Queer as Folk fandom is alive and strong (when there's wank involved).

[info]knowsall

As with most television fandoms, once a show is over and finished, there are people from fandom who move on. It's much like having a gift that you love for several years but you have to return it after that set period of years. You return all the Good Fic, all the fun show discussions and conversations, and wonderful graphics. After the show, several years after the show, fandom becomes extremely watered down into Bad Fic, discussions that are repetitive, and more bad graphics than good graphics.

People take offense to this analysis. Here's where the wank comes in.

Wank 1 - March 6, 2011 )

You'd think that it'd end there but it didn't. People were fighting and arguing and would continue to do so until this, the last comment in the shot. That's a mod and up until now, everything's been about badfic. Then, shit got personal:

Personal wank that got comments deleted. )

That was really the calm before the storm.

Wank 2 - March 15, 2011 )

She wants the mods to take down her post so that she can alter history and pretend that none of it happened. Um, sorry. Wank doesn't work that way. It gets saved and posted on [info]fandom_wank.

Summary: badfic is badfic and not art, [info]petulant2u is the crusader for all badfic everywhere (including her own), mods at [info]getithere will ban you if you troll the place, people who are butt hurt will publicly cry in their journals to their friends list who will always defend their idiocy, and Queer as Folk continues to be a fandom that has to hunt for any kind of quality fic. Tragic but true. Kudos to the mods for leaving the wank up!

Edit: Screenshots to her Twitter and locked posts to come!

[Picture removed. Irrelevant to wank.]

99 problems (but selling fic ain't one)

[info]twinno
If you're havin' money problems I feel bad for you son
I got ninety-nine problems but selling fic ain't one

[info]ryosato out on fic patrol, she out on flist patrol
The problem here is her funds are getting low
She's got bills stacking up that gonna have to go
She asks for commissions to get some cash flow
But [info]lady_jane shows up and says "Oh no"
When selling fic, son, what kinds of profits are those?
[info]lady_jane says illegal like her analogy shows
[info]ryosato sees that post, and her temper blows
She comes right out and calls [info]lady_jane "old"
"Over 60" even - now hot damn that's cold!
"If you're fucking ten years older... TWICE AS OLD OR MORE..."
Then apparently "YOU CAN'T PICK ON [me] ANYMORE"
So I don't know what you take this as
Or understand the problems that [info]ryosato has

I'm from rags to riches, wankas, I ain't dumb
I got ninety-nine problems but selling fic ain't one
Hit me

ETA: I capped [info]ryosato's post while writing this up, so I missed the troll but I got the original posts.
Cap 1
Cap 2

ETA 2: Courtesy of [info]rodo, we now have So I pretty much win at the internets.

Fail mods are failing

[info]sepiamagpie
Dearest, beloved, Fandom Wank.

I know you were looking forward to great excitement today. Some of you said words to me that indicated you anticipated fiery 'judgement' upon those who remained fresh and dewey white, those you call n00bs.

Anyway, you got today instead.

Stop anticipating things, we'll just break your hearts.

Sincerely,

Sepia P. Magpie, Esq.

PS: Use this post to reflect on how you could be better people. Or just fuck around in the comments.

We're BETRAYED!! - Another QAF Wank

[info]dkellergrl

Anonomous posting on wank_report about the latest kurfuffle within the B/J faction of the QAF fandom. Almost a year after the series has ended, fans are still wanking about the ending.

It all begins with the posting of a question and answer period with Shawn Postoff at the Queer as Fans convention:

Gaedhal gets permission to post the recap from the main HOR Sweetmadamblue.
The fans of course, are still outraged at the ending and begin the Cowen/Lipman bashing.

But wait, could it be that one of the reasons some people loved the show so much is that they *actually had some talent??*:

Of course not! And arrogant CL apologists are not welcome here! BTW, the *secret* group told us who you are!!

The wank continues until Hephaestion moves it to a new level. What do any of you know, you're just straight women!

An Angel Gets Her Wings - Another QAF B/J FanFic Wank

[info]dkellergrl

It was only a few days ago when [info]spicytacokisses  posted the latest QAF B/J fandom wank on the 2005 QaF Bad!Fic Awards.  Now, it seems like the shit has hit the fan again.  As one of the "bitter people", I love it.

This fandom cracks me up. It just wanks itself. It's imploded again at [info]_bestoftheworst on the topic of: The Best Of The Worst in QaF fanfic. Check it out:

http://www.livejournal.com/community/_bestoftheworst/26901.html

It started with a really funny tongue-in-cheek review by [info]tamalinn of a fanfic written by [info]gaedhal, who then linked the post to her journal and came by to defend her writing. Her minions followed and hilarity ensued in an eruption of fanwanking. Apparently, this was also perceived by some especially paranoid members as payback for the Bad Fanfic Awards held by [info]jane2005.

The resulting pile-on and accompanying histrionics finally lead the original poster, [info]tamalinn to wisely conclude "i might have to lay low for awhile".

There are nowt so fucking retarded as Queer as Folk's fanbase.

[info]spicytacokisses
Queer as Folk is a once small and humble fandom that grew exponentially, and at a particularly alarming rate once the show really started sucking like [insert gay sex joke here]. But! It has endured 5264256262 shipper wars between B/Jers and B/Mers, has outlived actor wank, and even survived treacherous meet-and-greet sessions at conventions, as well as fans taking their title one step further into Creepsville by performing voodoo rituals for fictional characters. It's obvious that nothing keeps a good QaF-er down, even the anticlimatic end of the series; like tiny pieces of poo clinging to the hairs of somebody's asshole, this fandom shall overcome any adversity!

In our latest installment, [info]stillife and [info]jane2005 team-up to bring us the 2005 QaF Bad!Fic Awards (continued here). Some people are flattered; others, like BJFic's own Ashleigh Kinners, wanks, treating her fans to a lengthy diatribe from the, ahem, "privacy" of her own website. "The beauty of having your own site is that you know who is logging on to you," she says. Okay!

I’m sure at no point did I see anywhere that it was mandatory for fan fiction to have a compulsory level of literary quality. I was always under the impression that people in a free society were able to write or read whatever they liked. If for some reason you didn’t like something, you didn’t read it and moved on to something you did like.

Now, twelve months later, I find the concept of people reading something purely to ridicule it, is still foreign to me and I thank my upbringing for that. Trying to hide petty behavior under the guise of critiquing a piece of fan fiction is delusional. Offers of help to improve a fan fiction writer’s stories are just the cover they use to perpetuate their delusion of setting themselves up as the social conscience of the fandom and are absurd.

It seems that these delusional souls fall into two categories. The first are the nasty, mean spirited ones that can be likened to schoolyard bullies, campaigning that their opinions are the only ones that matter and if someone chooses to disregard their opinion it is acceptable to incite others to perpetuate their poor behavior. The second are the sheep that follow them. Obviously people who influence others, inciting them to socially unacceptable behavior i.e. pettiness and spitefulness, were just raised poorly. I know as responsible parents, we try to teach our children the value of the old saying “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.

The parents of Jane 2005 must be so proud they’ve raised such a nasty example of, I use the term loosely, human being, who boasts quite happily that she is a bitch who gets enjoyment out of putting others down. I am grateful and thank God she has been kind enough to NOT intend to reproduce and pass on her values and standards to another generation. More people like that, we don’t need, the world is fucked up enough. I wonder if someone like that could possibly have any friends of any redeeming quality other than her anonymous friends on the net. I suppose because she is well educated, she can even hide the truth from herself, pretending that qualification automatically makes her better than everyone else. Most educated people however realize that putting others down to make yourself look good only makes you look smaller. So please Jane, continue or have one or all of your sheep do it for you, you will still be sad, petty, spiteful, nasty and small, regardless. Only you could still manage to be proud of that label.

And the wank goes on, with colorful cameo appearances in the comments by 1daftpunk, who suggests candidly that Ms. Kinners buys herself "a copy of the Joy of Gay Sex and read it. I suggest this simply because it's really clear to me, that you have no understanding of the physical impossibility (at least for the survival of the participants and any small animals) of the acts you are attempting to describe." Also included in the mix is Sara Rory, AKA "Forever Folked", who is just too precious for words. But hey, here they are anyway:

I love your stories and me being fairly experienced in a kinds of sex I just would like to point out the specifics of sucking cock well fucking someone up the ass, since for some reason people can not imagine it I thought I'd paint a picture. Because as a girl who has fucked a man with a strap on, I know it's possible. So if anyone would like to know, let me know and I would gladly tell you every little detail of how this is achieved.

*

And the little comments sent to me about "How can you be a lesbian if you write about gay sex?" Well little girls, if you were pretty enough, I'd fly to your little happy hetero homes and show you.

Somebody calling themselves "Golddiger" seems to have the most sound advice of all: "would you guys just stop bitching and read the stories you like and the ones you don't like well... don't read them." It won't ever happen (and really, why would we want it to?) but it's nice of him/her/it to put it out there.

QAF Fandom: All Wanky, All the Time!

[info]queerasfolkfan
In which we learn that the QAF fandom ships and has fetishes for venereal diseases.

Gentle readers, there is too much to bring all of it for your self-pleasuring amusement, so please content yourself with this, my humble offering of wank.

Warning, spoilers for QAF Season 5 featured heavily in this wank. If you're one of the few, the proud, the believers, who still cares what happens, and doesn't already know, stay away from the links.

Some QAF fans who live in Toronto, the Toronto Crew, decided to hold "Stalkerfest 2005". This means, "decided to follow the cast and crew around at all hours as they filmed season five." [info]bigboobedcanuck, one of the Toronto crew, reported their findings in a comprehensive spoilerific post. The Toronto Crew, turns out, had accidentally called one major spoiler too soon, causing some fans to believe that things would unfold differently.

[info]rhiandra, brings us spoiletiquette, the rules that you must follow if you want to share your spoilers. This means, "TELL ME EVERYTHING THE MOMENT YOU KNOW IT!!! YOU OWE IT TO ME!!!" The Minions Pounce, there and elsewhere. There's even a reminder that the Toronto Crew isn't the Associated Press (in case anyone was confused) and doesn't OWE THE FANDOM ANYTHING.

The real goodness lies ahead! Cut for small S5 spoiler.

Your wank is right this way! )

QAF(US) fandom brings the wank. Again.

[info]queerasfolkfan
Word to the wise: do not let Brian/Justin shippers and Brian/Michael shippers in the same room together - or in the same community.

fishbutt, a B/M shipper, makes a post in queerasfolkfans, announcing that she is "confused" and "doesn't understand the obsession with B/J".

You've got wank.

fishbutt provides us "the facts" of the B/J relationship, and informs us of what those bratty B/Jers have been up to: "The things that happened at the con were disgusting and I can't believe there are so many people that would take the show so seriously as to try to dominate a convention with their shipperdom."

What disgusting things exactly happened at the Queer as Fans con? In the comments, we're given some pretty damn good wanky stuff: allegedly, B/Jers attending the con booed anything shown of Michael's or of the actor who plays him, Hal Sparks, didn't show B/M vids until specifically requested because they were too busy showing B/J fan vids, treated Hal badly, B/M fans being booed or forced to buy Brian and Justin bears together, and forced all volunteers to wear apparently B/J centric t-shirts. A B/Jer who did attend the convention says the Hal stuff's not true. Wanking continues.

I'm too busy being shocked that grown adults are angry about which combinations stuffed animals were sold in at a TV convention to even take in the rest of this wank.

After the convention wank is your standard issue B/M vs. B/J wank, but not bad.

ETA Locked. That was fast. Trying to get a saved version of the page now. Stay tuned.

TALE OF THE B/J MOJO

[info]deeablo
Ah, those daffy Brian/Justin Queer as Folk fans. (I tried to find more F_W QAF links, but this was the only one I stumbled upon.)

The U.S. version of the gay soap opera has several, how shall we say, ah yes, dedicated fen. Their OTP--played by actors Gale Harold and Randy Harrison--has gone through many up and downs (literally and metaphorically - heh), but most B/J 'shippers firmly believe that Brian and Justin will find troo wuv 4evah at the end of the series. Which is fine, of course.

What is NOT fine is using African gris-gris magic and mojo "to ensure a happy future together for Brian and Justin!" Witness:
You know it's an addiction when it starts interfering with your work, right? )
Note: I am not against gris-gris, mojo, or any sort of religious practice. Or 'shipping fictional characters. But... yikes.

The topic of Gale Harold and Randy Harrison from the Showtime gay soap opera, Queer as Folk being "not so secret lovers" as been THE TOPIC of discussion/belief/ridicule/hype over on The Data Lounge, a gay gossip website for about 9 months now.
