The wank never ends!
Just a minor update (yet again!) about the Yahoo Sonic Yaoi list...

The aforementioned argument about the "Auron vs. Tails" fight (which is indeed ridiculousness beyond twilight, crimson beyond blood that flows) has degenerated into the webmaster whining, bitching, griping, and finally, pouting and conceding because people aren't posting replies at the BOTTOM of reply-threads!

Well, shock and fucking horror! That just ruins MY day, I can tell ya that! I can't believe the world is so cruel and unfair and fascist that I have to sit and watch top-posted replies in the safety of my own bedroom... Next thing you know, I'll be forcibly subjected to heterosexuality and fanfics that aren't script-based in format...

Sorry, gonna have to disagree with you there... top-posting is one of those things I feel that people are justified in bitching about, because it's annoying as all hell.

For me, it's not really anything to make an issue out of. Personally, I prefer top-posting, because when I read archives, I read in chronological order, and I feel stupid having to scroll down through the same text over and over and over again. It makes things go a lot quicker(for me) if I see the relevant text right up front.

But also, I don't have a cow if something isn't top-posted, either.

The point isn't where the hell in the reply do you post, it's the fact that someone had to go have a hissy fit about other folk's posting styles.

Personally, I sometimes top-post (mostly for short replies), but most often, I do point-by-point responses (as all too often, my replies are rather lengthy) within the previous reply (with > signs to mark the material I'm quoting, and deleting what I'm not addressing), just so that way people can easily understand exactly what part of their post I'm reacting to. I feel that it's less confusing for the other readers that way, and that I'm less likely to be misunderstood/misquoted if a disagreement happens, but if someone doesn't like it, then that's fine - just don't try to force me to change my method for you when I sincerely believe it to be highly efficient.

I also happen to find one-liner replies that quote the entire previous post - especially if it's a long one, such as when someone posts a fic - pretty irritating, but do you see me going off all over the place about it? No. If I'm the mod of a place, I probably will request that people try not to do that as part of the rules, but I'm not going to have an aneurism if it happens, either.

And thus, that's why I see Mongy's opinion that it's wank. You're welcome to disagree with that all you like, though.

And not only THAT, but it's a hissy fit that was spurned out of an argument that wasn't even at the core of the issue! It's just classic brattiness, really: I'm really angry and whiny about X, and so while I'm at it, I'll bitch and moan about this too!

Hey, two wanks for the price of one! How can you say 'no' to an offer like that? *g*

This is why I hate Yahoo! MLs.
