The event hasn't received much attention thus far, but everyone who's responded to the original post looks enthusiastic and willing to throw money at the idea.

Unsurprisingly, people from other corners of the fandom have begun to speak up, sharing stories of past exploits and linking to the book written by a previous VB/AB/TF victim.

Andy, aware of his reputation in fandom, has made several posts on his most recent Tumblr in the past few months, saying that the past is behind him and refuting the claims of people who are preemptively warning the SPN fandom about his exploits.

Only time will tell if he has really changed his ways, but all signs point to no.

One final note: misgendering is not cool. There are about 10 million reasons to mock Andrew Blake, but his gender identity is not one of them.

ETA: Now matured from "having just finished his 20s" to "30 with a lot of job experience", our hero has posted more details about the application process, explaining that everything might go wrong and that's just the way that cons work, and that pretty much all of the cool stuff mentioned thus far might be too expensive if they don't get enough participants. So Castiel had sex with a lady in the last episode of Supernatural, and the fandom lost its mind, which is predictable ... but it lost its collective mind at at WB exec who had apparently just signed up for Twitter. The Fandom DeBunker (sort of like Snopes for the SPN fandom and widely appreciated as impartial) has some screencaps, unfortunately out of order, but you can get the idea. In short, upon being prodded by fans, Chad Kennedy said that it wasn't their intention for Castiel and Dean Winchester to be bi. Kennedy then valiantly took arms against a sea of troubles before ominously tweeting "Damon Lindelof was right" (which I suppose is a reference to this) and bahleeting his Twitter account.

To be clear, nobody is really certain what this guy's role at WB is, what his involvement in the show is, and nobody knew who the hell he was until like ten days ago.

Another fan has the same Twitter screencaps with helpful commentary: "The writers are fuck cowards right now. They know what they did. And they know what they started."

One tumblr user with the screenname Octoswan is not only a SPN fan, but also a housemate of Osric Chau, a young talented actor who works on Supernatural. She writes, "Haha so it’s pretty clear that Chad Kennedy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Poor guy walked into the belly of the beast and poked the bear with a big pointy stick. He said some dumb, uninformed things about a sensitive subject in a fandom he’s admitted to only just becoming aware of. Methinks he didn’t get the memo. Totally his fault for not doing his homework, but gosh, what a silly gaffe! //sigh" And then suggests that fandom go listen to some nice music or read a good book.

Octoswan texts Osric Chau about the kerfuffle, and he writes a note on Twitlonger trying to help fans feel better, including bits about puppies, kittens, and hot chocolate. It appears to work. Writer Adam Glass also takes to Twitter to remind people that Chad Kennedy doesn't actually write the show, and then he adds a hint: "If u asks @PaulMcCartney what does a song he wrote mean, he'd tell you he had some ideas but would be more interested in what you think. BTW."

Spoilers for the Season 9 of Supernatural ... again ...

So the Supernatural fandom is divided between an old guard and a new breed, between J2 shippers and Misha minions, between LiveJournal and Tumblr, between the True Fans who know that the show is about two brothers and whatever the hell Destiel shippers are. Heretics? And spn_gossip, being on Livejournal and filled with J2 shippers and tinhatters, is of course opposed to the Destiel tumblrites. Anyway, some anonymous person claims that they have insider information about the upcoming season, specifically that "-There will be canon Destiel this season, and it feature in 9.04. Sorry guys. -By canon Destiel, I mean that Dean and Castiel are going to be in an acknowledged romantic relationship." (Later, they clarify, and, honestly, it doesn't sound any more or less "romantic" than any scenes that Dean and Castiel have had before, but whatever.)

Most of the thread is people arguing about the anon's legitimacy and whether this squares with other information, etc., but an anon breaks it up by saying, "Cards on the table: I'm a pro-canon Dean/Cas shipper, and I REALLY doubt this. Are you sure your source isn't reading too much into the usual lol-gay the writers do?"

And, of course, another anon wants to know why a Destiel fan would be interested in Destiel-related gossip:

I thought I'd write about the SPN fandom doing something that wasn't horrendous, but, rather, harmlessly crazy.

Jerry Wanek, a/the production designer for Supernatural, Tweeted after episode 8.17, "Goodbye Stranger," aired on March 30 2013, hinting that a clue had been included in the set design for Naomi's office. Naomi is a new character played by Amanda Tapping, and, naturally, a lot of people in the fandom hate her character. (Youtube link.) She is a lady. Coincidence?! Anyway, Naomi (Tapping) hacked into Castiel's brain and has been controlling him most of the season. She tries to use this mind control to force him to kill Dean, but Dean's Love For Castiel breaks the spell.

No, I'm not kidding. That's an objective description of what happens.

A fan named Neinka takes some screencaps and notices that the lighting on the windows changes from white to blue/purple/pink. She writes, "OK I will bite…what’s with the different colors?" dean-man-of-feathers replies,

221bowties has had enough of this nonsense and selects the capital letters of one of Hamilton's tweets to spell out "BUTSEKS." And then they must clarify that they were making a joke because people are taking them seriously.

Remember that Misha Collins Youtube video I told you about? Obviously filmed last summer, it briefly shows the exterior of the Vancouver-area building in which the Collins family is temporarily living.

A fan used the landmarks shown in the video to locate the Collins's address, and proceeds to tape the URLs of fan Tumblrs to trees around the building.

Misha fans totally flip their shit and try to arrange for Vancouver-based fans to remove any signs before anyone sees them.

Meanwhile, a new tumblr pops up defending the actions of the rogue URL-taper because Misha Collins has killed thousands of hypothetical people. Also, one time Misha cut down a dead tree and replanted it in a traffic island with a sarcastic Latin plaque on it which shows more disrespect for trees than taping paper to them.

Interestingly, as briefly mentioned in some of the above posts, there is a fan project to hand-write dozens (or hundreds) of fan's tumblr URLs in a book and give it to MC at a fan conference. What he's supposed to do with them is unclear, especially considering that tumblr users often change their URLs, and that Misha doesn't understand what Tumblr is. Then again, neither do I, and I've been using the site for two years.

A fierce and long-time battle has raged between the Wincest (Sam/Dean) and Destiel (Dean/Castiel) shippers in the Supernatural fandom. What's that? Ships that don't involve Dean? Ha, ha!

Of course, Wincest fans have to constantly put up with harrassment because the guys are brothers so they get a lot of "Ew, that's sick!" and "Do you want to have sex with your brother?!" But mostly the wank comes from Wincest fans who are dedicated Castiel/Misha Collins haters, and Destiel fans who are Sam/Jared Padalecki haters, and despite these being a decided minority there being many prominent except to these stereotypes, each side continues to paint the other with the same brush.

Lately some shippers decided that it would be appropriate to bring an actor's two-year-old son into the debate, because that's always classy.

The tumblr blog "Things Better Than Destiel," which has listed such things as genocide, miscarriage, and, charmingly, rape, created a post that reads "Things That Are Better Than Destiel: ABORTION" and then tagged it with "West Collins," who is Misha Collin's two-year-old son. Katie (tumblr URL: kickitintheslash), writes:

Despite their claims that “THIS BLOG ISN’T POKING FUN AT ATROCITIES The only thing being mocked here is destiel,” I think this post alone makes the true intentions of this blog quite clear. West Collins is a CHILD. He has nothing to do with Destiel nor is he even aware of its existence. Tagging him - with the obviously implication that Misha and Vicki should have had him aborted - crosses a serious line. Rape jokes are horrible enough on their own… but this is almost ominously threatening. Misha Collins (actor who plays Castiel from Supernatural) is known for being supportive of slash and also for being a giant troll. Misha shook up the Supernatural fandom in late October when he told a small group of fans at the Supernatural convention in Chicago that he thought that Dean and Castiel were in love, an opinion he apparently formed without discussing it with anyone on set (!). "It may be unspoken but that doesn’t mean it’s not there," he explained, and when a fan asked why it couldn't just be a bromance, "Misha just shrugged."

Of course Dean/Cas fans were delighted that Misha had apparently joined their ranks, and some went so far as to say that Misha's statement made Dean/Cas canon. Other fans were sure Misha was just fucking with them. It's hard to say with Misha.

Now, a magazine called Gay Calgary recently put up a video interview of Misha Collins taken at the Edmonton Expo, which confusingly took place before the Chicago convention though the interview wasn't released until after. The rag describes the interview as "one of the most bizarre dialogues we’ve ever conducted, but a must see nevertheless," which is pretty standard for Misha's interviews actually. In the relevant part of the interview, the interviewer talks about getting attention from Dean/Cas fans. Misha seems to defend his fans and launches into a succinct explanation of slash fanfic:

(I haven't seen any of Teen Wolf yet and I know as much about it as Gingerhaze, so if I get anything wrong - please help me out by correcting me!)

The website AfterElton.com is holding a tournament-style poll to determine the most popular slash pairing, and the championship round comes down to Sterek (Teen Wolf) vs. Destiel (Supernatural). It's a very close contest, and supporters have been tweeting official working-on-the-show people to get them to promote the poll on Twitter. This is a good short summary. Jeff Davis, producer and writer for Teen Wolf, replied to some tweets about it in August, but things really started to heat up with Misha Collins, who plays one half of the Destiel pairing on Supernatural, found out about the poll:

Then Stephen Lunsford, who plays "Matt" on Teen Wolf, replied:

And then posts a link to the poll. Other various actors from both shows start tweeting links to the poll, though as of now, Misha is the only person actually in the pairings to respond. Even the official Twitters for both shows pimp the poll and encourage people to vote for their respective slash pairings.

Thing is, there is much less fighting between the two sets of shippers than one might expect; many people ship both and have trouble choosing who they are going to vote for. But people really care about who wins; why? Because if Sterek wins, it will become canon! (Naturally!) But while they're passionate, most of the shippers aren't hateful; the solution to this conflict is, of course, porn:

“You didn’t think you were going to win that easily, did you?” Destiel growled, nipping the younger wolf’s ear, revelling in the shudder it caused.

Stupid Misha, just had to whore himself out over a poll that has nothing to do with SPN only because he feels this kind of poll is the only way he will stay relevant. The thing is for Sterek, they are the show and this poll only is a continuation of what the story is about and will make the show better. Destiel winning will make the show worse and the online part of fandom nasty and vindictive. This isn't the show and winning this they will only want it actually in the show.

What has happened to Sterek, I thought they had the bigger fandom. I am calling cheaters! Destiel always cheat and there is no way they got that far ahead. I mean I know most of them have no life but still, the lost to Glee.

And someone creates a tumblr called Spn Fans Against Destiel - sorry, SPN FANS AGAINST DESTIEL in all-caps - which, I'm gonna warn you, is really fond of homophobic slurs.

People are upset, of course, but the unpleasantness that the Supernatural fandom can produce remains unsurpassed. In that respect, Supernatural has definitely got the Teen Wolf fandom beat.

Edit: Jensen Ackles is not okay with Destiel and therefore Misha's a dick for talking about it maybe? Jensen Ackles doesn't have a twitter so he won't be commenting on the poll. They're referring to an incident at this year's Comic-Con where a fan outright asked Misha and Jensen what they thought of Destiel, and Jensen replied that he didn't know what it was. Observe what is either passive-aggressive hostility or cheerful acceptance, depending on who you ask! Is Jensen stroking Misha's cheek a sign of, like, something? I can't tell anymore. It's turtles all the way down. Gay turtles.

What did Jared Padalecki do to make an anonymous commentor on the spn_gossip group write, "It's an odd thing to watch someone's -a celebrity's- likability deteriorate in front of you, it really is. The rate of it is pretty shocking too"? You'd probably guess that he was arrested for drunk driving, or claimed during an interview that vitamins can cure post-partum or something like that. You'd be wrong.

What did Padalecki do that made his likeability "[plummet] faster than the stock market on a Black Monday"? He appeared in a music video with his beard.

Oh, and his wife is there too!

Seriously, the thing I find most offensive about these threads is the lack of beard jokes. C'mon! It's right there! Jared Padelecki has a beard in a music video in which his wife, who you claim to be his beard, also appears!

Jared and Genevieve Padelecki acted in a music video for a song by the Brian Buckley Band, which Jared also produces or finanaces or something, I don't care. If you don't want to watch it, it is pithly summarized by a spn_gossip anon thus:

Gen is in it for half a second at the end. All she does is open their (real) front door and bite her lip.

The plot of the video seems to be that Jared did something BAD (cheated with Jensen? C'mon Jared is only human!) and then gets drunk/hairy for a while, before putting on his magic bowtie and using cue cards stolen from "Love Actually" to try and win his girl back. Gen answers with lip biting.

spn_gossip responds with the disgust and caution usually reserved for Stormfront:

"Is anyone going to rip the video and repost it? I don't want to give them official hits..... although I also don't want to watch the video.... help?"

Another anon writes, "Yeah, there are things that I think an actor particularly just can't bounce back from, and this will probably be Jared's for me. It's a good/sad question, IDK I hope it's a development."

The issue is that Jared is using the video to promote his allegedly fake marriage, which would be awful?

I wonder what the hell Jared meant when he said at the Nerd thing, he was doing this BB video just for 'himself'? He obviously meant he was doing it to promote his fake marriage, just like every time he has 'employed' the BB Band for cons to provide an excuse to slobber over her in public.

Jared manages to make me feel nauseous fairly often these days, especially when he's pimping the tiny no-talent fake wife who has managed to complicate his and Jensen's life in an incredibly irresponsible way. Ugh.

Misha Collins is an actor from Supernatural best known for two things: his cheerful shit-stirring ways (my favorite example is when he told Australian journalists that the Supernatural fandom is "an incredibly sexist group of people") and the charity he co-founded with Supernatural fans, Random Acts, which most famously supports a Haitian community center/orphanage in Jacmel, Haiti. Despite Misha's heavy utilization of sarcasm, his fiercely loyal fans seem to take everything with almost painful sincerity, which leads to a lot of wank.

About a month ago, Misha's fanbase on Tumblr were already on edge from uncertainty about whether Misha would return for Season 8 of Supernatural. Secondly, a group of fans had started a fan project called Supernatural: Silent Majority, because this is Supernatural fandom and everything has to be a fucking operation. The Spn: Silent Majority is petitioning the showrunners to focus the upcoming season of Supernatural on Sam and Dean's relationship, which Castiel/Misha fans felt was a covert attack on Castiel's continued presence on the show.

Someone began sending Misha's fan anonymous notes suggesting that he be set on fire. Or according to one post, "Gasoline is way too expensive. Someone just needs to push him into oncoming traffic. Road kill Misha Collins! rotflmao."

Then one identical message appears on a number of blogs (1, 2, 3, 4, 5): "I didn't start this whole 'lets set misha on fire craze' but I have to say that setting him on fire would be an improvement on his overall appearance. I bet he'd even be taken off the ugliest actor list. I mean, just between you and me, the guy is hideous. Everyone thinks so until they start crushing on him because of Castiel but without Castiel to make him look appealing, he's just gross to look at. You have to at least agree with me on that, right? I thought so."

Fans are upset, naturally (although my favorite response is "Set Misha on fire? Set him on fire with the flames of my love! I think that's what they meant.") One fan suggests notifying the fuzz:

If we rally together we can make sure these sick haters get the consequences they deserve. Not liking a TV character is your prerogative, but wishing to see such harm come to the actor playing them is demented. Some people are clearly lunatics and it only takes one person to be crazy enough to want to go through with any of these threats for Misha to end up in real danger. So we must take all this seriously. Report it all if it comes up on your Dash or ends up in your Ask….pass on all the permalinks to Tumblr staff and keep Clif informed of what’s going on.
Misha is a good man, he doesn’t deserve a hate campaign this extreme against him, it’s getting ridiculous and scary and I’m concerned for his well being at this point.
Don’t feed the trolls, just report them. They wont feel so high and mighty when the police come knocking on their door, death threats are after all an illegal activity.

Then on May 31st log onto any social network site & post about why you hate Misha Collins. Take a moment to send an email to the CW asking them to have Misha removed off Supernatural permanently (or fired). Let's make this quietly viral to represent the majority! Follow us on Twitter @ IHMCD. *KEEP THIS MESSAGE PRIVATE*.

As Asstiel points out, there is indeed a twitter called IHMCD (now deleted) which had over 600 followers at the time.

As Misha's fan rush to report the account for "spam," someone tweets another Supernatural actor, Jim Beaver (@jumblejim), about the IHMCD campaign. He responds:

No one really expected Misha to respond because he rarely talks about fandom (and never mentions Supernatural on his Twitter) but he defies expectations, posting the same update to his twitter and Facebook (and adding a picture on FB): "Some jerks are trying to get me fired, but it's not gonna be easy because I've got seniority at the gas station where I'm working these days." Accompanied by a very bad manip of Misha working at a 1950s-style gas station, no doubt created by Misha himself with his mad Photoshop skillz.

Four of Misha's tumblr fans get together and declare that May 31st will be We Love Misha Collins Day instead and try to get #welovemishacollins to trend. They also collect pictures and submitted anecdotes from fans explaining why they love Misha Collins. (My favorite is this story, recalled separately, of Misha trying to get help for a homeless man with diabetes.)

The tweets draw attention from website Hypable, who report on it, and Kristy Walker, from endofshow.com.

Now, all this attention angers SPN: Silent Majority, who believe they've been unfairly associated with the hating Misha Collins campaign, who call the whole thing a hoax and claim it was orchestrated by Misha fans in order to make Misha seem sympathetic. Of course, there's another theory.

So who was responsible for the trolling? Was it a hoax? Tumblr doesn't log IPs of anons so there's probably no way to know. Only one thing is certain: Misha gives no fucks.

... or so fandom seems to think. The lovers might disagree.

So, it’s been announced that Genevieve Padalecki is pregnant.

And the Supernatural fandom, naturally, loses it.

Like any rational fan, they question it:
