ff.net review wank, small but potent
A popular Gravitation fic suddenly gets a less-than-glowing review, and hell breaks loose.

Highlights:

-The author bitches out the negative reviewer and makes a contest: Whoever scolds the meanie flamer the best gets to name Yuki and Shuichi's adopted child who needs 12 pills a day because he has a disease that makes him throw tantrums!

-Godwin's law broken by Wank It.

-The snark pours in as soon as the story is linked to on fanficrants (bad form, yo)

The story itself is cliched and turns into flat-out glurge after chapter 17.

Blah. The reasoning is lame at best. I did submit a review saying that if she posted what 'disease' she spoke of, I'd look it up in my medical dictionary. No, I'm not expecting anything to come of this, but it's worth a try. It's not nice to mess with people who've been to medical school (or fake medical school, as it were for me).

I know what disease that is. It's very rare. It's called 'Being A Child of Shuichi'. The next child will probably have a disease where he needs to take pills to prevent him from telling people their music sucks every five minutes. It's very tragic.

Good lord. You'd think the reviewer had run over the Author's puppy, then backed up and did it again, from the way he/she/it reacted.

Hahahhaha. That's hilarious. Hell, if this were like a couple of years back, I'd have read every chapter and possibly told her what I thought of each and every one. XD

Sadly, as it now stands, I can barely stomach reading ONE chapter, let alone 26 of those badly punctuated things. :X

Because that isn't self-important twattery or anything. "Hi, I have 23042351251465 reviews asking me to 'RITE MOAR PLZ :D', so obviously I'm better than you!"

The fact that she's obviously attention-whoring for more reviews by making that 'contest' is the extra-spoogy icing on the wank cake.

Bless you, ff.net. You never fail to disappoint.

You know, I post things on my LJ first specifically to get people who know what they're talking about to LOL and say, "What do you think you're doing with that, Fern?" Then I can clean it up for later archiving. And if it comes to something like needing a disease... well, there are lots of places to ask questions before you start to write. Little_details comes to mind immediately. At SQ, we have a whole subforum devoted to asking research questions... which are generally asked either before or during the writing of a thing, not after.

Yes, fan fiction is a place for aspiring writers to practice without a lot of pressure, but practicing bad habits isn't going to get you any better at the thing. If you don't like the actual work part of learning to write, find a new hobby, kthnxbai. Wouldn't you have more fun doing something you, you know, like?

Sorry, must occasionally grump about this weird belief that writing is something that anyone can do, and shouldn't require any attempt to improve.

I do know that I found the reviews mind-blindingly stupid. I'm afraid I couldn't get to the relevant part, because I was too busy wondering what the hell was up with these freaks.

NOW IM NOT GOING TO SCHOOL, I CANT STOP CRYING! i have to admit, it was good, until the 26 chapter! write another one, please, but with a HAPPY ending! damn! i cnat stop crying, and now my throat hurts! i agree with that other review, go rot in hell! (as long as you write more HAPPY fan fics!) im traumatized for life!

Please excuse Janie's absense from school yesterday. She read fanfic in which Suichi died and thus lost her will to function for the remainder of the day. Surely you can understand. Thank you.

I admit, I choked when I saw the "justification" for how Yuki knew all the intimate details of the criminal's life. This may actually done in some places, but, somehow, I don't think any police organization would be stupid enough to tell every last little insignificant fact about a felon to a witness they're questioning, especially if there may be some potential for a trial later on. I mean Jesus.
