Fail mods are failing

[info]sepiamagpie
Dearest, beloved, Fandom Wank.

I know you were looking forward to great excitement today. Some of you said words to me that indicated you anticipated fiery 'judgement' upon those who remained fresh and dewey white, those you call n00bs.

Anyway, you got today instead.

Stop anticipating things, we'll just break your hearts.

Sincerely,

Sepia P. Magpie, Esq.

PS: Use this post to reflect on how you could be better people. Or just fuck around in the comments.

[info]ueuecoyotl
A friend brought this very special American Girl wank to my attention, and thought it was worth sharing. The following is her write-up:

Did you ever have a favorite toy that someone told you just wasn't good enough if it wasn't a real 'insert brand name here' toy? Oneofthosehorriblemoms is on a *crusade* to let everyone know that American Girl Place in NYC allows its stylists (yes, stylists for doll hair...comedy gold in and of itself I'm sure) to inform poor, underpriveleged girls that their Target brand dollies aren't real and not worth loving.

She starts with a scathing, detailed rendition of her lovely daughter "Etta's" treatment at American Girl Place by both a stylist and several upperclass women waiting for their pampered darlings. Oneofthosehorriblemoms claims not to have been there, but her exact quotes and descriptions are awfully well remembered by a six year old.

Commenters flock to the support of the brave, kind hearted Etta and her selfless mother, offering to never buy another piece of American Girl merchandise and to dispose of the items their children already owned. Oneofthosehorriblemoms must have felt vindicated with the interwebz outpouring of support...until the dissenters arrived. 'Why hasn't American Girl corporate heard of this incident?", they inquired, but our stalwart OP refused to answer beyond deleting 'inappropriate' comments.

Hm...so real or well thought out pity plea on "teh internetz"? We'll give you a free dolly hairstyle for the answer!

Son (or Daughter) of the American Girl Wank

[info]the_clansmen
Remember the recent American Girl wank? The one where mods of one board banned members of another because they didn't like them? Well, it marches on, my friends! The mods, who have been conspicuously silent since the news broke out in the AG fandom have finally spoken to Nethilia ([info]kittikattie), a mod at [info]ag_over_18, and they employ the kind of doublespeak that would make a politician caught with his pants down proud.

The mods, they have spoken! )

Of course, Neth isn't going to take this lying down:

Here she is, calling crap for what it is! )

Most of the angry responses can be found on [info]ag_over_18's version of this post, but it's currently locked. I'm just linking to Neth's entry with her permission. And this isn't even counting the mods reappearing on the AG Playthings message board (again, locked to members) just to...pointedly ignore everyone's demands for answers.

American Girl Dolls = still serious business.

Because dolls are what brings in the wank

[info]antiform
American Girl dolls. Sounds completely harmless right? Yeah, well, they are a small yet drama-filled fandom indeed!

Apparently, AG Fans, a message board for the fandom, is full of mods that discriminate and need to be in control no matter what. These mods added a new rule recently.

Religious discussions and/or photos will be allowed, but limited to religious holidays and/or celebrations that have been presented on the AG website, in AG publications, and/or in AG products, as they are now or previously have been portrayed by AG.

Ahh, here comes the mad people~ A mod over at ag_over_18 on LiveJournal, I hear, was warned on AGFans for posting a series called "Otters teaches Paganism" that was nice and informative. They're widely considered on AGPlaythings to be some of the best albums done, but it's just not appropriate according to the mods at AGFans. Not only that, but the AGFans mods are banning people for being a part of the LiveJournal community. Obviously, the can't stand not having control over everything and everyone everywhere. The mod at ag_over_18 is not happy about this.

It's not just her that's bothered by this...

People are not happy. )

Here is the link for anyone who happens to be a member Please don't go signing up just to see it, though. Every single comment to the post agreed with the original poster on both of the posts I mentioned.

There's more to it somewhere, I'm sure, but I don't know every detail.

EDIT:

a friend: Oh, here's more.
a friend: You can't see any posts--INCLUDING the rules--until you join.
a friend: But you have to agree to the rules to join.
a friend: So you have to agree to the rules before you're allowed to read them in order to read them.

EDIT(aka copypasta ftw):

I think it's important to include that someone from that board *must* have joined the LJ com to get a lot of the info, and that users *and* IP's are banned [from AGFan].
And, maybe that one ag18 thinks they might have too widely banned IPs to include the AG headquartters, but we haven't confirmed that yet. Still funny though.

The Aryan Dollhood

[info]kittikattie
On AG playthings--yes, there's TWO BOARDS about American Girl Dolls,-- only1genevieve posts how she hopes the newest rumored Historical doll isn't a blond. Other people chime in to say the same thing and talk about Jewish dolls and heritage.

Then CoG (which stands for Child of God) speaks up to say "Why does everyone complain about blondes?" Now, this wouldn't be a big deal, but when others disagree she goes on about how it's unfair that people make her feel bad for being white and having no heritage. missnellieomalley steps in: "Lets all just come to a compromise and go with the natural blond doll with a mohawk and dyed green tips... Then you get your precious blond doll and we get diversity. Everybody wins. So Merry Christmas." Later, she replies with "Aryan doll" and CoG says the line of the week:

"I did not say I wanted another aryan doll, either. Just that they are unappreciated. And that some people don't get that there's nothing wrong with Aryan dolls."

And it goes on for a bit before the discussion turns to Scandinavia.

Small wank is still wank.
