Fail mods are failing

[info]sepiamagpie
Dearest, beloved, Fandom Wank.

I know you were looking forward to great excitement today. Some of you said words to me that indicated you anticipated fiery 'judgement' upon those who remained fresh and dewey white, those you call n00bs.

Anyway, you got today instead.

Stop anticipating things, we'll just break your hearts.

Sincerely,

Sepia P. Magpie, Esq.

PS: Use this post to reflect on how you could be better people. Or just fuck around in the comments.

Women, oppressed? Surely not!

[info]wal_lace
Some of you may have vague memories of some recent bother over a cute statue. No? Well, it hardly drew much attention.

Others, however, are not so quick to forget. So when, over on [info]scans_daily, [info]bloodsend makes a post featuring a somewhat objectified image of the male form, reactions are varied.

Some find it a turn-off. Some (presumably having noticed that, hey, this is exactly what a masculine version of Wonder Woman's costume would look like) are amused. Various people declare their undying love for Gail Simone, rumoured to be responsible (the picture is rapidly revealed to be fanart).

[info]radiumhead decides to make a stand for the rights of his oppressed gender.

I dont wanna hear shit about that Mary Jane statue anymore.Women (and gay guys) got this thing. We're even.

(All punctuation his)

Shockingly, several women can't seem to accept that this charming picture makes up for not only the aforementioned statue, but also the fact that about 80%* of female comic-book characters wear, or have worn in the past, a similar costume (and had their bodies drawn in a similar way).

Those whacky, whacky fangirls. )

It seems to have run its course fairly quickly (between midnight and six o'clock this morning), but it was amusing while it lasted.

And some good points were made.

*A conservative estimate, I know. But I'm pretty sure that quite a few have never exposed their midriffs in battle)

Spider-Wank: Mary Jane, Domestic Goddess

[info]scapebabe
Rosie the Riveter must be in tears over this one, and it's obviously set back feminism 30 years. Apparently the boys at Sideshow Collectibles have produced a very very popular maquette of Mary Jane doing what any modern girl would do for her super hero man...wash his costume. In a thong, pearls, and low cut shirt. Not exactly a thrill to me admittedly, but ZOMG people, it's the fall of civilization!

At any rate, Here's the thread, plus pictures of the maquette in question.

Because you know, there's no sexism in the comics industry!
