You broke my pasta! ([info]lardencelover) wrote in [info]fandom_wank,

"Hate memes are so last week. Get with the program, kthx."
New wanker aboard, so use the good lube this time, not that greasy shit.

Despite the fact that Queer as Folk has been dead and gone for over a year now, the wank continues, as some genius decides it's time for a "What You Hated About QaF" meme, complete with threats to ZOMG FRIEND AND ANNOY anyone who points that this person is, in fact, a douche. Which is a mostly empty threat, besides, seeing as the journal has already friended all of the LJs still participating to whatever degree in the fandom. Naturally, hilarity ensues.

Even though [info]qaf_hate (the moment I saw that username on my flist, I knew it was trouble) threatened friending, [info]death_in_paris and [info]feei still spout the very thing this person was obviously expecting to hear. (And did get friended, just as promised!)

Some people (oddly anonymous, go figure) use the meme for what it's for: bitching about the show's creators', Cowlip, ineptitude.

Others try to taunt [info]qaf_hate right back, pointing out that you can't friend an anonymouse, bitches!

Another anonymouse admits to Gale Harold!Love peer pressure, opining that she only pretends to like the lead actor of the show because all of his/her friends would defriend them if they didn't. A discussion about what kind of true friends can't love someone despite their opinions that Gale is fug and can't act is struck up.

[info]quinnpowers waxes nostalgic, [info]blacksatinrose wonders what took so long, and an anonymouse stirs the shitpot by wondering who the worst QaF fanfic writer is, and it's all downhill from there, including an anonymouse who brings up the age-old battle between the Brian/Justin and Brian/Mikey shippers, possibly causing the whole fandom to collectively groan in a "not again" type of fashion. There's also a knock on the RPS side of the fandom, the even touchier subject of UK QaF vs. US QaF, and... uh, Randy Harrison's lips.

And [info]quinnpowers gets bonus points for a Clerks reference.

This goes on for four pages, 753 comments upon this post, and is likely going to grow before it's over. I loved the show, even the decidedly crappy last couple of seasons, but there's probably a reason this fandom is going under.

...I really love how all the comebacks to UK being better basically boil down to "Stuart was ugly!"

Because yes, when evaluating television pretty > everything else in the world!

Or, you know, not.

I think the point some of them make about that is that the Stuart/Brian character is this veritable sex God, and it's hard to buy that from a guy that looks like Aidan Gillen.

... but most just want the pretty. Sue us.

Does it matter if the show's been off the air for a year? There was still a BtVS hatememe, and [info]rahirah got a t-shirt!

Between btvs_hate, vm_truth, lost_hate, and now qaf_hate, I don't know which of my fandoms to weep for first. :( WOE.

Can't we all just appreciate the porny aspects of fandom? Plz?

People who go on and on about the sex scenes HAVE to be straight women who just haven't seen any other kind of gay sex. I remember people gushing over Justin topping as if it was some big deal and sorry but Gale did a TERRIBLE job in that scene.

How'd he do a terrible job? (just curious)

I have no doubt that Brian has been topped before this but it's obviously been awhile if we're talking about the show's timeline. For the speed that Justin rammed it in and didn't take any time to stretch Brian who supposedly hasn't done it in a long time, Gale should've had a much different expression on his face. The scene didn't last long enough to see much besides the first couple of seconds and in those seconds Brian would've at least winced or had some kind of reaction besides the fake one he had.

You've been reading too much fanfic ;) The whole concept of the long, drawn-out prep is (mostly) the construct of fanfic writers. For a lot of people who are either 1) experienced with it (even if they haven't done it in a while) or 2) very aroused, anal penetration needs no prepration whatsoever. Even lube is optional for those folks, though I prefer a little Astroglide, myself *g*

(Anonymous)
2006-06-13 04:21 pm
Sorry msjudi but it has nothing to do with fanfic (I don't need fanfic to tell me how gay sex works). Perhaps you just have a large asshole but most people need some kind of prep time. And no one's talking about a "long, drawn out prep" but certainly more than the second long that Justin did.
And yes, some people brought up the voodoo.

So, did the show end B/J, or B/M?

Once again people fail to learn that marching into a troll journal and telling them off (and increasing comment count) is really not the best way to give said troll what for.

Then, there's this gem from a thread about fans bitching over QaF not receiving any awards:

Now wait a minute!! If there was a category for "Most Vomit Inducing Sex Scene Between A Flat-Ass Piece Of Cardboard and A Hairless, Horse-faced Slam Hole", surely QAF would of been nominated.

That said, I fess I never got obsessively into the series, although I did sort of develop a little of a crush on Michael from the American version. (Mostly because it's Hal Sparks, and he rocks in all sorts of ways.)
