Wham bam, we're in a jam! ([info]sarajayechan) wrote in [info]fandom_wank,

Old lesbian wankage
Someone reports "Arisugawa's Locket" to GAFF. People complain about the premise, the "everyone's gay!femslash", the non-canon pairings without backstory and explanation.

Then the author addresses the GAFF report in the story.

Small, but heated.

Looks like the GAFF thread has been deleted. :-/

But the reviews for the story are somewhat amusing......

It's still there. GAFF's boards just tend to go down an awful lot.

I wasn't able to read the comments, either, but the writer's response was good-humoured and might've been funnier if I'd known the characters. She doesn't seem the type to erupt into a fireball of spitting hatred, somehow, which is good for her but does tend to reduce the entertainment possibilities of the wank.

"From the shadows Excel Excel emerged first, then Hyatt, both of them carrying large swords and grinning evily"

Le sigh. Clearly this fic belonged on GAFF, everybody knows Hyatt dies if she lifts more than a finger. I mean come ON.

Shame, I liked that story. The credit notes get a bit repetitive and the writing's nothing special, but it doesn't take itself too seriously and the relationships are very cute.

*Sigh* Yes GAFF has gone really down hill if something as facetious as "Arisugawa's Locket" is now regarded as "badfic". I wish I could smack the lot of them (and prolly provide lots of enertainment for everyone here) but since the damn board is broken, nothing doing.

To be fair, the premise is off the wall and the fact that the story's been running for 75 chapters makes me go @_@. But the guy can spell, he's not claiming his fic is canon, and he's just having a little fun. :P

I think it's even sadder that the best "sporking" they can come up with is: "NOOOO! So and so would NEVER open a lesbian bar!" I couldn't find one goddamn joke on the first page.

GAFF still has an unreliable board? It's been quite some time since we've had some juicy GAFF related wank and it was a problem then. Seems to me, that the excuse was the site guru couldn't afford to pay for more bandwidth yet he would accept anyone helping pay for it until he could pay for it himself first. Circle of stupidity....

ehh, most of GAFF's contains fic that isn't godawful and what is out there is plentiful, yet they don't have it. Have you ever read some of their own fics? Mr. Pot? Meet Mr. Kettle.

That's EXACTLY what I was wondering, I'm in the same boat as you and while the fic never really interested me I'm amazed it's still going ON. But then again, wasn't there a fic in Sorcer Hunters that was around 50 + something chapters and the longest fic in ff.net history? Maybe they're going for the record...

Dare I even ask if anything actually HAPPENS in those 74 chapters? Even if it's a silly fic, that is way too much for a simple fanfic.

Long? Not really. These chapters have 2 1/2 pages at most in word. It's just basically a collection of cameo appearances.

Not very interesting, imho, but it's really not overly long. It's just blown up a bit by the short chapter length.

For 74 chapters, though, the word count isn't that high (105k). I've been following a fic that's got "only" 21 chapters, but over 350k words.

Heh. GAFF strikes me as more inherently wanky here than the author. I mean, seriously, he answers their god-awfuling of his story with a light-hearted premise, and they go over and flame him. Laaaaaaame. If you can't take it, don't dish it.
