As a normal person*, I have no powers against this blatant disenfranchisement and marginalization except that of my limited wallet, and I will say this. From this day forward I will not pay for an official piece of Sailor Moon material released from this date forward. I am boycotting Sailor Moon for the actions of Naoko Takeuchi — make no mistake Viz and Toei Animation are culpable as well, but in their defense, they are transparent in that they make the real culprit clear — the woman who authored the manga that inspired the anime and now has taken over the inspired creation.

She understands it's going to be a hard path, but she will face that path. And she's doing it because god help you if you call Sailor Moon Usagi.

I know my action alone is meaningless, but I encourage others to not pay and not give anything official any more time. It’s not enough to complain. We have to take the power away from them that we gave them to redress this wrong.

Sailor Moon CX will no longer update. As much as I would love to finish the story in a “Take That” no one reads it and no one cares, so I am abandoning it. I won’t burden people with my presence much longer.

To conclude, Viz is a monster, Naoko Takeuchi is a monster, and she's not posting her fanfic anymore.

Background: firemikokagome is a devout and entitled Sailor Moon Sapphire & Demando ship fan. According to people in the fandom, Sapphire and Demando are brothers, and it's considered incest.

Firemikokagome was banned from FFR for breaking the rules in 2008. According to an anon, she failed to reply to the mod note informing her for breaking the rules and wound up banned. She started to create multiple sockpuppets to get around the ban, one of which was eurasiangirl (later hikariofdark4). She was banned again each successive time she was discovered, up to the point LJ Abuse warned her to stop creating sockpuppets and suspended all her accounts. This suspension presumably erased all documentation of her activities at this point, so we only have an anon comment to go by.

Cut to 2010, where she creates hikariofdark4 and crossposts a role-play related rant to FFR and bad_rpers_suck, whining why no one wants to play out her pairing with her:

Princess Destiny bemoans to both fanficrants and marysues about a Sailor Moon fanfic titled The Great Matter written by papirini.

"WTF?! Since when are Sailor Senshi Tentacle Monsters?"

I found this on dotmoon.net the traumatized princess begins before posting the mark-up for a character, who doesn't even seem to be Mary Sueish other than having their species be a tentacle monster.

Over on fanficrants she proceeds to berate the author with "What were you thinking when you wrote this piece of godawful tripe." and "Thanks a lot for making my brain hurt, if you want to make a big deal out of my ranting I'll be scrubbing my brain."

Commenters are confused as to how the fic was bad and how the character in question is even a Sue other than being a tentacle monster.

The author of said fic also comes up and humorously writes "I AM HIGHLY OFFENDED THAT SOMEONE DOESN'T LIKE MY FANFIC TENTACLE SAILOR AND I WILL NOW PROCEED TO SLIT MY WRISTS."

Small, morsel-sized, but funny.

There's a bit of a wanklet breaking out over on the journal smsues, the Sailor Moon Sue of the Day. She reports a fanfic and the Author shows up with sockpuppets "sisters" who are ready to defend the Author at any cost.

Only it would seem that the Author, sailor_ryo_ohki, her "sister", angel_mina, and the Mouse sister all showed up at the same time, making it look like Ryo_Ohki and a couple of sockpuppets causing the wank.

Did I mention that the fanfic in question is a Space Channel 5 crossover? With the Sue working Ulala's job and show? avatarsues does, and Mousy-puppet starts off the wank.

Meanwhile, Ryo_Ohki packs up her toys and says she'll take down her fic to please everyone else. Only she doesn't. She comes back with a bug up her butt instead.

And of course, the famous line of "It's funny when you spork others, but when you do it to my friends, IT'S ON BIATCH!!!" is preached by angel_mina.

Another fandom favorite- the Mouse states that we're all jealous of Ryo_Ohki and that it's our fault that the world's going to hell because we're such BIG MEANIES. The Mouse later claims that Ryo_Ohki's such a good writer, her fanfic is being read on a Radio Show. *snortgiggle*

It appears to be a typical day in the neighborhood when _makochan_ posts a pic of a Sailor Moon cosplayer whose costume wasn't quite done yet. Crit is given, and some of it is even constructive. It apparently all starts when a Sailor Moon cosplayer at cosplay.com named Usagi Dumpling posts a picture of herself holding a straw with the words "I SEE YUU" and "I EET YUU" photoshopped onto it. Apparently, this is 'stealing' the phrase of another Sailor Moon cosplayer named Usagi Kou (sailor-moon at c.c), whose friends unleash the fires of hell upon the poor girl for daring to infringe upon her 'copyrighted' pose and phrase and get the girl's picture removed from the site.

But this goes from 'wanky' into 'just plain fuckin' meta' really quickly, as Usagi Kou tracks down the thread at about page six, and the other two threads that were running *simultaneously* about her. I don't think there's any way I can sum up this girl's total break from reality, but the links pretty well speak for themselves.

She does, however, do smokin' Sailor Moon cosplay. She just... thinks other Moon cosplayers are cosplaying as *her* occasionally. O_o Small bonuses are: each thread devolving into an image flood; an entire page devoted to smackin' on how 'ugly' the chick is (okay, now you're just being mean. She really *is* very pretty); her FAQ explaining very politely that, no silly, she's not the *real* Usagi-chan *giggle* (really, do people ask questions like this?); and the 'music video' full of still shots of her and her boyfriend ("Mamochan", if you're interested @_@ Yes, he actually responds in one thread, calling himself that) looking longingly at each other and at park scenery while "Dreaming of You" plays in the background (you can find it on her site by going under 'Extras').

Go-Gaia.com is utterly wankariffic. I found yet another one in the anime/manga discussion board.

A friend of mine found this little sweetie on the mediaminer.org forum and I thought that the FIRST thread she sent me was a doozy. (The first thread, for the record, got wanky after my friend mentioned that generally she didn't like incest pairings except in certain circumstances or the relation is no closer than first cousin- the subject was demented couples. She got ripped by some Trunks/Vegeta shippers. *rolls eyes*) The subject of this fun little wankery thread? "Attack of the Bad Cosplay!"

Harmless enough premise- find those who have really bad costumes- those who obviously don't care and have sloppy costumes or costumes that don't even LOOK like what they're supposed to be- but it started off badly. Someone posted a picture of a dark-haired girl in Sailor Venus's costume from the Sailor Moon musical (meaning the costume had a few differences from any of her anime costumes) and the comment about it was that it was bad costuming because she looked like REI in Sailor V's costume.

Their complaint had been that her HAIR wasn't blonde.

*gasp!* Oh heavens! Her hair isn't the right color! It's not the right length! Or style! Oh, look at this person in the Meilin costume! Even though the costume is really good, she has blonde hair! THAT'S JUST NOT RIGHT!

THAT was their definition of bad cosplay. Almost none of the costume they posted about were bad- the problem was that the person didn't look the part because of their hair color/length/style or that they were the wrong build. One guy had a nice Yamcha costume and they slammed him for being to skinny to be Yamcha.

The wankery, she hurts my brain.

Well, someone came in and tried to point out to these people (almost none of whom had actually cosplayed) that the costumes were good- that a person's body build or hair should not limit them to what characters they can cosplay as. She got ripped into, the wankers spouting rebuttles such as this: "I see none of these in here. If you don't look like someone, you don't. Trying to look like them only makes you look ridiculous like the people in these pics. From the people in these pics, the only one that looks _half_ like the original, is the Mei Ling one, BUT, her hairdo looks more like Sakura. Maybe she was trying for one of the artworks with Sakura using that outfit?" This, of course, only proved them to be wankers. No matter how many times this poor soul pointed out that they were being wankers and that wigs were expensive and many probably couldn't find them except at Halloween, the wankers wouldn't listen.

Finally, my friend (Becca Stareyes) stepped in to point this out as well, using clear, concise, and simple terms for them so that they could understand and she got chewed out by the moderator for RUINING the thread.
