Little history, in short: owner of AFF went AWOL. Four head mods take over. Owner returns, after six months of incommunicado, and takes back the archive. Four head mods quit. Owner Jaxxy complains site has been 'hijacked' by them. Surprisingly, all stays quiet (relative non-wankiness apparently helped by owner's delete button and friendslocks on LJ).

You may remember this from a fandom_lounge post.
You will be seeing some angry posts and claims from perhaps many people in the near future -- even rumors that AdultFanFiction.net is moving or being mass-abandoned by Members! I know this because a few attacks have already been deleted from this very site (even the News Post area, here).

Rest assured that I and your remaining faithful Staff am going to do everything to ensure the site's health that we always have. Please do not let the current rash of mayhem ruin your visits to AdultFanFiction.net, or fear for its future. After all, we've re-secured all this for the (presently) 64,528 Authors and Members of this site -- not ourselves. As ugly as this job is on this day, I personally cannot let the softness of my heart subject AdultFanFiction.net's members to potentially illegal actions by its Staff.

So first, pornish_pixies is mysteriously suspended. No explanation, at least so far. And so is sbrb_blackcest, shota, wonkaslash, lol_porn, and afamilyaffair, as well as some of Ataniell's RP journals. Other comms (dailydeviant, hp_incest) seem to have self-deleted in an attempt to ride out the wave. Starting to notice a pattern?

liz_marcs thinks she's found the culprit; Warriors for Innocence has recently turned their vigilante anti-child-porn eye onto LJ, and they don't like what they see. She's written an email to them, and promises to tell us all about their reply a bit later. (Note: people are reporting SPYWARE on the WfI website, so be careful.)

It's plenty wanky already, with people mostly locking down their content and/or shaking their fists, but I don't see any way that this will not balloon into a screaming match that makes Fanlib look like a tea party once people start getting home from work and liz_marcs posts WfI's response.

The response to liz-marc's email: WfI says they didn't report any fandom comms, and weren't even aware of fandom at all. Are they in CYA mode, or is our princess really in another castle?

You know it's big when Aja and Heidi are talking to each other again. (Or they made up yoinks ago and this is non-news, but why ruin the moment with facts?)

By modly suggestion, some options for reducing server robustness:
1) Cool it on the macros
2) Turn off images in your browser. Images can be turned off in Firefox via Tools -> Options -> Content and then either switch off "load images automatically" or block JF via the exceptions. In IE, it's Tools -> Options _> Advanced -> Multimedia -> Show Images.

WfI has made at least two new posts since all this went down, sticking their foot further into their mouth each time. (Note: people are reporting SPYWARE on the WfI website, so be careful.)

People scream at LJ on a news post, from page 6 to... maxing out at page 100, with 5000 comments. And they've now moved to the next older post, which has gone from 17 pages to 40. Oh dear.

LJ finally speaks! ... to the press.

And while we're waiting for LJ's official statement to us... apparently WfI really *is* run by racist homphobic anti-immigration far-far-right-wing Christian dominionists. This is TV-movie perfect, y'all; all it needs is Kevin Bacon teaching us how to dance.

And new news post: a bunch of stuff has been or will be unsuspended, to boil it down.

Once upon a time, there was a film producer, an internet whiz and a CEO.
Together they invested three million and created Fanlib, a multi-fandom archive for fanfiction. The plan was to make money of these fics and somehow "build a bridge between fandom and corporations" or something like that.

They started by spamming inviting a select few authors. Most invited authors either ignore the entire thing (probably because the invitation mail sounds like an offer for a seedy credit card) or got upset.

Then fandom, at least the Lj part, kinda explodes as the fanfic authors gather to blog about how and why they dislike Fanlib.

But oh! This hurts the feelings of the Fanlib CEO. And the real wanking starts...

I'm Chris one of the founders of FanLib> it's really late and i have been working on the site all day. I'm exhausted but i just realized what was going on here and all of the commentsts are making me sick.

curefreak asks the Blog_Sociology comm the not wanky at all question "why slash and other porn writings (I'm not familiar with the terms) are considered acceptable, or, at the very least, overlooked in the main".

However, it turns out that s/he is merely clueless of what these words mean, as their *real* point is about underage fic: I'm aware there may be an argument that these characters are fictional. However, were someone to set up a community on here, writing porn about an imaginary 14 year old boy or girl, I'd imagine there would be an outcry

The comments, predictably, are full of wank. They're also really full of stupid.

All fanfic writers are children, women, writing "girly porn", immoral, and should be bludgeoned to death. Got it.

(I think this one is wanky enough to pass Clairvoyant and go right to the mothership, especially now that metafandom has picked it up.)

I got bored a little while ago, and started plugging random things into the livejournal interests search. Being a masochist, one of the first things I tried was "Anti-RPS"

Via this search, I found Anti_Fandomrape, a community basically dedicated to being against everything-we-don't-like. All the major flamewars are sitting here, just WAITING...slash, RPS, chan/lolita...

And, of course, Rapefic.

The level of insanity to which Calimante (who I really, REALLY wish I could believe was JUST a crazy troll, rather than a crazy troll with "extras") takes it to is just...unique.

Needless to say, even people who are anti-rapefic find all this a little bit creepy. And we get probably the wordiest fuckin' wank I've seen in a LONG time. Massive blocks of text, each creepier than the last. Also, Calimante is one of those people who's FAR too fond of using big pictures in posts.

Go have a look. It just keeps getting "better", and I don't even want to guess the number of jurisimprudence laws that are broken in here, or how many can be inspired by it.

And be sure to keep an eye on anti_fandomrape. Methinks that, if it's not fully dead, it'll keep providing us with joy.
