"why does everybodfy think i am an ASSHOLE?!"
Maybe because that's how you're acting? Hmm?

So, I know, we drummers are insane wanky by default. Here's a prime example from the LJ Drumming community, wherein someone decides to preach on the "feng shui" of properly balancing your kit. Naturally others take him to task for being full of himself, and it devolves into, of all things, a wank over male vs. female drummers. Um, whatever.

Well, it amused me...

I always had a special place in my heart for drummers and thought they rocked the casbah until Lars proved me wrong.

In the meantime, mrsgansmore's way of typing makes my brain weep this 'early' in the morning afternoon, especially on the long reply about the boys/girls thing. Half-paragraphs still make it look like a chunk of text, yanno.

Not much to say on the wank itself though, as the guy backpedals a few times so nothing gets anywhere, but this thread was funny simply cause of the guy's perchance for Engrish: "But then your fills will stink, and it is also astethics you will look and sound really top heavy."

'Fills will stink.' I love it! (And then he apologizes for it. Boo. It's a great line.)

Yeah, me too. Especially when they're crazy, arrogant, or in some other way so very SPESHUL.

'Fills will stink.' I love it!

My favorite line too. Makes me giggle just looking at it. Has to have useful applications somewhere...

What do you call a guy who hangs around with musicians? A drummer.

BoomBoom, *crash*

But seriously folks, I'm a drummer and I really didn't realise other drummers were that wanky. I mean, really, who gives a shit what your drum/cymbal ratio is?

And having a double bass pedal allows you an extra cymbal? What? It's still one drum, ass hat!

My favorite's always been:

What has three legs and a cunt? A drum stool.

Ah yes, Lar$ - how much do we not love you.

I dunno, I thought the "it is also astethics you will look and sound really top heavy" part was even more hilarious because of the mental imagery it provides. Who knew you could tell a drummer's favorite sexual position simply from how they arranged their drumset? >D

All right, dammit, curiosity is getting the better of me as I only know a smattering about Metallica--so what did Lars do, anyway?

Sadly, I'm not well-versed in Metallica either, but the general gist of it is that Lars Ulrich(sp?) was one of the biggest and most vocal people (artist-wise, at least) in the war against Napster and file-sharing programs. In other words, he's basically the RIAA's main whore poster boy.

Someone more well-versed in the whole history of the music industry vs. Napster/file-sharing affair can probably give you a better explanation, though.

In the recently released remake of The Italian Job, Seth Green's character is allegedly the "real" creator of Napster, who had his invention stolen from him.

They did a pretty good job with the whole running gag, and actually made it pretty funny.

As a sidenote I was dragged to a Metallica concert yesterday...first off, I didn't like it, much (and this is the 2nd time I've seen them...) too overproduced and annoying...but the urge to find my "Save Napster" T-shirt to go was PRETTY damn high.

...And it was amusing to see people call Fred Durst nasty names over his Yankees hat (I live in Boston)...

Dude. It's Fred Durst.

I think more people hated the contents of the hat (or lack thereof) than the hat itself.

*dies*

Yeah, I've wanted to do violent things to him ever since that 'guitarist audition' scam he pulled. That was LOW.
