"People who call him blond creep me out."

[info]lady_ganesh
This is too funny not to share. Someone over at [info]spnpermanon calls Dean (played by Jensen Ackles) blond.

The anons explode!

Things get a little weird in places but mostly this is HAIR COLOR IS SERIOUS BUSINESS OMG.

My favorite comment:

This entire thread is an awesome object lesson for what debates are like in fandom:

"You're wrong, Dean is blonde!"
"No, you're wrong, Dean's a brunet!"
"I have my opinion, but I won't impose it on you."
"He's hot either way, so who gives a fuck?"

Rinse, repeat. Change the topic, and you have every fandom debate, ever. It's kind of fascinating; I feel like I should be taking notes.

ETA: Thanks, [info]wank_report mousey! You have improved my Friday.

EDIT: A mousey reports in with even more hair wank!

Fail mods are failing

[info]sepiamagpie
Dearest, beloved, Fandom Wank.

I know you were looking forward to great excitement today. Some of you said words to me that indicated you anticipated fiery 'judgement' upon those who remained fresh and dewey white, those you call n00bs.

Anyway, you got today instead.

Stop anticipating things, we'll just break your hearts.

Sincerely,

Sepia P. Magpie, Esq.

PS: Use this post to reflect on how you could be better people. Or just fuck around in the comments.

High School Musical wank

[info]mmanurere
Over on LJ's idontdance community, devoted to (apparently) a High School Musical slash couple, the mods post to ask people to please avoid making potentially racist remarks regarding the hair of one of the two characters involved.

Predictably, the wank is started in the first comment by [info]killerspork33, who takes every possible opportunity to point out that s/h/it knows a white person with hair like that!, and goes on to contribute half the comments and 80% of the point-missing and general wankery to the post as a whole.

Fortunately for the lulz-to-serious ratio of the wank, it's not all standard racism wank -- we have [info]alethalia wanking about how edgy and un-PC s/h/it is and how the mods are being oppressive and are suppressing s/h/it's speech.

[info]headachehead wanks over use of the word "retarded" as a generalized insult, is offended at being called immature, and complains about being disrespected for "having a sense of humor."

Small in terms of comment-count, but efficiently packaged. Now that it's hit metafandom in a comment, it might even expand.

Muppet Wizard of Oz aired this past Friday on ABC, and many muppet fans were excited about it and couldn't wait to see it. Afterwards, reviews in a thread over the on the Muppet Central site are mixed, some loving it and others outright hating it with a passion.

http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showthread.php?t=19886&page=1&pp=15

And for the most part, in the first 7-8 pages, everyone gets along, accepting each others opinions. Then it starts going slowly downhill. MWoO starts taking it personally that people are criticizing the movie. Accusations of racism start about page 11 after someone brings up The Wiz in comparison to other versions of the story. By pages 10-11, MWoO starts attacking anyone who voices their opnions against the movie (especially seems to get into it with Emerald).

And just for "Wha...?" factor, an indepth analysis of Miss Piggy's hair throughout the movie and what each style meant.
