I loved the wank, but as a newbie over here on Journelfen, I have a question...

This place has the greatest array of icons I've ever seen in my life. Is there some form of protocol for using someone else's icons? Should you write to them and ask them (I'm assuming) or not bother with that?

I honestly don't mean offense by the question. I really just don't know anything about "icon etiquette."

It's generally not a good idea to ask for someone's personal (user) icons but there are communities, like the one that I wanked, lotricons over in Live Journal, where you can take whatever is offered and just leave a note thanking and complimenting the one who made them. Another good communty on LJ is iconaddicts and I got my infamous Fizzgig here on Journal Fen from

icons

If you want a custom-made icon you can throw out requests on those communities that take requests. (Iconaddicts does not, by the way.)

	Always ask permission to use icons. Most people love to give them out but hate when someone takes them without telling them first. I honestly don't mean offense by the question. Yeah, I love the wonderful icons here. The best thing is that you don't have to be a l33t iconner to make something which looks great, or that people will enjoy. So much more of a community (almost fandom like... ^_~) atmosphere.

If you'd like to use someone elses icon then yes, ask them first! There are also various icon communities around the place, I see you've been pointed their way :)

	I don't claim to speak for other icon creators, but with mine (like yon Fizzgig!), everyone in the whole world is free to use them. That's what I make them for. I don't care if you comment, I don't care if you credit me, but I would like people to share them. And I'm glad that one's getting so much use all around.
