Not too long ago, razorknives caused a stir in Hellsing LJ community when he went off about why Hellsing wasn't more popular. Well, he's back again.

He's made two wank-free posts in regards to the character and props scans for Hellsing OVA's 3 and 4 between then and now. Then in the third post, he asks for help covering the cost of these sheets, and leaves his PayPal address for easy donations. (It should be noted that he did not require a donation to be made to view the images.)

The Hellsing Admin, lost_innocenc3, makes a post in response, politely asking that members refrain from asking for donations on the community, and only do it in their private journal.

razorknives is not happy about this, and makes a post:

Thats right, someone who openly admits they rarely even posts in this community is throwing their itty bitty misplaced authority weight around because of their feelings. So if your pissed about being screwed out of over a hundred pages of rare hellsing goodness. You know who to talk to."

Sadly, said post has been deleted. However, I can summarize.

razorknives is more upset with being told what to do than anything else. Nevermind that the admin gave him another way to ask for donations. He asks if people really expect him to share his expensive content without getting anything in return. The answer to that is... yes. If you post it, that means you're sharing it with everyone else right?

(Obviously this guy's never been to communities like scans_daily or yaoi_daily before.)

A mocking post is made by mr_mitts. razorknives is not amused.

Also, in a very small bonus wank, xxherlullabyxx believes this display of mocking a community member is immature and sickening. Various members comment on how this is not unusual, and that she's obviously a n00b.

Bringing up certain topics is a no-no if you want to avoid wank. sailorptah makes the following initial post in the Hellsing com on eljay:

"There's an interesting series of posts which metafandom has been following, about the term "BNF." It stands for Big Name Fan, and was originally a complimentary term (for the fans who are especially well known in a given fandom), but to some it has changed into a derogatory term (for the fans who are so indiscriminately loved that they can start writing complete trash and their praises will still be sung).

I say this because I'd never heard the term used in Hellsing fandom (or any anime fandom, come to think of it; metafandom mostly focuses on Western fandoms, like Harry Potter, Firefly, Star Wars, etcetera), but it brings up an interesting question.

Who are the BNFs in Hellsing fandom? I mean BNF in the complimentary sense, as in: which people are, within the fandom, famous?

Sounds to me like someone is trying to get proclaimed a BNF for their efforts in the fandom. The responses to this post are varied. Some proclaim the poster a BNF, some other members of the com. Some call the poster out on her supposedly innocent intentions.

sailorptah later edited the post to add (likely due to certain comments that she received):

By the way, this is not the Official List of The Only People Who Matter In The Hellsing Fandom; this is not meant to allude to usage of the term BNF in the crazy, crazy HP fandom; and this is not being forwarded to government agents for use as evidence against you in the upcoming secret trials. Certainly not. Please put all such thoughts out of your minds ^_^"

Isn't it the mark of a BNF to proclaim ignorance at knowing what a BNF is?

ETA: Fandom Wank gets a baleeted shout out, and not surprisingly, sailorptah's post was subsequently edited yet again to add:

I'm not doing this because I'm hard up for a compliment; I'm doing it out of a genuine curiosity about the topic. Anyone who is in Hellsing fandom has the pleasure to make acquaintance with the special individual that is glassdarkly. She has offered gems in the past like an hysterical rant about the dreaded possibility of IntegralxSeras, a hissy fit saying she would leave the community, evidence that YumikoxAnderson is teh canon, and a nazi icon flame war in one of her threads (just to say there’s not only pairing flamewars in Hellsing!). Pity all these were deleted.

Now she’s back with evidence that Hellsing is SO shoujo. But using Incognito as the so-called fan service for girls may not be her most brilliant move.

Enjoy the show! I mustered my self control to not wank! And I crave for gory Hellsing icon claiming that my fandom is shoujo.
