ON NOTICE: WANKERS
So the Emmys were on the other night. Said awards show was anxiously anticipated by fans of The Colbert Report.

Someone lost a category they were nominated in to Barry Manilow.

Cue 18 pages of mainly whining.

Not being made of strong enough stuff to wade through all those pages, especially since a lot of it is actually (shudder) related to the rest of the Emmys (consistently spelled Emmy's, no less), we do get a nice summation of the wank in this post: Hay guys he did win for writing so stfu lol.

Gems: taking it personally!; nonsensical ramblings about possible photoshopping efforts and arguing with the mod!; RPS arguments! (Stephen kissed Jon, omg squee!); Jon felt bad about winning, and Stephen had to respect his crew, yo; and a separate thread bitching about spoilers. Fun for all.

While Rocza's beating-slashers-with-their-own-arms preoccupation is worrisome, I have to say that the Jon/Stephen icon emblazoned with "wuv" is somehow more bewildering.

And I'm still trying to wrap my brain around this one: I always liked Julia Louis-Dreyfus. She's so pretty but that never kept her from being funny.

I never got why people let themselves get so bent out of shape by this kind of thing. Sure I'm disappointed when my favorite show or actor doesn't win, or even get nominated *cough*Oded Fehr*cough*. but I'm not going to go into an emo tizzy about how people have no taste and the world is ended. Really it's dumb and the people they feel have been slighted probably care a lot less than these fans do.

Haha. Frankly I think everyone should be glad that the wank was against Barry Manilow and not Jon Stewart for beating him in some categories. I'm not sure that's possible, because the communities are so incestuous that they're comprised of almost entirely the same people, but wouldn't it be interesting?
