HP Fandom: All Your Socks Is Belong to Us
The Harry/Ginny, Harry/Luna, and Harry/Hermione shippers have been having an interesting time lately. You see, there was this troll named obhwfiscanon who went about trolling other shippers' LJs with H/G sentiments. Her H/G seemed rather pasted on and very few people actually believed she was sincere, though a few of her targets were upset at being harassed. ETA: I've deleted the examples of her trolling because the target turns out to be under 18.At last, s/he confessed to being a troll. And guess what her plan was? To get on Fandom Wank as an example of an insane H/G shipper! She'd been trying for two months or so and couldn't get anyone to take her seriously enough.

At this point, harryandmione63 who DID get on Fandom Wank twice for being a crazy Harmonian - though a lot of wankas called troll, congratulations to you guys - decided to reveal herself as a troll too! ETA. Her real LJ is retort and she explains her motivations here.

But was it out of remorse/boredom that obhwfiscanon surrendered, or was it because obhwfisnotcanon was on her trail?

You see, the mysterious obhwfisnotcanon launched a treasure hunt:

obhwfiscanon is the latest 'satirist' to play with the HP fen. Despite delusions of grandeur aspirations of achieving infamy at Fandom Wank, her greatest achievement seems to be to have sparked some interest in just who she is. Well, I know. Go me! And you can too...

For just the price of a little time and exertion of brain power, you can follow the crumbs to the gingerbread house. If the troll gets hungry and licks up the morsels before we're done, I have lovely copies of pertinent journals and FAP pages in the pantry.

So, off we go. Just remember, like all great masterminds enamored of their own genius, sock puppets can rarely resist having their alternate identities (in some form or fashion) participate as enthusiastic audience members.

And off it went. obhwfisnotcanon starting dribbling out the clues and got the fandom searching for the identity behind obhwfiscanon.

Now, the final story is summarized in obhwfisnotcanon's latest entry, complete with timeline, and people seem to agree that the evidence is pretty good. That obhwfiscanon is also azathotha: an H/L shipper who hates H/G, and Eleanor Rosier/therosiergirl, a fan who claims to hate shipping wars and like H/G and H/L equALLY.

The alleged alternative identities, however, are wanking like anything. Azathotha here is heartbroken that she's been kicked out of the anti-H/G communities and accused of being a troll. To quote my favourite bit:

You know what? You don't have to kick me out of the community. I'm leaving. I can't believe you believed every word they said about me, and didn't even try to defend me on obwhfisnotcanon's journal. Some of you even declared support for me in anti-h/g and then went and bitched about me there. I don't want to be part of your so-called 'community' any more, and if you guys bug me, I'll tell Prongssr about the terrible thing Heron_advocate and Guza did.

I'm disgusted that you would believe such ridiculous lies- just because I have an icon made by hippiegirl8 and I live in the same country as Obhwfiscanon doesn't mean we're the same person! I'm off to hate H/G on my own without a bunch of whiny losers who can't find anything better to do than make fun of the questions at the Orange Crush thread.

I can do a better job of hating H/G on my own. And I DON'T need to friends-only my journal like a coward.

I'm unsurprised to see that so far everyone is cold- I covered my tracks better than that, guys :P If you want to know the truth, you might want to try... well, I wouldn't tell you that now, would I? But signatures are a clue.

And you H/G shippers who keep arguing about this thing in locked posts you think I can't read? That's the best form of entertainment of all. I came out and told you guys I was taking the piss, but I didn't say who I was taking the piss OF. >:D

ETA 2: The plot thickens. A mouse has the text of a deleted comment heron_advocate made to azathotha's LJ, confirming that there is something Heron Advocate and Guza did that Azathotha could out them to prongssr about.Here.

ETA4: And we get an answer (of sorts) to one of the "Huhs?" here. The "terrible thing" seems to have been sharing a f-locked post and the participants are sorry about it. Up to them all to work out, I guess.

azathotha joined FAP to prove she was a different person from the Eleanor Rosier and obhwfiscanon identities, who've also joined FAP some time back. And she posted about it on her LJ: I Like FAP.

Then the previously silent Eleanor Rosier/therosiergirl shows up on obhwfisnotcanon's LJ and posts: Whoa, whoa, slow down! Just WHAT the shit is it I'm supposed to have done here?

How unfortunate that they gave you a mask that has a rather busy history, including being banned from editing at wikipedia.
