Smallville MySpace wank: "Free Lana!"
In the Smallville fandom, there is a popular Clark/Lana shipper board called Sweet. The fans there are not happy with the season finale "Vessel." A fairly prominent poster decides to wank on Steven DeKnight's myspace about it, with the encouragement of other posters. More fans take his lead and wank on DeKnight's myspace, then post their comments on Sweet for the others to see.
However, the fun doesn't really start until some non-Sweet fans come onto DeKnight's myspace to defend the show's honor. (Scroll about halfway down to merricate's post... myspace apparently doesn't permalink comments like LJ does. It starts there.) It quickly degenerates to a "Your fave character sucks!" "No, your fave character sucks!" back-and-forth. Highlights below the cut.
Janna: For one, I don't think alot of us give a damn about Chloe, because she doesn't exist in the comics. The ORIGINAL comics. Chloe, the person who, as I said, doesn't exist..is having more character development then the people who are in it together in every version. Chloe is IRONICALLY taking the place of both Lana AND Lois. She is the "real hero" of the show.
ChamberofCK: Dude, you don't have to give a damn about Chloe to give a damn about how Lana being that Calllous makes *LANA* look. I hope Chloe doesn't give a damn about her either, the ingate.
Todd: If the writers don't care about the charcters , why should I? You have turned Lana into a cheap slut, who can't go an episode without a boyfriend. Chloe has become a super spy, who has been more heroic than Clark, and the future Lois Lane is a drop out and a drunk.
Joy Thompson: Lana never could go an episode w/o a boyfriend or are you just tuning in? Also hoping people get fired, smooth buddy, I'm sure you'd appreciate it if people left you messages like that regarding your job on your blog. Whatever
ChamberofCK: Clark and Chloe? Set them free. There one-way-street "friendships" with Lana, wherein only Lana benifets and then proceeds to tear into them, abandons them during crisis when they never abandon her (no, actually they JUMP up right away to ask her what's wrong if she has so much as a gassy look on her face)-- this is shunning-worthy behavior. She can't even spare basic human decency fro them when they've saved her and supported her more times than she can count. I can believe a man can fly, but I CAN'T believe any self-respecting human beings would put up with that and *not* tell Lana off before freezing her out. Set them free.
alexa: the only one who needs to be set free is LANA. have we all forgotten that chloe once betrayed clark by going to lionel? the only difference is that lana is DATING lex. but NOOO...chloe is suddenly the greatest person alive, thanks to her amazing (did you hear me? i said AMAZING computer hacking skills)
but why did lana go to lex?mainly because... oh yeah, thats right. CLARK LOOKED HER STRAIGHT IN THE EYE, TELLING HER HE DIDNT LOVE HER! he betrayed her, by sleeping with her, promising things would be different.

And on and on, until Steve DeKnight makes commenting friends only. Undeterred, the Sweets begin sending e-mails. and calling for members on SD's friends list to go to his MySpace. The wank continues to spill into the remainder of the thread and, if you're reallybored brave, the next thread.
