All stories are fanfiction, permutations of the natural narrative forces that flow within our souls...In my mind there is only one honest reason an author can give for disallowing fanfiction involving their characters, [sic] They’re afraid. Afraid that their fans can write better stories than they can, that their fans know the characters better than their canon authors do, can bring them to life in prose in ways that would turn the author green with envy." Okay, so I added some simply because they were hilarious. You got me. But what is FFR's reaction? Pretty tame, actually, even with hilarious comments like this. Hey, it's possible. The Wachowskis didn't steal everything from Sophie Stewart. But I'm not saying you shouldn't read the FFR post, because it's completely worth it. Tl;dr in parts, but there are numbered lists! So where's the wank? Why, it's on our very own Responses include, "no harm, no foul!" "The law can fuck off," "You don't deserve to have fans if you don't let them write fanfiction!," "The laws are stupid," ""What they don't know won't hurt them!" and many, many instances of "I don't like Also, writers should not have free time, even if that free time includes hanging out with those fans of yours.
