and total adoration?

No, just an acknowledgement that its canon...people seem to be denying that one an awful lot.

It annoys me so much. I've always been ambivalent to it, but now that I've become an H/G shipper I'm noticing that everyone haes it.

Pot, meet kettle. One shouldn't mocking whining then go whine in the same thread. This fandomland truly shits on itself regularly. Thankfully most of its fans never see this level of stupidity.

It's canon. Still sucked, though.

Happy now?

We acknowledge it as canon. I've never met anyone who hasn't. What we won't do is love it. We acknowledge that it sucked, and that it distorts two perfectly good characters, bringing out the worst in both of them. But there is more to life than shipping, and more to ships than being or not being "canon." Each to his or her own, I say.

No, it's the people who say it distorts their characters who are distorting their characters! Dude, read the canon again, like Jo said. She KNOWS her characters. If you think she distorted her own characters you've obviously been reading too much (bad)fic.

It was a thing of beauty and joy forever.

Or at least several sunlit days. LOL!

There, there, now.

The only unforgivable sin in fandom is turning out to have been right all along. Based on this, the H/G shippers are damned for all time.

Yeah man, the poor majority being persecuted by that horrible minority. There's definitely no place on the ENTIRE internets that they can discuss their pairing, like a closed LJ comm, or various websites and threads on general sites.

Oh, and it's not like H/G has the books to take solace in when the whole cruel world is against them. Oh, wait...

Funny only certain H/G shippers seem to have this problem, then. Not the people who predicted H/G but didn't care for it one way or the other. Or the ones who called other aspects of canon or ships that others didn't (yes there actually are other things going on in the plot besides Harry and Ginny hooking up), yet I just don't hear the cries of their oppression quite as loudly. (What about the R/Hr people? Aren't they oppressed too?)

Dude, I'm all over loving the OBHWF, but it gets wanky when people start getting their backs up about fictional teenage relationships. The fact that they wanked politely into a tissue does not mean that there wasn't splooge.
