grayunderpants sure doesn't get it, does she? Granted i don't read manga but i never realized that they were packed into such specific categories as 'gay', and that it was a hard and fast rule and therefore was not allowed for anyone to interpret it as gay if it wasn't officially labeled that way.

I'm not criticizing, I'm saying I get annoyed when BL is called something out of context. If it were written by gay people for gay people, I wouldn't care if it were termed gay. It wouldn't stop me from reading it, and I would be totally aware that I was not the intended audience for it. It does bother me when gay guys think "she's weird for liking gay manga" when I read BL.

So things aren't allowed to be called gay, EVEN IF they have boys snogging in them...unless they were written specifically by and for a gay audience?

Note to the Audience: You get no say in how you interpret a manga! No calling it gay unless they TELL you it's for gays, okay? Well if someone goes with the Yaoi-con* description of Yaoi, grayunderpants is somewhat right. Yaoi is written by women for women, and it's not "gay porn" (in the sense of what you find on a porn site). But to say that a boy cant read it, is just plain stupid.
