Who's a good wank? You are! You are!

[info]anthologia
An anon at [info]fandomsecrets is very concerned about typecasting huskies. So upset, in fact, that they make a secret about it.

"stereotype's there for a reason, though- they're highly active working dogs that need to be kept constantly engaged, a LOT of people who have them think they're cute and don't realize that, leading to destructive, unruly and often 'wicked' behaviour"

"and this absolves media of always sticking to the stereotypes

why, the black character is from the hood yet again?

but, stereotypes are there for a reason!"

"What is this, We Can't Read Day? It's not about anger, it's about how damn predictable it is to pick out the troublemaker in a sled dog movie before he even does anything. Right up there I indicate that I'd appreciate being surprised about it for once."

"OP here: The secret says 'Huskies who look like this', not 'huskies'. It's about the facial markings, not the breed. If I'd used an adult with that bandit mask it might have been easier to spot. Who could be mad and little puppy wuppy, even if he does have The Face."

Of course, then we have: What I'm getting from this thread is that apparently most people can't tell dogs' faces apart. Media huskies really do look all alike to you? German Shepherds? Bulldogs? You scare me, internet. Too much time looking at cats.

YOU CAN TAKE OUR FREEDOM BUT YOU WILL NEVER TAKE OUR CAT PICTURES!

Oh, also, an example of a dog racism bumper sticker.

And, finally, we have: SOSHUL EXPERIMENT!

But wait! Is there room for one more bombshell reveal? WHY YES, I BELIEVE THERE IS!

"Read through about half of this thread, and couldn't take it anymore. It's amazing how hyped up people are about a fairly inoffensive thing. I'm ashamed of myself for getting so hyped. I tried to walk away and focus my energies on something important, but I could not resist. DAMN YOU INTERNET.

People only mentioned two movies, Eight Below and Snow dogs. The masked dogs in those movies has the same canine actor in both films. Did any of you ever stop to think that masked dog in both those movies is the same actor and is used for those roles because. A) He has a really distinctive face and is easy for the audience to recognize or B) He is a really well-trained dog. So he can preform the difficult tricks needed for the rebel/troublemaker role."

OH SNAP!

Bonus non-wanky lulz: "Well, I completely missed the meaning of this secret. I thought it was related to shapeshifter AUs in fanfiction, with a specific type of character always being portrayed as that type of dog.

Carry on."

Also, concentrating on the IMPORTANT things!
"That puppy is so adorable and such pretty eyes!"

That mod is a monster! M-M-M-Monster!

[info]dapperdinosaur
There is a little fandom for a line of dolls called Monster High. Tanz_fanatika is a moderator and owner of a popular Monster High com known as monster_high. All seem well, yes?

It is, until a secret appears on Fandom Secret (It's secret number 6). Apparently, someone isn't happy with the way Tanz runs the com. Someone named Nekusagi comments, claiming to be the ban-ee in the secret. It isn't long until an anon informs her that no, this is a different wank. A different person has been banned for saying things in an f-locked post, revealing this isn't the first time Tanz has pulled this kind of thing. The anon drops some interesting links from Tanz's doll blog. She's been openly talking shit on whoever it is that she has banned.

Tanz eventually shows up at Fandom Secret, as well as some of her friends. She insists that if someone has a problem with her they should tell her to her face:

"Then people you care about should have handled the issues with me directly. I gave the opportunity for communication."

"People who deal with problems directly are more respected than those who don't. There's at least a chance then that things can work out. But if you don't even try to communicate, then there's no chance."

However, when some DOES reveal themselves and questions her moderation to her face, she bans them. But it's totally because they call her out in the wrong place:

"Now, now, you know better than that. Challenging me here was not the right venue. If you genuinely had a problem and contacted me privately, this could have worked out fine. But you guys chose to gang up on me in public after ganging up on me in private. There's no saving that.

Go play in your own comm. I'm sure you'll have fun there.
"

And that's not even close to the wanking Tanz and co. is doing in that Fandomsecrets thread.

ETA: Thanks to mice at [info]wank_report for bringing this to my attention.

ETA 2: SF_Drama has reported on the wank too! Complete with more details, more wank and an awesome write up.

SPN Icon Wank

[info]sevendeadlyfun
So,[info]spacefragments has a Dean icon they wanna use. Well, according to this icon mouse, they don't love Sam enough to use that icon.

After all, you can only like ONE character on any show and [info]spacefragments is violating FANDOM LAW, by pretending otherwise.

Furthermore, the Icon Mouse is not only appalled by the hypocrisy of using an icon for a 'ship you may or may not support, they find it bratty and a bit offensive.

In defense, [info]vivalana offers to provide an Official Fandom Icon Operator's License. For a price.

There's also a whole secondary wank about mishaland and how offensive the comm is to wholesome, decent Wincest 'shippers and the epic love of J2.

Also I know the ponies hate me

[info]ari_o
snatched from [info]wank_report

"Someone" posts a secret (#114 now bahleeted--caps?) on [info]fandomsecrets and the image is stored on her easily identifiable photobucket account. She claims to be lonely and not have any friends and she wishes the Avatar characters were her RL friends. But she means local friends, not imaginary intarweb bitches her LJ friends.

Responses are mostly of the "Oh, snap!" variety except for the "What am I? Chopped liver?" one. It's really a very mild response though [info]yukinoomoni is outed by name.

She doesn't overreact at all: )

eta: F_W is not your therapist. If you can't lol at a wank maybe you need to go for a walk. I thought this was funny. lol sociopath.

Who's the spider now?

[info]caito
Cribbed from [info]wank_report   :

Heroes wank, claims Mousie #1, is not usually this bad. It all started with a fandom secret dissing Mylar, a popular slash ship. (It's secret #144.) (Thanks to Mousie #4 for that direct link.)
Not secret: I find this pairing viscerally repulsive.
Secret: last year I wrote a crappy little Mylar fic on a whim, as an experiment. I didn't deliberately go out of my way to make it horrible, but I put no effort at all into making it good, either. I just wrote down whatever first came to mind. Several times I had to stop myself from going back and revising what I had written to make it better.
The object was to see how much feedback a lousy, hastily-written Mylar fic would get, just by "virtue" of being Mylar. In the end, not only did it get more comments than most of my real fics, but someone actually nominated it at the heroes_slash awards.
If that isn't proof of what awful taste this fandom has, I don't know what is.
Some anons and users are up in arms, some sympathize, and someone calls the secret-poster out.

(These aren't all the responses, just the interesting ones, or so the mice say.)

This, supposedly, is the fic in question.

speccygeekgrrl reposted the secret on their livejournal, causing Mousie #2 to snicker over the butthurt (with Mousie #3 concurring).

Someone else got really butthurt, but speaking as someone outside of fandom, I find her entries really cryptic. A Heroes mousie tells me that tiptoe39's angst hearkens back to an epic Mylar v. Mattmo ship battle last season, when Mohinder was gay for Sylar in fanon but shacking up with Matt in canon. If anyone feels up to an archeological dig for that wank, I'll add the links to this report. BONUS, FROM [info]doomsday: tiptoe39's weepy voicepost of ultimate sorrow.

Naturally, it all ends, as all good wanks do, with a hearty circle jerk.

Disclaimer: I still barely know Heroes, so feel free to correct me or tell me if I've linked to a spoiler or something. Y'all know I only posted this because I love using this icon.

ETA
: The weepy voicepost is down, but a nonny mouse recorded it and dropped it off in a comment to my personal jf: http://tindeck.com/listen/ggzj.

"Ewwww, boobies are TEH EVOL!!"

[info]sarajayechan
More feminism wank on Fandom Secrets. Surprise surprise!

This time, the secret is about female fanservice. [info]monpetitpetaq claims that no matter how well-rounded and awesome the female characters in Bleach are, their awesomeness is negated by their large breasts because female fanservice harms real life women somehow. (Well, I can see the huge boobs being a problem for one's back...)

Anon tries to argue that both forms of sexism are equally bad, but [info]monpetitpetaq and [info]paperclipchains aint buying it.

Also apparently female fanservice is "icky" but male fanservice is ZOMG YUMMY!!!! And [info]panzer_knight adds to the "big boobs = sucky character" pile. Huh, maybe it's just me but I can't remember the episode or manga chapter where Rukia, Tatsuki and Soifon had huge knockers spilling out of their swimsuits. XD

Gay politicians is serious business. Just ask the media.

[info]seiberwing
Politics and shipping are two very wanky subjects. What happens when we combine them on [info]fandomsecrets?

For one, we get [info]childings complaining that people aren't taking their shipping seriously enough.

I doubt many people seriously fap to that when they say that they slash something. They're doing it for the lulz. Which is even more disturbing to me, because when did sexual fantasy become a joke for people, or just a way to express that you really really like someone or something? I think it's stupid and immature. If you slash something, it should be because the pairing really gets you off.

Then you have [info]paperclipchains, who is all over this post and I'm honestly not sure if they're trolling.

163. I know what you mean. I don't know, I feel like people - especially people who have accomplished great things in their life - should be respected enough to be elevated above your base desire for an orgasm.

And that's not all, folks! [info]paperclipchains continues their reign of terror by asking what's so great about Kingdom Hearts II, and then insulting everyone who doesn't agree!

Anon: So... is the only reason you asked in the first place so that you could tell people "no your opinion sucks, mine is more correct"?

[info]paperclipchains: No, I was genuinely curious. I was also pretty sure that the reasons would be ridiculous, so there's that."

Fortunately, Obama unites the parties. And by unite I mean gets paired with. And by parties I mean everybody.

OMG THINK OF THE IMAGINARY CHILDREN!!!!111!11

[info]digigirl132
So today's Fandom Secrets post had a secret about a show called Kodomo no Jikan. WHat is Kodomo no Jikan about? Honestly I have no idea, but going by the posts in the community it's some anime about an elementary school girl who tries to have sex with her teacher.

Oh, but wait! Kodomo no Jikan is actually deep and meaningful!

Fandom Secrets' response: bitch say WHAT!?

But people keep defending it, because it really is more than pedobait! Seriously! Also, there's lots of South Park comparisons, because the two series are so much alike! But some say it's not.

Either way, there's a lot of fail on both sides.

ataniell93 doesn't care, but F_W are still mean, nasty people!

[info]anarchicq
EDIT: In light of the more recent wank involving FH and Laura, the links to her site have been removed.

Secret post that started it all. Specifically Secret 130.

It's an attack! But, don't worry about taking it down - I'll just try to divert attention to Michela instead. Looks like someone's never forgiven FanHistory either, and lays all the blame on Michela even though it seems other moderators there were involved.

ataniell93: There's no reason for you to know about me - that's why I repeatedly posted in this topic while signed in

SO RIGHT.

Leave Britney ataniell93 alone!

Here we finally see the truth: F_W hates me because I'm better than them!

Fail. The main reason F_W dislikes me is that I used to be part of F_W because some of my friends liked it, and then I saw that what F_W does is wrong, and instead of slinking quietly off into the dark and trying to forget it, I denounced the community. Period. I will never be forgiven for that, but I don't care, because it's not like I'm forgiving F_W next week. I still think who some of my friends are is part of the issue, but the main issue is that you all resent me for eating the red pill and waking up to what we were doing.

I guess we're all still in the Matrix.

And a personal note: Can one really be a part of F_W? It's not like we're Anonymous or anything.

Fail mods are failing

[info]sepiamagpie
Dearest, beloved, Fandom Wank.

I know you were looking forward to great excitement today. Some of you said words to me that indicated you anticipated fiery 'judgement' upon those who remained fresh and dewey white, those you call n00bs.

Anyway, you got today instead.

Stop anticipating things, we'll just break your hearts.

Sincerely,

Sepia P. Magpie, Esq.

PS: Use this post to reflect on how you could be better people. Or just fuck around in the comments.

Trimming Down Toll Secrets at F_S

[info]criticalcricket
Fandomsecrets's mod Technophile makes an announcement about other communities trolling Fandomsecrets and posting fake secrets. It initially came with a link to the Capslock Supernatural Comm with a specific tag for Fandom secrets. The link has since been deleted but here's a screencap.

Called on their game, the capslock_spn-ers turn out en mouse to try and show how cool and easygoing they're taking this whole thing. They give anyone who calls them stupid or attempts to apologize on Supernatural Fandom's behalf a beat down and otherwise generally troll the comments.

Being embarrassed by your fandom makes you stuck up.
Calling the capslock_spn-ers dumb makes you dumb.
Witchling's apology on behalf of fandom earns her a smackdown.
And into the fray jumps Jameth....I dunno, your guess is as good as mine.

Technophile pops back up on the fifth page to comment on the continued presence of the trolls and gets grilled on the decision to moderate the secrets posted into his own community. Tianar expresses her rage with mighty capslocks. ashe_frost calls technophile out on his modding skills.

And in the midst of it all Capslock_spn turns off open membership to stave off the flood of potential new members and keep things manageable they say.

Rules? In MY crack RP? It's more likely than you think!

[info]elektra3
A dressing room, for those of you who aren't familiar with the term, is a type of single-fandom roleplaying game wherein different versions of the characters can interact. They're generally heavy on the crack, and have open membership.

Trouble strikes the Phoenix Wright dressing room when the mods put some limitations on the types of characters allowed in the RP - and one of the community's members, disagreeing with the decision, chooses to express their displeasure on fandomsecrets. Because emailing the mods is for sissies.

There are a few scattered comments agreeing with the OP, and then the mod in question shows up. Cue indignation, bitchery both passive-aggressive and otherwise, and butthurt galore.

Slash is hot, but homos suck! ... wait.

[info]solle
Someone posts glorious wankbait on fandomsecrets (#75, with the catchy color scheme). The text: "YAOI fangirl IRL homophobe. I am both and I don't think it's so bad. Is it a crime now to separate fandom from religion and reality?"

Some call troll. Most proceed to wank like their plane is going down.

Highlights... )

How NOT to Date a Celebrity

[info]criticalcricket
Secrets kept popping up on Fandom Secrets hinting at a person who was convinced that they were dating Zachary Quinto of Heroes fame. Most people didn't know what was going on until the other day, when [info]freetheelves2 pops out of the woodworks to tell us that she was getting bored. People asked for an explanation and things quickly devolved. I had posted to fandom lounge asking about the situation and as it devolved into wank [info]twentythree posted it to clairvoyantwank.

The next day, the entire thread of wank disappears. Too bad the internet never forgets (it's a zip file with saved webpages). Another thread is started to discuss the deletion. It's decided that they should take it to a private journal to save it from all these mysterious deletions (about three threads have been deleted at this point). [info]cazrolime creates a post to discuss the situation. The discussion of this thread on FS is later deleted.

This is where the fun stuff begins. It comes to light that [info]freetheelves2 is using her psychic mother to figure out who's been posting secrets about her and sending her 800+ f-list after them. And her point of contact with Zachary Quinto is her 12-year-old medium sister. That's right folks, apparently she's dating him on the astral plane! And he sends her letters and family heirloom earrings through spirits, through her medium sister...or something.

All is full of lulz until the cavalry arrives to defend their friend's honor and break Snacky's Law. They staunchly defend freetheelves' sanity, while slinging around the word moot (which apparently meand vagina down under). The defenders start taking a page from freetheelves' book and deleting their comments as they are attacked by mice enraged by their comparisons to current tragedies in the news and attempted guilt trips about the possibility of freetheelves hurting herself.

And if that wasn't a fun enough romp for you, the mice and [info]medoroa bring the funny with an amusing exchange of Sylar/Mohinder wedding photos.

Edited: [info]freetheelves2 addresses the issues and breaks Snacky's Law and she is already aware of our presence. Thanks a lot numbnuts mouse.

Edited again: Annoying sock is annoying revealed to be a freetheelves supporter. What a surprise.

A Note to the Mice (and anyone else asking)
We actually have rules here on Fandom Wank. Rule number 6 states Do not link to locked material. So no matter how much you want proof or lulz or whatever from FTE's super sekrit filter posts, you can't have them. Please stop being morons and asking for them. Certainly don't post them! The mods will take your mouse power away.

Hey look! A mouse wrote this wank a Theme Song!

Yet Another Edit: Some of the former super secret filter friends are doing a little Q&A Thread.

A Note to the Mice (and anyone else asking) Part 2
Snacky says "summarizing the flocked posts is pretty much a no-go here too. This is a JF-wide thing, not just a FW thing, and we'd really like not to piss off the JF admins and respect their wishes."

Let's review:
Don't link to locked posts.
Don't ask to be linked to locked posts.
Don't c&p locked posts.
Don't encourage the posting of locked posts.
Don't summarize locked posts.
Don't [verb of your choice] locked posts!

I do not think it means what you think it means.

[info]yukina_raven
My first wank here. B-Be nice? :(

Over at FandomSecrets on Livejournal, wank is no stranger. Occasionally a secret appears that pisses everyone off. In the most recent secret post secret number 37 is one such secret. Featuring such beloved Final Fantasy heroines like Yuna and Rinoa along with other favorites like Tear and Colette from the Tales of... fandom, the secret accuses them all of being yamato nadeshiko.

Except for the fact that none of the characters pictured actually fit the definition. Not even a little bit.

When the OP is called out on her misunderstanding of the word, she claims that "they're not all that type to a T, the fact remains that pretty much every love interest in every JRPG has a set of very similar traits that link back to that." While ignoring that the male hero has clichés he falls in, of course. (Bonus! Someone uses the word 'bugfuck'!)

People come to defend some of the characters. But the OP doesn't get it.

She continues to fail at term usage and Earth logic is attempted. And OP keeps ignoring that males can be clichés too.

Someone sort of agrees . Others accuse her of giving slash fans a bad name. There's also how the OP just completely failed at getting her point across.

But its hard to feel sorry for her when she's probably an attention whore and was hoping for such wank.

She eventually comes out of the woodwork entirely to keep failing. We also have miniwank about FF10 VS. FF10-2 and the use of fanservice.

And the best for last.

ETA: Oh noes! We were SPOTTED! Where she continues to think you need a reason to slash.

Maybe some secrets should stay secret.

[info]tiki
So, Fandom Secrets, kind of like Post Secret but for fandom etc. etc. Someone posts a secret asking the musical question "if you're not watching anime or reading fic or RPing what the hell are you doing?" Most replies in the comments are along the lines of "I KNOW! WHAT DO PEOPLE DO ANYWAY??", though a few are more accommodating in answering the secret's (possibly rhetorical) question.
Bokuno, however, begs to differ a bit more emphatically, kicking off a string of wanking highlighted by kinneas and rachelthedemon engaged in a battle TO THE DEATH!!! over who had it toughest or something. Also, drinking and drugs. (I'm paraphrasing a bit.) An anonymous commenter advises a reality check, more people interpret non-fandom life as meaning getting drunk (because there's no such thing as a fan with a drinking problem, I guess), and rachelthedemon continues to be defensive. And hostile! And angry! Ouch, it's gotta start chafing by this point.
At least one anonymous was kind enough to give us a helpful to-do list.
I wonder if this post will make it through?

Fandom Secrets wank!

[info]loquaciousquark
Note: In the interests of full disclosure and neutrality, much of this report is directly taken from [info]volitioned's wank report here as far as links and such with my thanks and apologies because she did a huge amount of the footwork. I have only edited it for impartiality and added some background of my own.

Let's get started.

For anyone who has not heard of [info]fandomsecrets, people anonymously submit images with secrets related to fandom on them (e.g., I think this pairing sucks, I can't stand this series but everyone thinks I love it, etc.). Since roleplaying is included under fandom, there's a fairly steady influx of roleplaying secrets: people falling in love with their RP partner, thinking someone in an RP sucks, or just RP wank in general. It makes for some lulz in the opinions of many and creates a fair amount of wank (for even more lulz) from people who think RP secrets belong in a different comm, but in the end most people get over it.

Secret posting seems to tend toward cycles, and lately, the majority of RP secrets seemed to be about a fanon-adored pairing from the series Death Note; people saying how much they loved the pairing, even more RP secrets about people playing as them, shitty fic authors for the pairing. You name it, someone wrote about it.

In the latest secret post, another secret about this pairing was made with an RPer wanting to be the Matt to someone's Mello ("I want to be the _____ to your ______" is a phrase commonly seen in the comm.) After only a few hours of the secret post being up, various threads were made (more, more, more, more, more, and one more) in complaint to there being too many pairing secrets for these two characters.

ZOMG STFU )

The anonymice battle the mods! )

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL, FOLKS! )

SO, TO SUM UP:
Anonymous secret with extremely common sentiment is posted at [info]fandomsecrets.
Several commenters object to the secret as overdone and the pairing as unrealistic.
Secret poster responds to comments, telling them to shut up and sit down. Mostly they ignore her.
When one thread gets super wanky, one of the mods deletes it and the secret at the request of the OP.
Mods laugh at wank.
Anonymous commenters object to deletion, wank, and laughing.
Anonymous calls for removal of [info]technophile as mod for being immature.
[info]volitioned posts a wank report in her LJ with a focus on [info]technophile's involvement in the wank.
[info]serenesanity shows up and takes a personal objection to the links that may or may not link to her comments. I'm not quite sure.
Arguments ensue. Volitioned says it's not about Serenesanity. Technophile continues to laugh.

And the wankas win!

EDIT FOR GREAT JUSTICE: [info]volitioned has deleted her journal! Color me shocked!

EDIT FOR SLIGHTLY LESSER JUSTICE: Undeleted!e
