Just a little follow up wank
Just a little follow up to the KKM wank reported here

The owner kaitou-marina makes a Mod Post in response to complaints on her respond time to the big blow-up and why she didn't hire more mods when some-one had requested it months ago(the request in question was some-one unknown to the owner asking to become a mod, no word of if said person included why they felt the need for another mod) She also asks why no-one contacted her when there were problems as that's pretty much how things were in the past. Mod then proposes ideas to help keep the comm calm in the future.

People then bitch that since she's the mod she should always be watching the comm for trouble and things get a little wanky.

biztheinsane: Because it's not their responsibility to take control of problems on your comm, silly! You made the decision of making a community for a popular fandom, so it is, in fact, your duty to "baby-sit" it in times of crisis.

My guess is that biztheinsane thinks that mods are psychic with computers or something.

Or it could be that Biz is being snarky towards the people who did nothing to inform the mod, being that she's been put in that position herself before (with campfuckudie), and everyone else is so defensive that they're missing the point. Gee, I wonder.

More mods would help, but I think the best thing to do is to stop freaking out about it and go back to enjoying the series instead of sucking the fun out of everything in an attempt to prevent wank.

I think what Kaitou was referring to was the "*smirk*" stuck in there, because it gives the impression that the person is just trying to get people riled up for a laugh. That certainly may not be the case, but that's how it comes off as, at least.

My read is that the series styles itself to encourage pairings, and we all know that wank simply FLOWS from pairing wars, so... I blame Kyou Kara Maou. That's all there is to it, really.

I think a big blowup has been coming for a while though - there have been some very nasty pairing/character comments since I started watching the comm... two, three months ago?

As I've learend from the WK fandom, you can't have lots of pretty boys without some wanking going on. *waits for the rotten tomatoes*

I'm actually a part of that community but the only post I made was in protest of the ridiculous 'Conrad = rapist' part. I was with them about the community have a decidedly Wolfram/Yuuri slant but this whiny bullshit (from both sides) is getting old.

Something tells me it has something to do with situations like this.

I don't think anyone expects this mod to sit in front of the computer screen all day long, but if the community is to the point that posters are being slapped for being 'provocative' for ending a post with "Go Wolfram/Yuuri!", that's a clear sign that another mod is needed. Or four.

If you have a big community, you will eventually have wank. If you have wank, you as the mod either need to handle it or ask for help. The fact that she literally can't be in front of the computer screen all day tells me that she should go for option B there.

Heh, I mod communities/groups both on LJ and off and if anyone started whining about how I should be there 24/7 to babysit they'd be banned.

You shouldn't have to hold the hands of adults to make sure they play nice in the sandbox.

Mmmm, modding.
I felt a little bad, cause yeah, I was ignoring the community for a while. (Gay Lawyers took over my life, and all) Usually the community self cleaning, but if there were problems that people felt they were being ostracized... they should... you know, not be quiet. I won't bite, honest!

That, and the "wank" that started this all made me go "meh." I think I'm desensitized, or something. It wasn't really all that big of a deal.

Someone wanted to be a mod in December, but Marina does not know her or trust her. So she was denied. Asking for modship seems a bit odd.
