Will all of you shut it?!

[info]azli
Popular Pirates of the Carribean fic comm Pirategasm is being overrun by a shipwar, and the mod has had enough.

The Captain is angry and completely disgusted.

I am well aware that the subterranean SparraShip war has erupted into full-fledged battle. I will NOT have it here. Don't try my patience over this, folks. I already have no time to read anything posted here because I'm too busy checking the comments to make sure you cuttlefish aren't cannibalising each other.

[info]fried_flamingo asks if [info]hippediva's explosion is in reference to anything in particular. This does not go well.

[info]soleilpirate questions why the post was necessary, since the wank seems to have happened off-comm

[info]mary684 points out that most people have no idea what the mod is talking about.

[info]madam_pudifut threatens to flounce to which the mod replies "GTFO".

All of this results in a second modly decree from on high: "I am, at this point, undecided about whether or not to continue this community at all."

What? No! What a shocking outcome. Ack! Don't shut down Piratagasm! DON'T LET THE TERRORISTS WIN!111!!234".

ETA: Whoa, the mod is actually behaving sensibly and taking a break? No way! no pirate speech today, this is too serious to make light of it.

Fail mods are failing

[info]sepiamagpie
Dearest, beloved, Fandom Wank.

I know you were looking forward to great excitement today. Some of you said words to me that indicated you anticipated fiery 'judgement' upon those who remained fresh and dewey white, those you call n00bs.

Anyway, you got today instead.

Stop anticipating things, we'll just break your hearts.

Sincerely,

Sepia P. Magpie, Esq.

PS: Use this post to reflect on how you could be better people. Or just fuck around in the comments.

Wanksters of the Caribbean!

[info]sweeneytodd
So over at [info]fandomsecrets on eljay, a secret is posted about Elizabeth Swann not being a Sue. All is well and nice, but [info]pankster begs to differ. Multiple people explain why Elizabeth's not a Sue, but [info]pankster just won't believe it and repeats the same old shit over and over again. [info]abfluvver briefly decides to throw the towel in until [info]pankster calls everyone's opinion retarded. But my personal favorite bit is when people sarcastically fight over whether the dog or the monkey is the biggest sue. I've got to go with the monkey guys. Come on, he even stole Jack's name! That's major sue points right there.

Pirates of the Caribbean Wank

[info]bunny
[info]angua9, author of several TL;DR 'essays' on why Ron/Hermione R ment 2 B, wonders why POTC II grossed so much money.

The Jack/Elizabeth shippers credit the "chemistry" of the scenes with Jack and Elizabeth for Dead Man's Chest grossing much higher than Curse of the Black Pearl, and I think they have a point. To a certain extent, PotC 2 has benefited from the legendary "Titanic effect," where obsessed romantics go to see the movie again and again to get their erotic buzz.

So far so sane. But [info]angua9 continues:

Why the J/E Shippers Scare Me
But back to the J/E shippers: I sense a situation building that may be second only to Harry Potter Book Six in the category of tumultuous shipper explosions. The J/E shippers may not be that big a percentage of the viewing audience (25% if this imdb poll can be considered representative), but some of them are hardcore.

The combination of deep emotional attachment to a pairing and well-founded anxiety over whether that pairing will actually prevail has had its usual effect. The fanatic Jack/Elizabeth shippers are, to put it bluntly, insane.

But I am not judging, not really... )
