"It's not about you it's about the fandom!"
Over on FFR, [info]overlord_mordax posts a rant (well, obviously) that can summed up in a few key sentences:

"I find authors who refuse to allow fanfiction to be written, frankly, offensive. It is an insult to your fanbase, it is an insult to the history of narrative, and it is an insult to the authors own skill... Yes, I think that fanfiction authors are the bards of our time, wandering between the colonies of the internet, telling their stories paid only in coins of praise tossed into their hats... All stories are fanfiction, permutations of the natural narrative forces that flow within our souls...In my mind there is only one honest reason an author can give for disallowing fanfiction involving their characters, [sic] They’re afraid. Afraid that their fans can write better stories than they can, that their fans know the characters better than their canon authors do, can bring them to life in prose in ways that would turn the author green with envy."

Okay, so I added some simply because they were hilarious. You got me.

But what is FFR's reaction? Pretty tame, actually, even with hilarious comments like this. Hey, it's possible. The Wachowskis didn't steal everything from Sophie Stewart. But I'm not saying you shouldn't read the FFR post, because it's completely worth it. Tl;dr in parts, but there are numbered lists!

So where's the wank? Why, it's on our very own [info]fandom_discuss! Boom.

Responses include, "no harm, no foul!" "The law can fuck off," "You don't deserve to have fans if you don't let them write fanfiction!," "The laws are stupid," ""What they don't know won't hurt them!" and many, many instances of "I don't like Anne Rice this person, so I don't care what they say anyway! D:<" A lot of people bring up buttsex, because apparently that's why some authors don't like fanfiction or something, and there should be a buttsex law, I'm telling you.

Also, writers should not have free time, even if that free time includes hanging out with those fans of yours. And [info]pyratejenni is everywhere, like the love child of the Energizer Bunny and Nightcrawler. "Mark my words, fandom!" and I couldn't even follow this conversation.

The most hilarious part of this entire report? [info]overlord_mordax has been wanked before. For hating on Terry Pratchett for being "anti-story" in his Discworld Witch books, most of which are rewrites of fables whose messages Pratchett's witches destroy. Either the irony is hot and sexy, or you got punk'd, FFR and [info]fandom_discuss.

Yes, [info]overlord_mordax is here. Don't worry, you can still make fun of her!

ETA: NO. BAD DOGGIE. NO TROLLING THE WANKS. NO BISCUIT! NO BISCUIT!
