Super Princess Peach wank.
Yes. Really.

Apparently, some members of GameFAQs think that it is vitally important to determine whether or not Princess Toadstool is a viable name.

Vyers says no, because, "NoA made the Toadstool monicker. Miyamoto's name for her is Princess Peach, and Princess Peach only."

yangfelli says yes becuase, "I always found that Princess Toadstool had more of a whacked out crazy fantasy land vibe to it, like something pulled out of some old fairytale, whereas Peach is a bit too cutesy and hyper-bouncy Japanese anime-esque."

My favorite bit is Vyers' "I have no problem with people preferring the (wrong) name, but I do have a problem with people saying that Toadstool is correct."

Because her name is serious business, y'all.

Wow. I just had a conversation with my fiance about this a month ago, and the starter was the Peach/Toadstool naming issue. What we were talking about overall is how Nintendo and other companies are now more comfortable using the original Japanese names for characters rather than the "Americanized" versions-- which is why Dr. Robotnik is now Dr. Eggman in the Sonic games, for instance.

*wonders about the massive amounts of splooge that would result on GameFAQs if Square suddenly decided to rename Sabin as "Mash" in any future English-language rerelease of FF6...*

I always thought her names was Princess Peach Toadstool because before Super Mario 64 she was always called Princess Toadstool but in Mario64 she signed a letter "Peach" like that was her first name.

One of my friends mentioned this last night, and called her Princess Peach...I had no fuckin' clue who she meant, until she added, "from Mario" to the statement.

Toadstool is so much cooler...

What makes it all the more hilarious is that both names are correct. Her original name was "Princess Peach" in Japan, but it was changed to "Princess Toadstool" in the American release of Super Mario Bros. She went by that name for a while, and then they changed it to "Peach" and then back to "Toadstool" a few times before settling for "Peach."

I should probably be concerned that my boyfriend is eageraly anticipating Super Princess Peach and has a general crush on Peach more than is healthy for a 24 year old man. But no, I just love him more for it.

The first Mario game I played was Super Mario Land on Gameboy, so I was introduced to Daisy first. Imagine my 10 year old confusion when Peach started appearing in games. :(
