Tori Amos PLAGIARISM!!! wank//"Bitch, the people in this community invented this little game."
Over on LJ's Tori Amos snark community tblsurvivors, [info]pandelirium posts about a post in [info]toriamos about a Neil Gaiman tribute album, and makes some remarks about "cross-pollination," which everyone generally agrees are funny because of Tori's latest obsession with bugs, bees and the like (her latest record is entitled The Beekeeper).

Then [info]velvet_widow shows up, claiming PLAGIARISM!, and also tl;dr-ing everything to death in the process. TBLS's members proceed to snark it up.

[info]velvet_widow: "While many US fans, may see this as only an attempt to suck money from Tori fans – there are plenty of European ones who indeed know the bands featured on the album and a wait the albums release proving that not all opinions on the subject run congruent. Then again – I am still baffled by those who bash Tori’s Beekeeper album because it is “different” from the others, thinking “everyone would be bitching if it was the same old shit over and over again” ~ Tori stands for evolution of self inside and out – one should embrace that not destroy it and cut it down."

[info]saralogan: "So it's not hypocritical to call someone a plagiarist for linking to your post, and then you use Tori's lyrics without permission? That's good to know. I should put your definition of HYPOCRISY in to the Encyclopedia Dramatica.

And really, calling a militant feminist bisexual someone who is prejudiced just sounds stupid.

Can you come up with an original insult, or will you continue to rely on Tori's quips to make yourself look like the better obsessed fangirl?"

[info]cussingbride: "Plagiarism? Wait. Did you get explicit permission from Tori Amos to use the name of one of her songs as your alias?"

DIDN'T THINK SO. I WIN AGAIN."

And it goes on.

An entire tl;dr POST, courtesy of [info]velvet_widow, which is entitled "Just a Lil Response".

Watching you and your little friends dance like a little puppet on a string is highly entertaining because apparently you just haven't figured out this little game.

Oh, please. The whole "you're not pwning me, you're PLAYING INTO MY HANDS LOL" schtick is so old it creaks.

Because it's impossible for someone like that to still harbor prejudices.

And how the hell is quoting someone's post "plagiarism" if you acknowledge that you weren't the one who said it?

I comment only to point out that as well as being an author (really nice dude, kooky individual and owner of a snazzy clock) Neil Gaiman writes music/songs.

So, the OP can stick that in her harmonica and whistle dixie.

Besides, like Neil Gaiman needs to suck money out of Tori Amos fans. If he was so inclined he has his own rabid, devoted fans to suck money from.

Since when is the Billboard Top 100 the be-all, end-all of music?  Eighty percent of what I listen to has never even seen the light of day on the charts - does that make me some sort of listening-loser?  Do I have bad tastes and only like no-talent, no-name bands?

On the rare occasions MTV plays music videos, some of what they play never charts in the top 10.  Do they have poor tastes?  Also, somewhat related, The Crüxshadows HAVE had a video on MTV.  But it's still not the Billboard Top 100, so I guess they lose.  Forget the fact that they've sat atop the DAC, somewhere a great majority of American bands will never go.  Who cares about that?  Only America counts when it comes to music.

Also, why exactly can't music be used as tribute to an author?  Sure, it's for the movie, but I think Howard Shore did a really damned good job of giving life to The Lord of the Rings.  And does that mean the authors who have included music CDs/soundtracks with their books should knock it off, because music has nothing to do with writing?

Oh wait! I get it!  Somebody's an embittered fanfic writer who is disgruntled because Neil will never read, let alone publish, their "original" Endless stories.

Quoth velvet_widow:

TV in general sucks ass because it is exploited and nothing is what it is supposed to be anymore. Of course Cartoon Network doesn’t play cartoons and MTV doesn’t have videos – people don’t want to see them anymore so the corporations have made the decisions to change programming in order to survive. It’s all about ratings and money.

People in TV...trying to make money? THOSE BASTARDS! They should be working for free! How dare they exploit us!

Also, last time I checked (and this was literally minutes ago), Cartoon Network is still showing cartoon pretty much 24/7. Except for about once in a blue moon in which they randomly show Jim Carrey movies, it's still cartoons. Of course, since she's above television, I shouldn't really expect her to know these things. Perhaps she should not talk about shit she doesn't know about? Nah, that wouldn't be any fun.
