Fail mods are failing

[info]sepiamagpie
Dearest, beloved, Fandom Wank.

I know you were looking forward to great excitement today. Some of you said words to me that indicated you anticipated fiery 'judgement' upon those who remained fresh and dewey white, those you call n00bs.

Anyway, you got today instead.

Stop anticipating things, we'll just break your hearts.

Sincerely,

Sepia P. Magpie, Esq.

PS: Use this post to reflect on how you could be better people. Or just fuck around in the comments.

When MovieHole mucks it up. X-Files Wank ensues.

[info]thinkey
It seems some places are desperate for X-Files news - so desperate it seems, that they're willing to post without any research and make it up (original article) (from MovieHole - Note, this article has changed several times as you will see):
MovieHole posts article using parts of old scripts and makes a plot  )

Someone at the Haven  picks up on it and pokes holes through this guy's entire story.  Someone suggests they e-mail the guy.  And they do.   Someone makes it a point to point out "I get the impression from other places that they don't practice with the highest journalistic standards over there. It makes Ain't It Cool News looks like the Washington Post."

Mr. MovieHole guy e-mails one Haven member back, with this
response )

And goes on to send the member the side script for one of the characters, which is just a portion of a really old script from the series.  MovieHole guy is still clueless.

THEN, Mr. MovieHole guy goes on to change his
story to this )

Ohh.. nice shot there Mr. MovieHole guy - do your research first and there won't be any problems.  After a head count at the Haven, it appears no member of the Haven Mafia had threathened the guy. Moving on....

Someone on the Haven board, yet again posts the dialogue from the episodes (as noted in these stories here , here , and here )  that the sides are clearly from old episodes.  So, did they save the calamity?

No sir!

MovieWeb picks up on the story!  Everyone disses MovieWeb in the comments!

MovieHole Guy goes ahead and changes
his story again!  )

His hole gets dug a little deeper, he posted the entire slide - does this mean a DMCA notice? One never knows!!  Anyway the article, in its ever changing state is here.  One thing is clear, MovieHole guy needs to stick to what he knows - because clearly he knows nothin' of the X-Files and should stay far, far away from it!

And by another show of hands, the Haven Mafia still claims they had nothign to do with it! :P

A tiny Erinblair XF Wank

[info]rubytramp
Our little pal Erinblair is at it again over at the fic board at The Haven. This time it's her usual cry for attention in a thread asking about self-promotion.

Oy.

And despite the usual extremely gracious responses by other fic posters she just.doesn't.get.it.

Here we go again, more fun XFWank

[info]rubytramp
You'd think that a show which has been off the air for coming up on two years now would die quiet death, but no, the insane fandom of The X-Files just keeps on wanking.

Here is a fun little thread from the Cow Pasture discussing the EVOL that is Gillian Anderson.

As an extra added attraction a complimentary thread from the Snoggers.

I have a sick feeling in the bottom of my stomach that this is only the beginning.

Old flamewars never die, they just retreat to their corners and BURN

[info]kristenk2
Once upon a time, there was the X-Files fandom, and oh, the flamewars burned.

But time passed, and people left, and then one day the show was cancelled. This should be the end of the fairy tale, right?

WRONG.

XF fandom is still out there, with all the crazies off in their own little corners, patting each other on the back and nursing their hurts. There aren't as many flamewars anymore, if only because the wackier fen keep to within their own circles and therefore don't have anyone to dispute their wild-ass opinions.

But that doesn't make those opinions any less wanky! ;-)

So while TXF has been off the air for, what, a year and a half now, and Duchovny (hereafter known as DD) left the show a year plus before that, there are still DDFans who are as bitter and virulent as they were the day he announced he was leaving. And there are also the faithful and clueless of the Haven Spoilers folder, who continue to cling to the idea of a second movie like a lifeboat in the North Atlantic.

Let's go see what these crazy kids are up to, shall we? )

In conclusion...these people are all whacked. I can't decide if their continued passion still flaming this hot two years after the show ended is something to admire or fear.

I say...fear. *g*

[ETA: This entry is dedicated to [info]snacky, for convincing me to take it out of a locked entry in my LJ and let us all bask in the nostalgic nuttiness. Hee!]

My first wank!

[info]enkogneatoh
It's a mini-wank, but I have high hopes for explosive growth. I also wanted to get it in before parts started disappearing. ;)

Now, many of you know that XF fandom isn't the hotbed of high-quality wank that it once was. However, one topic is sure to bring the wank every time: The Spooky Awards. Sure enough, the annual winners were announced this week, and before we knew it, the wank, small though it may be (so far), had begun!

It started on a new set of message boards with a series of posts (now its own forum!) from several authors bringing forth allegations of cheating and naming several authors who won awards. The discussion crosses over on another message board, where the wank originator posts a link to the previous message board, and two of the accused authors visit and are rather taken aback by the charges.

Ahhh, awards wank is just sooooo predictable ...

ETA: Now the owner of the first message board has posted to the second message board bitching about the bitching. Hell, I'd better just link to that entire thread, because I'm betting there'll be more. ;)
