prince of tennis wank: is it a shipping war? a fandom war? or...
[this post fed to me by an anonymouse. neither the legwork involved in rounding up links nor the composition itself is mine.]
Our story begins with Prince of Tennis, the dirty little anime about gay tennis. Apparently not content with ruining the Harry Potter fandom, Tenipuri fandom has turned viciously upon itself.
Enter one lovedoesthat, aka the creator of the much-loved hdcomic. Does she ship Tezuka/Fuji or Tezuka/Ryoma? Could it be she's just here for the mocking? And does it even matter when the wank starts to flow?lovedoesthat posts to the fandom's primary comm, tenipuri. The post has since been deleted for violating the community rules, but it has been capped and saved here. (If anybody has a copy of comments in threads, links would be much appreciated.)

Watch the fandom go.... huh? "You shouldn't be so mean to the TezuRyo shippers!" cry the baffled TezuFuji shippers. But wait... "Not sure whether you're mocking Zukafuji shippers or Zukaryo (I am thick like a brick!), but either way this is in really poor taste."
thewhiteprophet steps up with helpful advice: "Let's all just calm down, okay? We're all fans of the show." Except that thewhiteprophet, no stranger to wank herself, seems to be less fannish than mockish--along with lovedoesthat. Fat!Ryoma, anyone? The plot thickens! Gradually word gets around that the original wanker is really *gasp* a Tezuka/Ryoma fan attempting to incite a flame war! Watch the fandom explode!
illogical can't see 'both sides of the issue' at all. "There's no excuse for bashing a pairing of made-up characters. It's just rude and dumb." reddwarfer is outraged. How dare anyone mock her inviolate ship! She feels, uh... violated! "this is what happens when you start shit like this. People who don't like your ship will began to think that: YOUR ENTIRE CORNER OF FANDOM IS FILLED WITH STUPID ASSHATS!!! JUST LIKE THAT WANKER." bookshop/Aja steps up to explain that lovedoesthat isn't even in the fandom. reddwarfer begs to fucking differ, linking to an apparently shippy previous post LDT made to the community. Aja responds huffily: "I'm one of her friends, and I can assure you, she's not a TezuRyo shipper. When she posted to tenipuri, she was mocking everyone equally." Then she adds, "I cannot apologize to you on her behalf, but I do apologize to you as a TezuRyo shipper who has no interest in inciting the Tenipuri lj community to resent us more than they already do." Oh noes! First they run me out of HP fandom, then they attack my ship! Feel my pain!Meanwhile on
sugaahcube's journal, the crowd assembles to laugh and jeer at all those wankers who couldn't take a joke. "It just goes to show that some people are too sensitive to be productive members of the net." [poster's interjection: productive members of the net?] While back on the original post, trembles offers "I must be the only one who found the post kinda funny." Too bad your fandom seems to have left its sense of humor back at the clay courts. This is what you get for letting Harry Potter fans take over.
