Emo Wars
Long story short, I checked out the youtube video for Panic! At The Disco's "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" and, lo and behold, there are over a thousand comments. I fully expected them to be along the lines of "thes band R0X0Rs! I <3 [whatever the singer's name is]!" by emogurl91, and a great many of them are. However, a lot more of it is random, generalized wank.

Since I don't understand how youtube's threading works, here's a smattering of comments that I found entertaining:

Durffen's thread, which includes such gems as which ever one of the faggets in this band who wrote this sing is likely to go to hell for 2 things. 1. he said gods name in vain over and over again. 2. their gay an it says in the Bible that Homosexuality is wrong. followed by the always helpful A.) It's spelled "faggots". B.) It's not a "sing", it's a song. C.) It is proper grammar to type out any number below ten. D.) God would be capitalized. E.) Since God is in possession of his name, it would also be "God's" F.) It's "they're" not "their" G.) "And" not "an" H.) There is no need for homosexuality to be capitalized. This is also where troll deadflag makes an appearence with well i was first told to check them out becuase they were and i quote and amazing punk band, and i also check my email and see that i have a replied comment so i look down with the niggers and jews zig heil, and I'm sure you can all guess where that went.

Rockleeluva gets points taken off for the name, but all points are restored for coining my new favorite phrase: OMFG this song rocks i have their CD and i love them lead singer is sofa king hott and if anyone says that they are gay or dumb ar stupid ect. i will hunt you down and MAKE you say other wise. I will be using the phrase "sofa king hott" in every possible context from now on.

funfrog95 thinks they should have monkeys in it monkeys rock, and really, who doesn't like monkeys?

pentagram sez Panic! at the disco isn't punk, its emo fag...(althought punk is for fags too) kicking off a round of Punx vs. Emo, plus another round of Ghey vs. STFU, both of which reemerge throughout the rest of the comments.

mykingdomforakiss posts five rounds of tl;dr comments, which... tl;dr but they seemed to inspire much hilarity for the other posters.

Durffen comes back may, many times, and makes me tired with posts like You chime in with a Hugh dick up you're ass and you're all smiling about it and then you got behind the groom and then you got really horny cause you're fucking queer and anyone who likes this song is just plain gay i don't care about what the faggot ass fans of this song say you can call me a fucking asshole for not liking this piece of shit song im sick of gay Emo Punk indie pop whatever the fck you faggots wanna call this shit band but im sick of em and im sick of the fans to!!!!!!!

Jdan519 confuses even the other posters with yeah i luv this band i mean the douche has makeup like lipstick + ilinder.also a MJ hat.dont soil the name of mychemicalromance by comparing it to this shit.i rather whatch the backstreetboys naked rubbing butter on myself.if u want to c a good band check out foofighters, and its not that emo punk shit, where they want to cut there wrist + block there eyes.jeez get a life

...and then I passed out and my head hit the space bar, but when I woke up, Metalshead had just posted Truly horrible "music" and i use the term losely. They have no technical skill or originality, the singers voice it terrible. It is a true reflection of the poor state of music today. I'm not saying this to piss fans of but to hopefully enlighten them to better music that is out there at the present and in the past. Have a look at JEFF BUCKLEY i can assure u will love it. which, Jeff Buckley? I have nothing against the man, but why not just recommend Mozart, or diet Dr. Pepper for all the relevance it has to this song.

It's good for laughing at stupid emo kids, but it does go on a bit. Of course, it also helps to imagine that every single poster is MsScribe.

I've heard two songs by that band, and they've both exhausted me. There's way too much information in the lyrics - it's like listening to someone singing the fine print of an insurance policy.

I kinda like that about them. Different strokes, I guess.

Oh, Panic!... songs that sound like they'll get great any moment now, yet never quite do, and then get stuck in your head for two months. Guys who sing about Chuck Palahniuk while dressed like Alex DeLarge's droogies and somehow still end up on MTV. And touring with the Dresden Dolls because, well, just because.

Do we love them? Do we hate them? Would they invent fiftysomething new words just to express this entirely new lovehate sensation? (Answer: duh.)

What, no one commenting on Ryan Ross's slow transformation into a chick? I mean, not that he had far to go to begin with, but. For shame, people! I demand discussion of RyRoss and his makeup and his bizarre fashion sense. Be more interesting, wankers!

::eyes glaze over::

Hugh Grant rubbing butter over his naked body whilst listening to monkeys playing Jeff Buckley...

Well, it's more coherent and more interesting than Panic! At the Disco or their legions of crazy stalkers, so I'll take what I can get.

Also: Jeeez, there's metaphorically pretentious, then there's enough synthetic poetic wangst to gag an English major. Shut up, Panic! At the Disco.

The most amusing thing about the song is hearing God bleeped out on the radio. I burst into fits of giggles when I hear it on the radio. But it is a catchy song and like Fall Out Boy's singles I got hooked on the song for one little bit of the song and ended up shelling out the money for the cd. Damn them and their catchy lyrics. I'd wager that in a few months the wannabe emo kids praising Panic! At The Disco to no end will latch on to some other band as the best band ever.

With all the talk of satanists and hell going on there I'd be amused to see these same group of people discuss Flyleaf.

I'd like that song more if they took the lyrics out. P!ATD are pretty interchangeable with Fall Out Boy, aren't they?
That is, they make fun, catchy songs with emo-wangsty lyrics.

So, where's the supposed Satanism?

I'll say it now..

Fall Out Boy, P!AtD and other incarnations are not emo! It's pop punk!

I just wish people would understand that and just not label everything that's wangsty music that these days. The same goes to today's so-called indie rock thats(sp??) on major labels.

Jackman? Grant? Dancy? I need to know which "Hugh" is up "you're" ass, people!

I kinda want to hate P!ATD but I can't. I have to love any band with riduculously long song titles. I think they're adorable, even if "adorable" is probably not what they're going for.

I love this band. Great sound, and interesting lyrics that say something that hasn't already been said a thousand times before, in a unique and humorous way. It's something I can listen to multiple times without getting bored. The video is fun.

It seems like a strange place to take a stand for GOD against GAY. Seriously, it's a freaking song that appeals to a fringy audience. Ya wanna hear tunes about God, go listen to Christian Radio.

Ewww. I don't like P!ATD in the first place because the singer can't sing worth shit (he doesn't even sing in the couple of songs I've heard; it's more like listening to really emo slam poetry), so this whole wank isn't winning them or their fans any style points.

...I still can't get the idea of RPS involving the lead singer and Hugh Grant out of my head, though. Mmm...yes.
