I get so freaking of tired of the "I'm a ___ and therefore I can say whatever I want to about them." and "I'm a ___ and I think it's funny, therefore no one in the world is allowed to be offended."

I also don't understand how all these people know everything about how Paul was only on the rebound and she was bad for him and so forth. They can read his mind? Sure, people can speculate about it all they want, but how do they know?

I'll conceed that there's definitely a mean-girl vibe about all this (forgive me Snacky, for I have sinned). Nonetheless, I still kinda giggle when I think of the story I heard about how Stella McCartney talked Kylie Minouge into putting out a cigarette on Heather's fake leg at the wedding reception.

I think what I love about the Heather-hating (from family and strangers alike) is that is IS just so fucking ridiculous and over-the-top that it's almost turns around and becomes high camp.

People like these are among the reasons John kept quiet about Cynthia in the early days. I've always felt that was a bit misguided of him, but in the light of some of these extreme reactions it begins to look like a much better decision than I originally thought. It's a shame it didn't work as a long-term strategy, but then I doubt any of them ever expected the band to get quite so big that people would still be arguing about their relationships forty years later.

Ha! Paul-&-Heather wank finally makes it to prime-time! The private McCartney fan lists and boards have been loaded with wank for years, ever since Heather & Paul met. They were together for months before they made their relationship public (in fact, after she met Paul, she called off her upcoming marriage to some BBC cameraman just weeks before the wedding). Once the Paul fans found out about them, they started splitting off into camps of Heather-lovers and Heather-haters. Some people thought she was the greatest thing that had ever happened to Paul because she brought him out of his depression, others suspected she was a gold-digger from the getgo. But there has always been the wank.
