Wank in the BJD Fandom, cleanup on aisle 4! Ohhh, doll fandom. How you DRIVE ME BANANAS. You see, in the Ball-Jointed Doll fandom (and probably in the jrock fandom as well, though I'm not a part of that one), there are lots of people who fetishize Nazis, especially the uniforms. Nazi uniforms are also apparently very popular in Asia, and as such, many doll companies have made very Nazi-esque uniforms [for example, see this outfit, made by the company Souldoll: here]. These sorts of outfits cause all sorts of firestorm arguments, and as such, major doll board Den of Angels has banned discussion about Nazis. Den of Demons allows Nazi imagery with dolls, though that is not the main focus by any means. This time, the offending company is Luts, a genial company with friendly staff and pretty clothes. However, they then made the "Officer K" outfit, seen here: Officer K Uniform While lots of nazi fans drool over the outfit, other fans are very offended by it, including Mara (who, for the record, I agree with. The outfit is in bad taste and is offensive). She writes Luts a letter asking them to take it down, they reply and the outfit is no longer for sale. Over and done with, good triumphs, right? WRONG. About a week later, back up the outfit goes. Understandably, Mara is confused and upset, and posts on the Luts message board asking why. Here is the real wank: Luts MB The nazi supporters come out in full force, including such gems as: "Do you boycott Hugo Boss because they designed the Nazi uniforms? I think the uniform Luts is offering is really handsome. I'd buy it if my boys were the type to wear uniforms." "In no way is Luts promoting Nazism by serlling this outfit and if you bothered to look, the uniform is not accurate to the last detail. Just because something looks like it does not mean it's the genuine article. Sure, the hat and armband resemble it but the uniforn all together does not. This doesn't mean they support Nazis >>' take a breather and research 1st before you say things!" And many others who claim "It's not a nazi uniform, the piping is the wrong color on the hat!" and "if there's no swastika, it's not a nazi uniform!" Oh, Luts. You shouldn't have made that outift. Edit: Links fixed. I'm disappointed! I expected at least ONE icon to be made. *sob* Post a comment in response: |
