ofdrumsthesound is an RP journal for the Master from Doctor Who that appears to have gained some measure of notoriety around my local RP meme comms. I can't personally comment on their IC conduct since I've never interacted with them but I've gathered from a few of my colleagues that they tend to be both out-of-character and not an easy character to deal with.

( But that's not their only problem. )

EDIT: Apparently this has been going on for several years, in different incarnations. A BRPS post explains the player's time at dear_multiverse, which includes conduct like this and driving off multiple players through their behavior. This eventually resulted in a ban for being a general godmoding squeeharshing buzzkill.

I don't think autism and social awkwardness are going to explain a multiyear fetish for creeping people out.

Thanks to wank_report for this. A brief heads up - there is one bit of unfunny in this, but it's only one small bit out of the entire history of her wankiness.

Background: firemikokagome is a devout and entitled Sailor Moon Sapphire & Demando ship fan. According to people in the fandom, Sapphire and Demando are brothers, and it's considered incest.

Firemikokagome was banned from FFR for breaking the rules in 2008. According to an anon, she failed to reply to the mod note informing her for breaking the rules and wound up banned. She started to create multiple sockpuppets to get around the ban, one of which was eurasiangirl (later hikariofdark4). She was banned again each successive time she was discovered, up to the point LJ Abuse warned her to stop creating sockpuppets and suspended all her accounts. This suspension presumably erased all documentation of her activities at this point, so we only have an anon comment to go by.

Cut to 2010, where she creates hikariofdark4 and crossposts a role-play related rant to FFR and bad_rpers_suck, whining why no one wants to play out her pairing with her:

It all begins when theamaranthe posts to Bad Roleplayers Suck about application problems at a certain community...a roleplaying comm for “a city that needs sex to survive.” They suggest that, instead of asking for multiple revisions and edits and generally stringing a player along, maybe they should just try telling a player they’re not wanted. A few comments sympathize with OP; but a few people think the OP has posted to the wrong comm and is TOTALLY JUST BUTTHURT and start high-fiving each other over their glorious smackdown of OP. That will show theamaranthe not to post to the wrong community again, and keep it to Bad_Mods_Suck! Remember the name itsafuckingsock—they show up later.

The SCP Foundation is creepypasta that evolved into its own wiki: it's a series of articles presented as the internal documentation of an organization that stores and studies supernatural or otherworldly entities and phenomena. It's got a convincing real-world horror bent and is fairly popular.

A while back, a few people decided to start a panfandom livejournal roleplay based on the SCP Foundation. Since there's a fair bit of overlap in audiences, Project SCP immediately garnered good word-of-mouth and a lot of interest on LJ's own RP-oriented anonymous discussion board, rpanoncomm. In fact, one of the first people who applied to the game was darksunlight, an admin of the SCP Foundation wiki (after he noted some misgivings about the idea). As one of the original contributors there, he applied for a character who's both part of the original SCP canon and his creation, one Dr. Bright.

Honestly, RPing without prose is what I consider lazy shit. The beginning of comment spam caused a serious downturn of RP on LJ.

First off. You, sir/madam (meaning puzzley, lest anyone get confused) are coming off as either a) Batshit crazy b) lazy as hell c) horrifically uninformed or d) a Troll. I'm not quite sure which.

And the one comment in the flood that actually makes sense:

It's all about personal preference. I'm reading all this and seeing a nice little divide--people who prefer the quick, reactionary style that LJ RPers have mostly adopted, and the more formally written style of most forums. That's where the argument lies--icons are nearly essential to one style, and frivolous to the other.

Including dictionary quotations, smallblackangel shouting "Fallacy!" like the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia cast shouting "Intervention!" last week, and the TOTAL ABUSE OF ALL CAPS.

Sockity_sock makes a horribly vague post to Bad RPers Suck about a sex-based game. From what I can gather, something happened and the players aren't too happy, so they're dropping. Fortunately, some players from that game come along to explain what this is all about, and they happen to disagree with what Sockity_sock has to say.

First off, here's a handy summary of the events that happened. It also has an explanation of playercesting (basically playing two characters and roleplaying with yourself), which will be a word you will hear a lot in this post. The important point to get from here, though, is that a person was caught playercesting (presumably under two names, as people later mention the RPer in question using a fake name later on), which is against the rules, and was asked to drop one of the two characters. Said player then flounced, and was followed by several other people from her characers' canon.

The first bits of disagreement come in this thread, though, as someone politely disagrees with how sockity_sock has worded the post. But that one isn't nearly as fun as this exchange here:

crystaldawn: Oh GOD, some mods somewhere enforced a rule. HOW DARE THEY

sockity_sock: Yeah, because it's TOTALLY fair to enforce a rule that's not actually in the RULES.

FAIL.

crystaldawn: If the person had nothing to hide and wasn't aware of the rule, she wouldn't have created a fake persona to app under.

Also, this has been in place since forever. People routinely ask the mods about it when apping.

And finally, being asked to drop one of the two characters (without any kind of strike, warning, or reprimand) is hardly unfair. No one else is allowed to play characters that close, the girl in question isn't a special snowflake.

Oh, but wait! You can app under a sock account, so it's okay! But actually part of the app asks what characters you already play, so you can't app under multiple socks. But they mischaracterized the relationship between the two characters! Only not really.

Also, here's more explanation of what's going on. And apparently there was massive flouncing to be had. Sadly I can't go and track that down, since the game is locked to players only.

Sockity_sock also flounces from her own post, so the wank was cut short. Oh well, it was entertaining while it lasted.

Also, I did respond in the post (I'm maplepancakes there), but I wasn't involved in the wank itself (talking about lulzy mod tags for the post doesn't count, right?), so it should be okay to post here.

In the beginning, there was a multifandom RPG: Aternatopia, set in the fictional town of Aternaville. Time passed, and ( there was conflict. )

Wow, its been ages since I've done this (Lol, College) but let me give this a go.

A sock provides a rather interesting story about bad role playing Batman/Joker slash on BRPS with a mentally unstable class mate who is also apparently compulsive liar. The post while perhaps dubious is not necessarily wanky.

irelands is just infuriated with the concept that someone dare to slash role play the pairing Joker/Batman (or maybe its just Batman/Joker they have a problem with).

This one's a big one that spans over three communities, so be sure to grab something to eat before you sit down to read this. Also, I couldn't find a specific DAY, but one of the wankers involved listed their birth year as 1990, meaning she would be 18 if she were born on-or-before today's date. I'll delete this if I find out that her birthday is later in the year, but for now I'll post this.

It all starts out on the community rp secrets. This community is just like fandom secrets, except it's for secrets about RPing. For the last couple weeks, rp secrets has been getting secrets about an rp called Discedo. There's so many of them that I can't even link them all without taking up pages and pages, but here's a few examples: cliques, defending the place, more complaining, and complaining about a specific character. Pay attention to that last one, because it'll come up again later.

Mods of Discedo see these secrets, and they make a 'put your complaints here' post. The comments were screened, so that only the mods could see. Two days later they made this post, in which they name the problems that have been brought up to them. Overall there's a couple small kerfluffles, but overall nothing too big here. However, make note of the character journal too_green_eyes. The profile I linked to should look familiar, too. Now, I will be direct in all of this. There is a LOT of discussion going on in all of this, but the important parts to watch are the ones involving leadership. See, before now a couple characters have been 'leading' all of Discedo, and many people are unhappy with that. They want to break up the responsibilities among many. So there's a lot of talk about how to do that, and who should do what.

So, who knew that mindless slash did not an RP comm make? Especially with only two people?

So once upon a time, there was an RP comm named Squenix University. And it was, at first, actually a very enjoyable game, run by Nia and her cohort, Mish. Fun was had by all, there were sparkly unicorns pissing lemonade and gumdrops, rivers of hot chocolate, etcetera, etcetera, lalala.

And then the esteemed mods decided to go into a dormant state, leaving Nat and two others to mod the game, saying their characters are on 'temporary hold'.

Well, fast forward ten months. Throughout this time, the sparkly unicorns have died out, the hot chocolate rivers dried up, but the game is still a fun place to be, and there are many, many people with years of experience tied into this game.

Now, my friends, how long would you consider to be a reasonable 'temporary hold'? If your answer was less than ten months, you and the mods would get along fine. People came and went through the game, some for extended periods of time, and none even knew these pseudo-mods NAMES, much less anything else.

The time had come to open up characters which were obviously abandoned, right?

PERHAPS NOT, say the sleeping Mods. PERHAPS WE WILL DELETE ALL OF THE LOGS AND MAKE THIS A "TWO PERSON RP COMMUNITY". (I shit you not, that was exact wording right there in those cute little quotes.)

So they did. And
Nia posts in her journal in what is a distinctly unapologetic tone.

And all Hell breaks loose across the goddamn board.

May I mention that the majority of those two's posts lay in the region of "pointless boysmut" with a side road into "femmeslash"? And they didn't do things with pretty much anyone else, ever?

It starts when tiakall posts the following clip from an as-yet-unidentified RPer's personal journal:

The initial responses are what would you would normally anticipate: laughter, sarcasm, scorn, even a bit of devil's advocacy...

water_rose and kenderbard are here to rip a few people brand spanking new assholes, particularly tiakall. In the responses it is revealed that tiakall has been in a prior RP with the person she quoted in the original post and had, evidently, less than great experiences with her.

Still, water_rose and kenderbard prove to be plenty wanky in their own right in their unabashed, balls-out defense of their precious player. A few gems:

memento_lucifera: I think you fail to realize that, while your darling player may have said it, it also applies to many other people who have said the same thing and MEANT it in the context that it was posted under.

water_rose: When it's taken directly from my players journal, it IS an attack on her. If it's a general complaint, it can be ranted about in a generalised post without hunting through someone else's LJ for a quote that makes them look bad.

kenderbard: Indeed - it is an attack on her, saying that she is a player who can't distinguish the line between IC and OOC. That couldn't be farther from the truth. Now people are laughing at her, when it isn't deserved. She is my friend, my player, and I hold the right to defend my players from malicious snarks.

Howdy, folks. I'm here to tell a story of a lovely little place called the_blank_slate and a little girl named jainieg who recently got voted off the island.

Bear in mind, I think before today I only heard of the_blank_slate once, when I think I stumbled across the journal for their Artemis Fowl. I think the proper name for it is "Tabula Rasa," and it's sort of like LOST or "Survivor," what with the whole mysteriously stranded on a deserted or not-so-deserted island feel going on.

Anyway, so jainieg plays Shane from The L Word over at Tabula Rasa, and all is sunshine and rainbows and excessive melodrama (because, apparently, excessive melodrama follows Shane around like a little lost puppy begging for its pettings), until . . . well, I'm not sure, really, but there's something about the excessive melodrama being way too excessive for several other players' tastes. Apparently, the complaints were enough to bring together all of the mods for Tabula Rasa, and they descended, hordelike, upon poor unsuspecting jainieg, or at least, that's how she took it.

Bad RPers Suck just surpassed itself. Normally bringing the wank via players complaining about their games, this time the wank centers around an absolutely brilliant post made by a player who was asked to leave a game. Still within standard BRPS material, so far, but where everything gets wanky is where she pastes a chat log to the comm wherein she threatened 'to raise a stink' if banned, and at the end of her BRPS post, attempts to blacklist the game in question by saying everyone should stay the hell away from it.

The initial two comments seem to just back up her right to wank vent, but everything after that is focused on her bad behavior, not the mods, since most members of BRPS are Not Amused at being used as a threat.

An ex-mod weighs in with a quick two sentences but in general, the consensus is against the OP, who thinks that everyone is so MEAN for not paying attention to her personal problems.

Edit: beanarie suggests that janieg remove the last paragraph which is the one that begged everyone to stay away from the game in question, and thereby managed to irk most of BRPS. The paragraph is now missing, so any screencaps of it would be appreciated!

trickster_lord sums up exactly why the post and ensuing comments suck so much, but b_for_bastard's comment fights crime, and thus wins.

Sorry guys, but I don't find rape funny. Most people with even a trace of common sense don't find the subject amusing. You don't know me at all, so therefore I will admit you have no way of knowing I was assulted when I was younger, but WTF gave either of you the idea such a thing was even remotely worth saying?! I've had years to deal with my experience and you guys didn't upset me more then the moment of brain-breaking shock you gave me but on a game as large as Achaea did it not cross your tiny minds that there just MIGHT be assult and/or rape survivors on the game?

There is a lot of agreeing that those guys are asshats and rape in RPGs should either never be done or that if it is done they need permission first. But not everyone is understanding.

People get bullied, pushed around, beaten up, thrown into pits of caustic slime and all sorts of other things in RPGs, none of these things are very nice and there is the high possibility that these things have happened to other players too in such a large game. I've a few of violent and aggressive characters and if everyone my character threatened with a beating went on a whining bent over how they're traumatised for life because they were beaten up once at school because of it and somehow seemed to think I was doing it as a joke, I would then carry through with the characters threats just to make them realise how goddamned seriously dangerous my violent characters are.

But it gets best when angelicdominic points out the irony of being OMG so hurt by the threat of rape, then going around and telling anyone with an internet connection that she was assaulted.

kepulver: So, because a person can say "I've been raped/assaulted" they are therefore not allowed to be angry when people treat their experiences as a joke/stupid threat on an RPG?

skyshark: Yeah. More people should live in fear, silence, and shame, and certainly never try to discourage an atmosphere that supports people who think like their attackers. They really ought to be quiet when they're in a textual world of anonymity. And if something upsets them, there's no need for them to do anything but suck it up! It's not like the topic should be more important to them as a survivor, or anything. It's only a major traumatic incident.

I should find someone who experienced a rare flesh-eating disease and ask them to come play the part of a patient with a terminal illness in my new production. If they object in front of people, I'll be sure to send you a tape. Comedy at its best, baby.
