Over on fanficrants and , vain_chan writes a really long letter to the plagiarist roninoath, detailing the many times (and many fics) this person plagiarized. More of the story is here, and here. Most of the reactions are in her favor; roninoath, after deleting her LJ, even apologizes. So, everything's sooo good, right? Haha, of course not!

When sharz expresses his/her condolences s/he also adds: "...But lets stay objective before we start with the abuse. It's just fanfiction, not an academic essay, it's done for fun, not point getting too worked up about it; it's not worth anyones effort to let a uncreative, dishonest person make us angry."

Besides a hilarious misspelling of "plagiarist" by sharz ('plaugerist' ftw!) and vain_chan crossposting-commenting a reply, the wank really unloads on sharz's LJ, where she/he writes about the "Immaturity in fandom," addressing, well, uh, only vain_chan's OMG SO MEEEEN behavior and, fandom is not serious business, and ranting = immaturity, and yadda yadda yadda.

Highlights:

"Going on to publicly humiliate and being incredibly rude is not on. Using words such as strumpet, bitch etc is just not on. Whatever the problem, we've got to deal with it in a civilised manner. The rant's author's 'don’t' fuck me with' attitude really grates on my nerves. There is really no need to adopt such a 'badass' attitude for the sake of fanfiction. I hope he/she doesn't think she's being threatening or particularly smart-alec. Note: my emphasis on the word fanfiction. Had it been something of more academic import it would be a different matter even though vain_chan's tone I can't condone under any circumstance."

"Also the violence of the words did not add up to the task being done. The plagiarist stole some fanfiction. Not an academic thesis which took years to complete, just an RPG, 3-7 hours work max. These people really need to grow up a little and loosen up. Anime and fanfics are hobbies, not a lifestyle unless people make it such. And it's rather idle to be doing nothing but watching anime and then making up fanfics about it."

I literally cried with laughter at enelya_telrunya's "Can everyone just let it lie? I can't stand online fights! They're just awful!" shadlez defends sharz and I can't wait for the sequel!
