Straight man hangs out on slash-friendly forums, feels oppressed. Film at 11!
Continuing its wanky adolescence, we have another up from [info]fanficrants:

[info]_bowles_ makes a post bemoaning how few men there are in fandom and how female-dominated it is. His example of why this sucks?
"It kind of kills half the discussions I have on forums. "Oh, well, you know, Hermione could just be going through that time of the month... Ooh, maybe she's pregnant! That happened when I was pregnant!""
Kind of a shame he obviously didn't run this past a woman who could have told him how well that was gonna go down. (Later on he edited in "For me" at the suggestion of someone in the comments.)

While a few people agree (leading to some microwank about how addressing a general audience as "girls" is unacceptable), things heat up pretty quickly, mostly because [info]_bowles_ tries to recant the pregnancy thing, and [info]cereta & [info]sparcck take offense.

Best exchange:
[info]codfishbunny: "I'm having problems feeling sympathetic towards your plight; would you like a mint instead?"

[info]_bowles_: "Fair enough, I don't think I was honestly expecting any sympathy.

*vows to never speak mind again*
"

[info]codfishbunny: "While I appreciate your determination in employing out-of-work tiny-violin players, you're not getting another mint."

Most wtf? comment:
[info]samuraiter: "In the mid-1990s, when the Internet was young and modern fanfic was finding its feet in the age of small, decentralized archives, the majority of 'ficcers were college-age males, though there was a strong female minority. ... Of course, the shoe is now on the other foot."

Not as wanky as it could have gone, because the OP was more of an idiot than a troll, but still with some nice splooge.
