Wicked Wank
I was just cruising around YouTube when I came across a fan made trailer for the musical "Wicked".

The wank happens in the comments with people arguing over who is a better Elphaba, Stephanie J. Block or Idina Menzel.

Click on the "View All Comments" button and then scroll about halfway down and you will start to see it.

Stephanies the best..theres no question..I don't want to hear this Idina rocks bullshit..

Also I hate it when people pronouce her name Eyedina, it;s annoys me so much. Her is AHdina, stupid little gay little grr.

...That has to be one of the strangest sentences I've ever read. "Stupid little gay little grr"

I thought it was Idina, with the 'I' like the 'I' in "is".

Aww, Wicked. Such a cute little fandom! *pats on head*

(And I haven't heard Stephanie, but if she doesn't gasp for air every five seconds like Idina does, I'd be very happy).

(Oh, and Idina's extremely nasal, which is annoying. But she *did* win the Tony! And she's a great Maureen.)

I only had a problem with her gasping during The Wizard and I and thought she kicked ass everywhere else. But I also have not heard Stephanie, so cannot comment on who's better.

I think Idina Menzel is honestly one of the few people whose nasal voice actually works, because it's incredibly pure. The problem is that you need to pick the right roles to fit her. I think Wicked worked well in this respect, as did RENT (though I'm not fond of that show) but she certainly can't play any part in the world.

Take away the "Eye" and the "AH" and you have my first name. Should I be proud?

Anyway, I would love to see this play! I have the song Popular and everytime I listen to it, it haunts my brain for weeks @_@

Anyway, I would love to see this play!

I Google video searched a while back and found an OBC video of Wicked! I just wanted to pass the link along.

The book was much darker. Depends on where your tastes lie, really.

And how much of a musical freak you are. ^^; I saw Ben Vereen as the Wizard. That made it for me.

I thought the musical was good until the very end, when I suddenly got hit by a truck full of stupid.

I mean, that ending: what?

Especially when the show is hyped up beyond belief and then you see it and are, meh.

I was especially "bzuh?" when I read Son of a Witch and saw that it was dedicated to the original cast of Wicked. I mean, you have characters with the same names and some similar plot points and all, but the book is a much better book than the musical is a musical.

Hated the book, 'cause I don't think Mr. McGuire can write a story to save his life. He always has interesting ideas, but can't execute them in an entertaining or engaging manner whatsoever. After Wicked and Stepsister, I decided I wasn't wasting my time anymore.

Isn't it nice how a musical about friendship and individuality produces wank and stupidity?
I love fandom.

Can't we all just stop fighting and concentrate on the obviously-not-just-friends love between Glinda and Elphaba? Fiyero (at least, musical Fiyero) was clearly the male equivalent of a beard. Plus they totally fucked up his characterization in the musical. There's no way that Elphie would be legitimately interested in him as he appears there.

I mean, I'm not normally the first one to see a slash pairing, but damn. It's practically canon.

Not really interested in the musicalverse, but Glinda/Elphaba is *so* canon. SO, SO CANON.

Fiyero's "transformation" into the scarecrow (or "straw man") supports your hypothesis. ;)

And Elphaba's father did have that thing going with Turtle Heart...

Musical Fiyero is nothing more than book Avaric at the time Elphaba's supposed to be falling for him. I really did a double-take the first time I heard the soundtrack.

If I was sure it wasn't going to get me flambe'd to a crisp, I'd jump in with the fact that I prefer Eden Espinosa, but yanno, I think I'll just skip on that one.

Clearly the only thing to fight for in Wicked is the magic of Kristin Chenoweth.
