Ohh noes!

[info]lessis
Toshirodragon has been banned from the bjd forum Den of Angels for "exessive rudeness"

What triggered the ban was comment since lost(unless I can find caps) the gist of which treated anyone who buys decent clothing for their expensive dolls who freaked out if people breathed on the dolls as snobs and elitist. Full of hyperbole and exaggeration.

People objected to the labels

April: Hmmm... no one likes to be labeled! I'm older and I like to buy fancy outfits. I don't have a fit about people touching or holding my dolls at all--unless they're all grabby-hands and clumsy or messy!

I have made clothes for my dolls before--but I'm not great at sewing and I don't have a sewing machine--so that limits things. Besides--it always ends up WAY more expensive when I try and make stuff myself--buying all the supplies and materials. Seriously! I've ended up spending way more than if I'd just gone out and bought or commissioned stuff on the few times I've tried doing it all myself. (It's dangerous going into Michael's and JoAnn's... !)

I don't mind hanging about with people of whatever age, anyway. I'm used to hanging with young and old!

Totally agree, April. Generalizations make me

Right now, my boys are dressed in a variety of outfits ranging from expensive through to casual stuff which cost a fraction of the price of the fancier outfits.

I would love to make some outfits, but it would be a huge learning curve for me since sewing was about my worst subject in school

Then there's also the fact that, although I have a sewing machine, materials and the desire, what I sorely lack is time. There's my full-time job, a house to keep organised and clean and there's also the fact that dolls are not my only hobby, so time is at a premium for me. Even when I take my holidays and promise myself that this time I will fit in some sewing, it never happens that way I do live in hope, though.</i>

Toshirodragon's response was to edit her original comment to say. I apologize to everyone I have offended. I will go out and sell my dolls now, cut my wrists, shave my head and join a nunnery.

NOW will you be satisfied....

Oh and I unsubscribed from this thread so all you histrionics were unnecessary. And thanks for the tattling, adults REALLY do do that better than children.

and added a new post
Oh whatever people... my god I made an off hand comment designed to put one person's fears of being the oldest in the crowd to rest and a few people act like I blew snot on your favorite outfits.

Buy frickin Dollheart I DONT CARE! But I will say that of the collectors I've come in contact with the ones who DONT buy Dollheart have been the funnest to hang with.

Now I'm going to bed.

The banhammer fell shortly after that.

Toshirodragon then took it to LJ on her doll community Red_shoelacers

Ohh noes! Full of her own perceived superiority and persecution complex, referencing other fights she's had with people in the past. Snacky's law violation. And plans to get around the ban link

Fail mods are failing

[info]sepiamagpie
Dearest, beloved, Fandom Wank.

I know you were looking forward to great excitement today. Some of you said words to me that indicated you anticipated fiery 'judgement' upon those who remained fresh and dewey white, those you call n00bs.

Anyway, you got today instead.

Stop anticipating things, we'll just break your hearts.

Sincerely,

Sepia P. Magpie, Esq.

PS: Use this post to reflect on how you could be better people. Or just fuck around in the comments.

“You know, these people are a fine one to talk about ugly faceups!”

Meet Kim. Kim keeps a blog at http://kimsdolls.blogdrive.com/ Kim is a fan of various Asian dolls, including the Barbie-size Dollfies, and larger ball-jointed dolls. According to her blog, Kim is a fandom_wank watcher and member of the ball-jointed doll BBS, Den of Angels, and its rebellious evil twin, Den of Demons.

Kim finds snark entertaining…as long as it’s not directed at her.

The link is to my photostory on the Den of Angels. I was surprised to see it since I haven't even made a peep about it on the Den of Demons. (I figured that people would discover it on their own since many people are members of both forums like myself.) I'll admit that it's not high art or anything like that but my photostory is pretty mild and tame compared to other photostories that use photos that are too dark, too light, too blurry, the person used 20 photos to convey a situation when only five photos would've sufficed, or included a storyline that just screamed "LOOK AT ME!!!".
You'd think that the fact that I rarely even post photostories (I haven't posted any photostories prior to 2006, the latest one was my first one since July, it's the fourth photostory I've posted online this year, and it'll probably be the last photostory I do for the rest of the year) would spare me from being made an example of in that thread. The big irony is that later in the thread the person gets attacked for even asking for advice when General Discussions is supposed to be reserved for things like questions about doll-related issues, the latest doll news, and other things like that. Snarky comments used to be discouraged in that part of the forum but it looks like that has changed since the backup forum started to become active.

I'm not saying that all of the Den of Angels moderators and Den of Demons members are a bunch of immature irrational people.

But she has her revenge, oh yes she does. With satire. Long, tl;dr satire. http://kimsdolls.blogdrive.com/archive/356.html
This special December 26th photostory, which is designed to bring new meaning to the name "Boxing Day", is dedicated to certain members of the Den of Demons forum who seem intent on picking fights with me because they are so addicted to wank that they have to provoke fighs with anyone in order to feed the wank monkeys on their backs

It’s a good thing she’s not involved in one of those wanky doll fandoms, like American Girls!

I was perusing Fandom Wank when I found this charming entry about the latest skirmishes in the American Girl doll fandom. This reminds me of all the Den of Angels/Den of Demons forum battles over the last several months. (LOL!)
I do have to give all of the Den of Angels moderators credit for one thing. They have never done a mass banning of all Den of Angels members simply for joining and posting on the Den of Demons.
I'm so glad that I never became a fan of the American Girl dolls (although I did visit the huge store on Fifth Avenue in New York City once).

Over at the ball-jointed doll forum Den of Angels, user haha has a question:
Do dolls really have to marry dolls (if they want to get married)?"

haha wants to know:
i am just curious. if i get an engagement ring for my boy and myself, is it weird/crazy/mad to you? i treat my dolls not as my "kids", but as my "boyfriends". does anyone else do the same thing?

can dolls be married to their owners instead of another (or other) dolls?

Responses, naturally, vary; they range from "I'd say, marry who you like- that's for you AND your dolls...." to "if you are substituting dolls to fill normal family roles then it's time to get help." It is generally unclear whether the OP is serious or kidding.

Of course we could not have this discussion without accusations of closed-mindedness: juumou announces that "It sounds like there are some less-opened minded people here."

As if that weren't enough, we also have omichao and possibly Guide declaring their asexuality, and the requisite ad-hominem attack by Chachamaru: ""unique situation" Since when being a teenage girl pretending to be a man considered a "unique situation", just another reason to call a shrink in my opinion."

Really, the entire thread is lots of fun. It has everything, including mods stepping in and telling people to behave, and someone bitching about spelling! And if we assume everyone is going to ignore the modly pleas for civility (which is a safe bet on most message boards, really), this baby's just getting started.
