Fail mods are failing

[info]sepiamagpie
Dearest, beloved, Fandom Wank.

I know you were looking forward to great excitement today. Some of you said words to me that indicated you anticipated fiery 'judgement' upon those who remained fresh and dewey white, those you call n00bs.

Anyway, you got today instead.

Stop anticipating things, we'll just break your hearts.

Sincerely,

Sepia P. Magpie, Esq.

PS: Use this post to reflect on how you could be better people. Or just fuck around in the comments.

Ahh DW fandom. Never stop.

[info]taleya
[info]tzikeh has a burning issue and a desire to ask a question of Doctor Who fen that is fandom specific, but not so specific to actually be referred to, even when asking permission of the mods to explore the question.

Eventually someone winkles the Great Mystery out of her, and it turns out that all Doctor Who fans are apparently Icon-thieveing bastards.

Evidently she's discovered one of the few pockets of wank that hasn't yet been thoroughly explored by the DW fandom, and the fur begins to merrily fly to correct this.   Arguments on fair use, pointing out that US law is not international law, cries of "Get the hell over it" and threats of litigation from felines commence

bandom_wank

[info]jar
So! There is a bandom specific anonymous mocking comm over here on JF that is called [info]bandflesh. It's all flashing text and caplock lulz and stupid anon shenanigans... until certain people decide that it's all too much for them. To the point of: Quite a few of the defriendings were people I have met IRL, care about a lot, a couple of them I even consider good friends.

Mmhmmm.

I wasn't sure if this was quite wanky enough for F_W itself, even though I got some lulz out of it.

[ETA]: Oh dear: South Part and Fandom Wank paved the way to a world where being a giant fuckwit is admirable and hilarious. And it makes me feel so vulnerable and unhappy and lonely, because how can I trust anyone?

:(.

[ETA2]: And:

[info]shoemaster wrote: It certainly creates the opportunity for dialogs such as this, now doesn't it?

THE FANDOM DOES NOT CONFORM TO *MY* WISHES WAH, Twincest Edition

[info]vergilsparda
In [info]vergil_fangirls, [info]rosiesintherain posts:

I know I'm going to be stomped with flames and insults for asking, but why exactly do people like Dante/Vergil?

It's something I never understood. I understand people appreciating the brotherly (FAMILY) love between them. The fact that they're so different and would definately be willing to kill each other, but they can't bring themselves to completely hate each other. Lady and Arkham had that too. Despite all the horribly things that Arkham had done to both her and others, she was still saddened when she killed him. Same with Dante. Despite what Vergil had done to him and was planning on doing to the world, when he left the human world forever, he was saddened by that too.

I don't find it romantic in the least and I don't understand why people try to make it out to be. I don't think someone can completely hate their family member, and DMC3 decided to play on that. And it's fairly obvious that Dante likes women. He hits on almost all the DMC girls, has naked pictures of women in his office, and totally got a boner the moment he saw Nevan. I don't think he's ever done that around Vergil.

Plus.... they're brothers. That's just sick.

So since there seems to be quite a lot of twincest fans here, I'd like to hear what they have to say. It confuses me when people dislike Dante/Trish because Trish is a clone of his mother, but turn around and say that two brothers fucking is hot.

Just curious.

YAY WANK! )

Small WoW Geek Tantrum

[info]lyssa
For anyone that doesn't play World of Warcraft, there are these stupid quests you can do everyday at max level to get some cash. They are called dailies, and most people hate them, but need the cash. One set of them, known as the Skettis, has an escort quest. It can respawn after someone else has done it.

Enter Flenn. Flenn was being all helpful and trying to get a group together for this escort daily. He took his little time, and advertised on general (a chat a lot of 70s turn off as it's mostly annoying spam), had some people together, and even killed all the mobs around the escort quest. He was ready to escort the hell out of this quest, and he was nice enough to even start a group for! What a wonderful team player.

But then, a big meanie named Draeno from Second to None (one of the larger raiding guilds) came and took the escort quest before poor little Flenn could start the quest or message him if he would like to group. So, Flenn and his party had to wait a full ten minutes!!!! for the quest to respawn.

Now, this kind of shit happens all the time. You clear mobs around your herb to pick them, and someone snaked it while you were fighting. Someone killed the elite monster you needed for your quest. This is the minor stuff that most people shrug off and go about their day, especially as half the time such slights are unintentional. It's just a part of the game. If someone is really mad, they contact a guild officer from the guild the person that irked them belongs to. That's pretty much standard WoW etiquette.

But, apparently, Flenn was hurt so badly by the big meanie that he had to post a complaint on the WoW forums, where a bunch of asshole trolls live.

I'm still not quite sure what he was expecting

It's small, but destined to keep going, as Flenn tirelessly responds to just about every post, assuming he's very, very, clever, and in doing so, feeds the trolls who are thinking this is Christmas.

(But, really, he doesn't care).

In the interest of full disclosure, I am in this wank in a minor cameo, and am biased (being in Second to None, not that I know the big meanie). However, I only posted twice, and am not planning to post more. I'm pretty sure I'm not the big star wanker in there, especially in the light that I'm not funny enough. If it needs to be moved to [info]i_wank, then by all means, that's where it should go.

It looks like BRPS is trying to keep up with fanficrants.

iwanttobeasleep
BPRS wank, amusing, but small.

[info]water_rose rants about a pair of jerkoffs on her RPG making light of raping her character.

Sorry guys, but I don't find rape funny. Most people with even a trace of common sense don't find the subject amusing. You don't know me at all, so therefore I will admit you have no way of knowing I was assulted when I was younger, but WTF gave either of you the idea such a thing was even remotely worth saying?! I've had years to deal with my experience and you guys didn't upset me more then the moment of brain-breaking shock you gave me but on a game as large as Achaea did it not cross your tiny minds that there just MIGHT be assult and/or rape survivors on the game?

There is a lot of agreeing that those guys are asshats and rape in RPGs should either never be done or that if it is done they need permission first. But not everyone is understanding.

[info]iamseph: I know I'm going to get flamed for saying this, and it's nothing personal, but so the fuck what?
People get bullied, pushed around, beaten up, thrown into pits of caustic slime and all sorts of other things in RPGs, none of these things are very nice and there is the high possibility that these things have happened to other players too in such a large game. I've a few of violent and aggressive characters and if everyone my character threatened with a beating went on a whining bent over how they're traumatised for life because they were beaten up once at school because of it and somehow seemed to think I was doing it as a joke, I would then carry through with the characters threats just to make them realise how goddamned seriously dangerous my violent characters are.

But it gets best when [info]angelicdominic points out the irony of being OMG so hurt by the threat of rape, then going around and telling anyone with an internet connection that she was assaulted.

[info]kepulver: So, because a person can say "I've been raped/assaulted" they are therefore not allowed to be angry when people treat their experiences as a joke/stupid threat on an RPG?

[info]skyshark: Yeah. More people should live in fear, silence, and shame, and certainly never try to discourage an atmosphere that supports people who think like their attackers. They really ought to be quiet when they're in a textual world of anonymity. And if something upsets them, there's no need for them to do anything but suck it up! It's not like the topic should be more important to them as a survivor, or anything. It's only a major traumatic incident.

I should find someone who experienced a rare flesh-eating disease and ask them to come play the part of a patient with a terminal illness in my new production. If they object in front of people, I'll be sure to send you a tape. Comedy at its best, baby.

I'm a little disappointed it left the main page before it kicked off.

[info]lurgy thinks the new layout at [info]deleterius sucks, and requests that it be changed. The mod, [info]tviokh, refuses to do so. Both wank.

And yet, still nothing on the rampant twincest.

[info]dikaios
Reporting in from the Devil May Cry fandom.

Just when I was proud to say that I hadn't seen too many wanks from my fandom, something has to come up and prove me wrong.

It's a charming, bite-sized wank that starts with Soan posting a meme from their journal in a Devil May Cry community on LJ.

Emily_jayden comments on it in a rather fangirly manner. Itzcolihqui takes issue with the typing style of the comment (even when they themselves seem to have a broken shift key). Hilarity ensues.

(As well as a cheap excuse to use this icon.)

ETA: Itcolihqui posts in rabidfanssuck to bitch about the issue.

Son of ETA: Entry in rabidfanssuck is bahleeted, but [info]crysiana has a screenshot in the comments here.

The Saiyuki Wank Incident

[info]majinkarp
I love my fandom dearly, but this needed to be wanked.

Sariyuki started a "38 Incidents" project to promote Sanzo x Hakkai: authors are writing toward a goal of 38 ficlets for an underrepresented pairing. It's been a hit so far--22 fics submitted in a little over a month. It's a nice idea, because the fandom is pretty much dominated by 58 (Gojyo x Hakkai) and 39 (Sanzo x Goku). Sure, it's not canon, but come on, THERE IS NO CANONICAL YAOI IN SAIYUKI. The beauty of the series is that you can pair up virtually any of the characters.

Non-38 fans start complaining. Why? Because of the contest's sudden popularity. Because it's supposedly increased the amount of crap on FF.net. Because 38 conflicts with their "canonical" OTP. Despite the fact that THERE IS NO CANONICAL YAOI IN SAIYUKI. 38 fans get called upon to justify their pairing. Someone even proposes a "39 Incidents" project, to combat the onslaught. 39 is possibly the most popular Saiyuki pairing out there, so holding a similar challenge for it would be moot, and contradicts why the "Incidents" project was created in the first place.

*clears throat* I'm both a 38 and 58 fan myself, so it really cheeses me to see that fans on both sides can't get along.
