zOMG! PETER JACKSON! I LOVE YOU! NOW GIVE BACK YOUR AWARD!
(My first wank! *beam* Kinda small though...)

Over on IMDb, someone comments on the movie "Meet the Feebles," directed by Peter Jackson in 1989. The poster states that this was the worst piece of *bleep* that s/he has ever seen and that Jackson should give back his award he won FOR A LATER MOVIE.

Oh my GOD! let me start off to establish that im not a church going, God hates violence and sex in movies kind of person. I own Dead Alive which I love, thank you mr jackson for that fine piece of zombie cinema, but this Meet the Feebles was the worst piece of *beep* I have ever seen. Please, if you thought you wanted to see this movie, DONT! if you like peter jackson then DONT see this movie, because if Peter jackson had any credibility before, after seeing this, its not just ripped apart, its ripped apart, thrown up on, place in human excrements, and then soaked in semen. If you think that line was revolting, then just go watch this movie and see how something can be even more gross. I liked Team America World Police, and this is NO Team America World Police. Shame on you Peter Jackson you give back that Oscar, you sick freak, you dont deserve it...by the way I love Dead Alive, The Frighteners, and LOTR

The OP never showed up again, but many came to defend Peter Jackson's good name:

Hey, just incase your a little confused, Peter Jackson won the Oscar for "Return of the King".

This film has nothing to do with his Academy Award - Nothing.

The dude worked his ass off to get that award and deserved it (for that film), so maybe you should think twice before making really stupid comments like this one.

I'm not trying to be a blow-hard, and I'm not calling YOU stupid (just calling your comment stupid). Just suggesting that even though you obviously didn't dig this flick (and i know MANY people who didn't), you should have a little more respect for a really great visionary. You say yourself you dig his other films, so lighten up a bit. Rent HEAVENLY CREATURES and I guarantee by the end of it you won't feel that Peter Jackson's reputation should be "soaked in semen". That's all.

----------

Yep...I'm sure Peter Jackson would

1. Read this.
2. Take you seriously.
3. Give back his Oscar.

Seriously, don't write crap.

----------

If you liked this that much, you should also most definitely check out Street Trash directed by James Muro. This way you can compare how you put, oh so lovingly, worst piece of *beep*s you ever seen.

----------

PJ is highly over-rated, nearly anyone could have directed LOTR as good as he did. You just have to stick to the book as much as possible and fead the eyes with a special effects feast.

Though the post is two years old, people still respond to this day.

Some comments are deleted by the admins... one wonders what they were about. Ah well.

All in all, a small wank. But all of the comments are great.

Wait, wait... she has seen Dead Alive and loves it, yet Meet the Feebles is too much for him/her/it?? *confusion* Dude, the scene with woman drawing people into her womb? HER WOMB?!?! And MTF was just muppets on speed! I love that movie, it's cracktastic!

Well, I can see why the OP is squicked by MtF. I mean, zombies are one thing - that's the living dead! But cracked out puppets using sick humor? That's where I draw the line! They weren't even alive to begin with!

Heh, this takes me back to high school. One of my friends was a big fan of Peter Jackson's crap/kitsch period, and was always talking about Meet the Feebles and Dead Alive. I wonder what he would have said then if he'd known that years later this guy would somehow win an Oscar.

Heavenly Creatures is a good movie, though. Hard to believe the same guy directed all that other crap. Including LotR. :P

Heavenly Creatures is TEH AWESOME movie. When I saw that at the cinema and the lights came on at the end, I looked around at the crowd. They were totally silent and mostly looked pale. It was the most visceral reaction I ever had to a film.

I didn't personally find Meet the Feebles that funny, but eh, it's just not my kind of comedy. Bad Taste, now there's a fantastic movie. "Yeah, and the moon."

I've never actually seen "Meet the Feebles" all the way through, because my friends made me turn it off right about at the point where the walrus barfs up the fish that he'd eaten at an earlier point in the film.

Yeah, they're still speaking to me, incredibly. Especially amazing when you consider that after that, I decided to make them sit through the collected short films of the Brothers Quay, which I suppose seemed downright mild by comparison.

MTF was awesome in its sheer WTFery, but it will never compare with the French movie the same friend made me watch, starring the Marquis de Sade. People in animal suits (would you call 'em furries? I guess so), sex, sodomy with lobsters, cow boobs with huge nipples, and a detachable talking penis. Brilliant.

I've never seen Meet The Feebles, but I loved Bad Taste and Braindead - Bad Taste especially.

I remember my Dad bringing it back from the video shop and we put in on and cried laughing. The acting is terrible, the special effects are cheap (mostly made from modelling clay and using his mum's oven to fire the result) and the budget is about ten New Zealand dollars and a piece of string, and it is still fucking brilliant. I can't believe Peter Jackson used to do his patent stomach-lurching vertigo shots while hanging off cliffs on home-built wooden cranes.

I wish Dad had been around to see PJ collect his Oscar for Return of The King, because I don't care what anyone says - I think he did a lovely job of filming 'The Unfilmable'.

O_O...I actually know the guy who wrote that movie (Roy Frumkes; he also wrote The Substitute); he was one of the instructors of a summer film class at SVA that I attended. What was really a shame was that despite the movies he's written have been so crappy, he was actually a nice guy.

By this logic, any actor who's won an Oscar should also give it back for having been in crappy movies years ago. Or in Stallone's case, bad soft core porn.

Peter Jackson is one of those guys who is hit or miss. He's made some absolutely awful shit, but he occaisonally has his high moments. With the exception of the LOTR trilogy, I think he's more average than anything.

Which is why I really don't see why people even bother to wank about it all.

The funny part is that when he did win the oscar for ROTK, Peter Jackson actually did say something along the lines of thanking the acadmy for over-looking Meet the Feebles.

It's actually not a bad movie. Yes, it has a shit-load of over-the-top factors, and the fact that it's all puppets only adds to the shock-factor, but I find it just as amusing as anything that John Waters has done, and if there's beer, friends and a few other forms of recreational drugs, I never pass up and opertunity to show it to people.

Hell, it's entertaining, the gay fox gets some hysterical lines (and the infamose music number), there's a parody of 'The Deer Hunter' thrown in, and at the very end where the rabbit proceeds to vomit all over the place, I always laugh inspite of myself.
