In the LJ community [info]anita_blake_fan, [info]kohaku_y_n is disgruntled about the number of Anita Blake fans who complain about the series. The OP is wanky as it is, complete with a threat to "leave the community next time something like that appears!"

Others chime in with agreement and gentle, reasoned disagreement.

[info]maniac_aly points out the blatant lack of plot in the latest ABVH books. And [info]kuzunoha mentions that LKH desperately needs a decent editor. This comment is, of course, followed by the usual ZOMG U R SO MEAN LKH IS DISLEXIC!!1111!!eleventyone

There's more, including people complaining about those who complain about the complaining and someone who wishes that those who threaten to leave would hurry up and go.

LKH made us love a puppy... Then she took it out back and shot it. Filled it with sawdust and tried to tell us it was still alive and the same puppy.

They should film that story and show it every Christmas.

Also, it looks like the OP really needs an editor of his/her very own.

SKIP THE FUCKING SEX IN THE DAMN BOOKS AND YOU SHALL GET IT DONE SOONER! you then can go back and reread all the sex if you choose hell i read that book in three fucking hours with the sex I'm sick of ppl complaing that it took long to read when it really didn't! if you acually sit down and read it! mazrk the spots with the sex begining and end and you can skip those parts and read the rest ... that's what i did the second time I read it ... it'll most likely make more since but quite effing complaining it's fucking retarded if you don't like where the series is going stop fucking reading it!

People like this are why I think you should have to buy exclamation marks with real money.

I love this with a passion that much exceeds its worth. I shall use it for everything that disappoints me from now on.

LKHAlmiles made us love a puppy... Then she took it out back and shot it. Filled it with sawdust and tried to tell us it was still alive and the same puppy.

LKH George Lucas made us love a puppy... Then she took it out back and shot it. Filled it with sawdust and tried to tell us it was still alive and the same puppy.

LKH Fox Network made us love a puppy... Then she took it out back and shot it.....and gave us Who Wants to Watch some Crappy Reality Show instead.

Guess it doesn't work for everything.

ppl like that do nothing but put their hates down .... I'm a writer myself ... and honestly ... I have a few people that love what I write and only 1 that doesn't but that 1 is just an ass aka my sister ...If i had as much negative feed back like laurell does ... I'd do the same god damn thing she's doing writeing what she wants to and how she wants to and not even giving a shite about what the "fans" are saying anymore!

She's... a writer... herself. Can't you... tell? I wonder

I feel like I'm typing the way William Shatner speaks. It burns. But not as much as her 'writing' does.

If LKH is dyslexic, that doesn't negate her need for a copy editor; it increases it.

Of course, her need for a coherent plot and interesting characters overshadows that.

I miss the way the series was good before Anita (in the words of a good friend) turned into the Whore of Babylon. (Said friend got into the series, and subsequently got me into it, after reading Cerulean Sins: how's that for irony?)

Yaknow, I was dissapointed...
The other day I was at Chapters abnd picked up an Anita Blake book, opened to page random, and expected to find fucking.
I did it again.
And again.
And yet again.
Nothing, despite previous wanks that said one could litterally open to any page and find sex.

I once again shall quote LKH's latest book:

"So wet, but so tight. You're always so tight after I do you by mouth."

"Fuck me, Micah, fuck me."

"You're tight, Anita, really tight."

"But wet. I'm so wet. You've made me so wet. Fuck me, Micah. Fuck me before I stop having little spasms inside me. You made me so wet, so tight, my body is still having little mini orgasms. I want you inside me while my body is still spasming."

"So wet. God, so tight. You keep gripping me with your body. It's like the farther I push, the more you spasm. Just me pushing inside you, causing small orgasms."

Anyone who seriously argues that isn't crap? Clearly needs to have their head examined. o.O I've read bad!fic on ff.net that was better written...

I wonder where this mystery plot ceitnicangus and the OP calim the later books have.

I've been tempted to read the ones before Obsidian Butterfly. I wouldn't buy them, just borrow them from a friend, but then I remember when LKH pulled an Anne Rice and the way her fan poodles behave and I'm turned off again.

You know what? No one should be complaining about how much sex there is in an LKH book!! Christ on a cracker folks, sex is the point of her damn books. Complaining about the quality of the sex, that's one thing (because based on the example from the latest ABVH book posted above, blech), but complaining that "OMG it's ALL sex now!!" seems like a weak argument at best. It's not like you were reading freaking Tolstoy before gang.

That being said, I love her Merry Gentry series liek whoa. The Anita books started bugging about three books into the series.

Has anyone here read both LKH and an author named Kim Harrison (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060572965/sr=8-5/qid=1144939084/ref=pd_bbs_5/102-2885728-8801746?%5Fencoding=UTF8)? I swear it's the same person. Same type of fantasy world (the Midwest as we otherwise know it, but with magic stuff), same character, same ugly-sounding clothes, same seduction by vampires, same vague author bio & pic...

So either (a) I am super-smart and figured out the conspiracy, (b) everyone knows this already, or (c) Laurell K Hamilton needs to sue someone.

-conspiracy?mouse
(PS I sure as hell don't read these books for the plot!)

Many a times I've read the synopsis of the first book and thought it looked interesting and I should give it a read; and many a times circumstances have conspired against it. Then I found F_W and realized I'd unknowingly dodged a crappily written, error riddled, nasty porn having, bullet. And I was happy.

Now if only those circumstances had saved me from reading one Christine Feehan... *cries*

My only hope for the Anita Blake series is Edward, and I have this sick, sinking feeling that I'm going to be bitterly disappointed when Laurell K. Hamilton brings him back.

Am I the only one who wants to see Edward hired to kill people allied with Anita? Let's have a full-on bloodbath! The only downside is it would be written so that Anita wins easily, which is a shame, because I think Edward's the only one who could take Anita down.

*Sigh* I disregard canon anyway, as Edward, for me, is obviously gay.

I liked the Anita Blake series until, as someone else here said, LKH turned her into the Whore of Babylon. I also got really tired of her constant indecision as far as Richard, Jean-Claude, Micah, Nathaniel, and whatever other Flavor of the Week she had went. Get over it already!

I just finished reading a book that had three or four vampire-themed short stores in it, and one of them was an Anita Blake one. Found about five typos in it. She really needs a new beta editor.....

Hi, Never been here befor, but i herd there was a bunch of people bitching about the anita blake books.
this made me happy inside.
I just finish incubus dreams. the first 70 chapters really was just casual sex with occasional bit of background thrown in. it wasnt untill about chapter 70 that i realised "oh, she going to kill somthing, yippeeee" (that was a heartfelt yippee, btw"
i was kinda hopfull around the time of her meeting "the browns" but no, LKH was using that as a launch pad for some feral sex with nathanial.
Honestly, i dont really care that LKH uses the ardure to inject som screwing in to her books, i also quite like the bizzare state of anitas sex life, and how she fucks it up worse. but the latest book was just... WELL 70 FUCKING CHAPTERS OF CHICK-LIT!!! WTF!!! the actiony parts should be MORE improtant than the screwing! it is a sodding horror book! the action feels way to tacked on. how the hell did it get that way round?
God do i ever hope the next book is better.
but those people who threaten to leave piss me off.
grow the fuck up!

Anne Rice might be crazy, but from what I can tell, at least she doesn't let her personal life write itself into the plot of her books. That would mean that she was, at one point, Jesus Christ on a cracker.
