She even did the interview in the Chewbacca costume, despite her height and the fact she actually did the whole role from a recording booth.

As a normal person*, I have no powers against this blatant disenfranchisement and marginalization except that of my limited wallet, and I will say this. From this day forward I will not pay for an official piece of Sailor Moon material released from this date forward. I am boycotting Sailor Moon for the actions of Naoko Takeuchi — make no mistake Viz and Toei Animation are culpable as well, but in their defense, they are transparent in that they make the real culprit clear — the woman who authored the manga that inspired the anime and now has taken over the inspired creation.

She understands it's going to be a hard path, but she will face that path. And she's doing it because god help you if you call Sailor Moon Usagi.

I know my action alone is meaningless, but I encourage others to not pay and not give anything official any more time. It’s not enough to complain. We have to take the power away from them that we gave them to redress this wrong.

Sailor Moon CX will no longer update. As much as I would love to finish the story in a “Take That” no one reads it and no one cares, so I am abandoning it. I won’t burden people with my presence much longer.

To conclude, Viz is a monster, Naoko Takeuchi is a monster, and she's not posting her fanfic anymore.

Once upon a time there was Kia, aka Angelica Caprice aka absintheminded aka kiastar67 aka AyahuascaDreams, a Wincest-shipping self-professed vegetarian vampire who feels she has been persecuted on the internets.

No, seriously.

Kia's problems with the internets started on buzznet.com, where some of her statements were brought into question. For example, there's the bit where she said the show Supernatural promotes factual interpretations of paganism and paranormal whatnot. (Her posts were deleted, but the bulk of them remain as quotes in other people's posts. Watch for kiastar67 or absintheminded.)

Also, she found herself the subject of mockery for discussing her vampiric and/or sanguinarian leanings. In a Question of the Day post about vampires, Kia took a question about the vampire bill of rights seriously:

Yes, it is called the Black Veil! It was written a while back by a Sanguinarian from House Kheperu and COVICA . It is a code of Ethics for the Vampire/ Vampyre/ Sanguinarian community!

And, when prodded further, proceeded to claim that author Charlaine Harris is secretly promoting the sanguinarian agenda.

Well, I'm SURE no one here knows exactly where she got it or her EXACT meaning or purpose.

And then, as if realizing she was burying herself, decided to bury buzznet readers. In text.

And then gets into an argument over whether or not she said vampires were sanguinarians, or whether or not she knows psychic vampire sanguinarians, or . . . Yeah. It goes on for just about ever.


Things stayed quiet for a little bit. Then, on November 19th, tumblr user focahontas posted a screencap of some of Kia's crazy. This post got reblogged by a few users, then by newageamazon, who added "Fun fact, folks: nobody cares if you wank to Wincest. But if you habitually make yourself look like an idiot in a public forum? That’s when people start to care."

Doing so, of course, was like throwing rocks at the proverbial beehive.

Kia responded by getting a little passive-aggressive on her twitter. She performed brilliant tactical ass-covering by cutting out letters of the names of people she felt had wronged her, thus rendering her invisible to the eye of the internets. No one ever saw her snarking against those internet meanies, or expressing at length her thoughts on her oppression.

Wait, that's not how it worked at all. Seriously, someone get this woman a livejournal. (Extra points for Godwin's, "I'm not anti-gay, I have gay friends," use of "feminist" as an insult, and a random PERSECUTION macro.)

Buzznet user bznetgossipgrl tried to inject sanity into the cause; Kia responded by ejecting a rainbow-tone dissertation all over her myspace. Dissenters shall be obliterated! Though . . . if you scroll down far enough on her myspace, you'll learn how to curse people in the name of the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit--you know, like they did in the Old Testament. Or how to summon your very own sex demon.

Her long-winded attacks on high-profile buzznet members--a mod included--eventually resulted in her being banned from buzznet. So, feeling extra-persecuted, Kia fired off a cease & desist to Buzznet staff. This cease & desist. Word for word. LiveJournal is holding elections for a users' representative on the LJ Advisory Board. Among the candidates are jameth and legomymalfoy. There are other candidates, bugt these two have the most attention. Depending on who you talk to, jameth is a witty, widely read LJ celebrity/troll who kicks people when they're down, and legomymalfoy is a fannish member in good standing of LJ Abuse/Establishment Pig who left her fellow fen out to dry during Strikethrough.

This being LJ-related, there's wank. Sweet Mother of God, is there wank.

It starts with a post from jameth about possible ballot-stuffing and rolls downhill from there. Accusations of jameth's newest campaign icon triggering seizures in epileptics (sorry, no links - the one I saw on metafandom has been locked down). Supporters of both candidates being called trolls (too many threads to link) and accusations of smear campaigns on both sides. The "sleeping giant" of fandom being awakened. Like the dragon!

By Monday, legomymalfoy was in the lead. But that's not enough bookshop, aka Aja. Because jameth is still a menace to LJ! So she encourages people to spam fannish LJ communities to get out the vote.

Not everyone agrees. Comments are deleted. jameth shows up, and Aja freezes the thread.

And what's a fandom popularity conest debate without Godwin's?

Over in lj_biz, burr86 clarifies LJ's stance on exactly what material is not allowed on LJ.

It began with "Thanks!" comments, but quickly grew with plenty of people asking questions and LJ getting their internet lawyer involved.

And now there are cat macros and a community to discuss what is obscene on LJ a la the Miller Test.

Plus comments like "you are all just spoiled brats who want to write Harry/Dobby porn". (I'd link to the exact comments, but I'm a spoilerphobe.)

So, deu_sex_machina over on LJ specialises in MSTing choice HP fics (in the true sense of MST for once).

About a year ago, they MST'd a fic called "Furry Magic", which involves some 100 chapters of... um, well, at least were-leopards and Harry Potter being the Chosen Mate of Lucius Malfoy, the big enchilada of said were-leopards. And so on.

Today, enter doingsoso. S/he decides to unleash a spate of verbal diahorrea on the commenters, working in my unprofessional opinion with either too much caffeine, from general sense of great batshittery and/or with the wounded ego of a true furry-vampsex-mpreg fan. In any case, s/he replies to every comment made to the MST post, with choice gems being:

I'll go down fighting tooth and and nail for the right of people to write anything they want, the way the want, about anything they want, without being hit on by censorship Nazis of any kind. Even Harry Potter fan fiction censorship nazis.

LaFeeMechante, aka ginny_weasley, receives an e-mail from one of the site maintainers, Lord Somethingorother, that contains pointless emoticons and plenty of condescension :). Ginny_weasley is not happy. Cue petition.

For anybody who has been under a rock for the last few years and somehow missed it, goatse.cx is a domain registered so that somebody would have a place to post a photo of a guy stretching his anus. It has achieved considerable notoreity, being right up there with tubgirl and the breast larvae on the list of links sent to unsuspecting and annoying newbies.

So the other day, somebody saw the photo, complained, and the people who run .cx suspended the site. I'm frankly amazed that it took so long.

As might be expected, the fans of goatse.cx have plenty to say about this. They're currently at six pages on the feedback forums, and growing. They've started a petition. They're complaining about censorship! "Help! Help! I'm being oppressed!"
