Gacked from [info]wank_report [info]bookshop aka Aja has announced locking her LJ for a few weeks because people can't accept she's left HP fandom and keep insulting her new fandom, Prince of Tennis.

Wait. For serious? Not that I didn't notice an overlap in HP/PoT fandom but I just thought, "Well, I like HP and PoT and I'M incredibly cool so there must be other people in the world who are also incredibly cool and like HP and PoT," but I didn't know that there was a perceived MASS EVACUATION OF HARRY POTTER FANDOM IN FAVOR OF PRINCE OF TENNIS. I had no idea HP fandom was in such... critical condition.

Also ladysorka's post for teh win. 99% of my fandoms are either tiny or comatose. Or actually non-existent.

If HP fandom is dying, why can I still not go online for more than a minute without seeing someone, somewhere, mention HP? HP ate the internet years ago and has yet to spit it back out. Saying it's dying is just.... ludicrous.

I don't feel like naming anyone but I saw some mild wankiness on my flist over it.

The way I see it, HP fans were mostly just being bitches to people who weren't into HP anymore and to whom PoT felt like a fun, new, fresh thing. It does feel weird that instead of all that HP squee my flist is suddenly filled with (personal opinion warning!) shitty-looking anime pictures and squee but you know, mostly it's behind cut and I can just very easily scroll by.

I kind of don't get "one-fandom" people... Like, fandoms aren't spouses. You can have two at the same time and don't have to leave one to enter another. You have can friggin' 20 if you like! Fandoms are like fuck buddies. If you don't sleep with one, it just means you're sleeping with the other ones.

*blinks* So this what all that "HP fandom is dying" is about? Wow, what an idiot the fandom can be. Not dying, morons, just evolving, like the people in it. Or in the case of me, pure boredom. Everything written is cliched at this point, no matter pairing, gen, kink, etc. Bored now.

I'm pretty sure the HP fandom as a whole won't even notice her gone, having more important things to worry about. Like porn, shipping wars and squabbling about whether or not JKR is a filthy, baby-killing hypocrit for using hair dye.

Fandom works like a conveyor belt, sometimes. People become interested, take part in the fandom, and begin to lose interest, but it doesn't matter, because there are new people taking interest by then.

If you ship H/Hr, if you are one of those ZOMG EVOL Nazi Slytherin apologists (never mind that half the SA's I know are Jewish), if you don't like Dumbledore...there are a LOT of reasons people leave fandoms, and most of the people that I know who have left HP fandom left because of the wank.

It's fucked up that bookshop is getting more flack than anyone else but it's not shocking, she IS well known in the HP fandom and I guess folks are having a hard time taking it which is stupid. She has another fandom oh noes! D:

HP fandom isn't dying. We had a double dose of HP goodness last year and it's not a travesty if the fandom has slow spots. Heaven help these people when the hp series is over. :\
