Plus-sized EGL wank.
Over on the egl community, mach2kudou posts a photoshoot of her in a Metamorphose dress. She specifically asks that no one offer constructive criticism on her hair, accessories, or makeup (but not on the dress itself). Most of the commenters are fairly positive- a lot of "Actually, I hate that dress, but it looks good on you!" sort of stuff.

However, then things start getting a bit nasty.

I know its hard finding Japanese clothing that fits you when your a plus size girl, But for the love of god, do not squeeze yourself into something that you know doesn not fit. Also just a side note, the bits about your period and your blood getting on your dress were overdramatic and more information than Im sure any of us wanted to know.

There is a huge difference between "fitting" and "stretching a poor piece of fabric grotesquely out of shape".

There's no problem with you being big. I can't say anything about that because, hell, I'm not the smallest girl on the block at 190. The difference is I would never think of squeezing my tits into a whole lot of shirring to look cute.

You do not look good. Please buy a dress that was made to fit you, even if it looks just like that one but wasn't made for a size 12, and post pictures of you wearing that. I'm sure they will be lovely.

mach2kudou rants in her journal. (ETA: Crap! She deleted it already!) The post includes this gem of a line:

Over on danaeaphreal's lj, there's some some wtf-ery in the comments over that "white is right" comment (because seriously, wtf?).

danaeaphreal sees the post and writes a "ha ha! I made you mad!" post in her own journal. (There are references in the comments to fandom_wank, but I didn't see them until after I posted this.)

Both of them refer to a TJ-Maxx debacle. If that's the right post, it doesn't seem that debacle-y to me, but perhaps the drama sensors at egl are a bit sensitive. Maybe just a bit.

Finally, one of the moderators posts a modly restatement of the community rules. It includes the following paragraph:
Truths should be more often spoken, and that is one thing this community currently falls short on. Rule number two addresses courtesy to other members. It says specifically to "Be polite in offering constructive criticism and respect the wishes of those who ask for constructive criticism." It would seam that some people have interpreted this to mean that if you can't say anything nice than don't say anything at all. However, that is not the case. When posting in this community, one should be able to expect polite behavior from other members. Being polite does not mean that negative comments cannot be made. If someone looks really terrible and you believe that to be the case, you are allowed to comment that you think that is the case. But when making negative comments, remember to be tactful without being cruel. Try to make constructive comments rather than just tearing the person down. If no one speaks up to say that someone could do better, then no one can improve and grow.

ya'll delete your mean comments like i won't see them- you can't unsend an email, kids. i still have mine set up where the messages are sent to my inbox, and no amount of backspacing or reconstructing harsh write-offs will fucking fix that.
