For the last year and half or so, webcomic Sinfest has featured an intermittent storyline about feminism and "the sisterhood," with many of the characters being confronted with their anti-feministic views to varying reactions. As the comic started out with a lot of humor about drugs, sex, and stereotypes (and also a cute dog and cat, but that's not important right now), some readers have not been pleased with this change.

The storyline's been going on long enough that wank has started to spill over a bit into many online "discussions" about comics and feminism (Shortpacked's comments section, for example), but is most conveniently observed right in Sinfest's own forums.

This is where the wank gets entertaining.( '...a smattering of the hopelessly ignorant we might be able to lure in and taunt mercilessly.' )

Over on D_princesses--a spot for many things Disney and princess--a post is made asking to share some Princess cosplay and arts. (warning: Huge images. I had to scroll sideways and my res is 1600 by 900.)

The first pic is a cosplay of a fanart, and there's some images of the Disney ladies wearing less than what they wear.

Cue people fussing that there's too much T and/or A from the first comment:

More feminism wank on Fandom Secrets. Surprise surprise!

This time, the secret is about female fanservice. monpetitpetaq claims that no matter how well-rounded and awesome the female characters in Bleach are, their awesomeness is negated by their large breasts because female fanservice harms real life women somehow. (Well, I can see the huge boobs being a problem for one's back...)

Anon tries to argue that both forms of sexism are equally bad, but monpetitpetaq and paperclipchains aint buying it.

Also apparently female fanservice is "icky" but male fanservice is ZOMG YUMMY!!!! And panzer_knight adds to the "big boobs = sucky character" pile. Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, there was a LiveJournal user called _allecto_ who hated Joss Whedon and his so called feminist reputation, and was determined to expose him for what he was.

To that end, she posted a rant on her LiveJournal which, to be quite frank, has to be read to be believed.

Zoe calls Mal 'sir' (thereby proving that Joss hates women).

Mal threatens to duct-tape Kaylee's mouth and lock her in the hold (thereby proving that _allecto_ would not recognise humour if it bit her on the butt while wearing a Groucho Marx disguise...oh, and Joss hates women).

On the strength of Joss' work on Firefly and interviews she has seen, _allecto_ alleges that:

Actor James Urbaniak has a livejournal. I know him only as Dr. Venture from the Venture Brothers, but he's done a bunch of other stuff.

His resume has caught the attention of one karen_strang. In her inaugural LJ post, she compiles a list of "the most egregious woman-haters of America's culture". This list includes urbaniak. In her "review" of American Splendor, she writes:

karen_strang is writing a book called The Urbaniak Effect. ( No, really. )

Then the whole thing kind of just tapers off. Maybe they'll continue picking at each other. Maybe it'll turn out that karen_strang is a sockpuppet of urbaniak's. Who knows?

And she felt that should be placed behind an LJ cut so she's not assaulted by gender issues on the Intarwebs in a public comm basically geared toward a minority gender in a hobby.

To make it better, she spells women as "womyn". Yeah.

After getting smacked around by other girl gamers for more or less 52 comments, she's back for more, throwing a stamping, squealing, OMG UR SO MEEN I'M LEAVING post in disguise, complete with an adominishment on those who didn't feel the need to speak up:
