Very Small SGA Wank: It's NOT NON-CON if they never say "No"!!
It starts out innocently enough... An author posts their sparkly first fic (which she swears is a crack!fic but I think it leans more towards bad!fic) on mckay_sheppard. A comment is left by iibnf suggesting they might want to add "non con" to their warnings... and we're off!!!

remainunashamed swears This. Fic. Is. Not. Non-con.!!!! You guys decide who's on the shit side of the fence. amireal tries valiantly to explain why a character threatened with genital mutilation or sex is "Non-Con"... but it's like talking to a brick wall. A very belligerent brick wall.

ETA: If you're a bad!fic connoisseur you'll enjoy the missing almost sex scene she wrote as a follow up to her fic...

Cons and noncons aside, the fic isn't even that good. And I've only seen a little of SG:A

After they had sex ("I kinda like you with a vagina, Rodney.") Rodney got his dick back ("Thank GOD!"), they found Teyla and Ronon ("I am sorry I missed that," was Teyla's comment and Ronon only gave Rodney a frighteningly interested look), and went back to Atlantis.

Worst transition ever.

How old is this [info]iibnf person?

I'm not sure that piece of Bad!Crack!fic is really all that non-con, but the OP getting all shrieky about it certainly seemed wanky to me.

I tend to err on the side of caution, warning for 'possible non-con' or 'kink', even if I don't feel something is particularly so. Hell, I even added a 'blood play' warning because one character bit his lip and the other character tasted the blood on his mouth.

I thought I was a bad!fic connoisseur but I couldn't get more than a paragraph into either the fic or the sex scene. I just couldn't do it. I don't know what's wrong with me.

I was under the impression that non-con was where there's dubious consent as opposed to rape!fic which has rape in a more clearly defined way.

It seems the mod's gone through and tagged the entry with "humour, non-con, r, remainunashamed". Remainunashamed has responded with this in the story header: I know the tag says non-con but it is not.
Even though the rest of the header made me want to spork my own eyes out, it was worth refraining to get to that.

I'd say "the aliens made them do it!" borders on non-con, depending on the context and how it's presented. I guess what I'd say is, if the characters feel that they are being taken advantage of, it's non-con; so this fic probably wouldn't be.

I was kind of disappointed in the fic, actually. It was neither good nor bad enough to be interesting.
