Once upon a time, there was a BSG fan named starpollo who ran a Kara/Lee themed icon contest, karalee_ic. At some point she got burnt out on running the contest and announced that there would be no more rounds.

Then some time between then and now, starpollo decided to go and delete the comm, a fact which was discovered by anastashial. Alarmed by the loss of all those K/L icons, anastashial sent a message to starpollo urging her to undelete the comm.

However she also felt the need to announce this to the entire battlestar_blog community in a post that included a copypasta of her message to starpollo, a message I might add that smacks a little of fannish entitlement and self-importance.

This goes over about as well as you'd expect.

I knew with the season finale there would new Doctor Who wank popping up and I was not disappointed. It's more on the mild side but it could be a warm up to the things to come as the second half of the finale airs this weekend.

Over at doctorwho the mod thehornedgod makes a mod post asking everyone not to say anything or even use an icon that insults any of the Doctor's companions as they are all special people. What the mod fails to do in his 'all companions are special so leave them alone' is actually give proper guidelines to what 'bashing' consists of. But he does leave instructions to have people contact him if they see anyone bashing, in text or via icon, a character. And with that gross lack of information and the fact the mods are asking people to snitch on others, the wank explodes.

Be warned, there's some unfunny business in the first comment thread that should be skipped. The rest of the comments thankfully are more on the lines of 'why can't I say I dislike a character' and 'OMG the mod is being so mean'.

thehornedgod does clarify that people can discuss why they dislike a character but only if they give proper, well thought out reasons to why. Unfortunately that's all in the comments not the actual post, as the mods think people should just automatically understand where the line is instead of actually explaining the rules they've set.

There are also several people that wonder why people are getting so defensive about what people say about fictional characters, which the mod defensively snaps at telling them that if they don't like the rules, GTFO.

Well, 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' just came out four days ago technically, if you count it being released midnight on the 18th of November. Some countries don't get the movie until much later, even until December.

Of course this doesn't mean that the movie already hasn't been leaked on the 'net, of course. teh_indy already has caps up of GoF just a few days after release, and well, someone who hasn't seen it has complained about not cutting the post for spoilers.

From this, many people have basically said 'if you don't want to be spoiled, don't click the link', but much arguing is being had with solus_aetas with everyone about how it's not fair that some countries got to see GoF before others as well as claiming that the caps are illegal, and all of teh_indy's friends come to defend her honour and insult solus_aetas's English, amongst other things.

Our own ahiru made the very popular icon I'm using in response to a Harmonywank where someone claimed Harmonians were like black slaves.

Over at hp_icons it seems that his_way has decided to through a fit over the icons that buttahmellow has posted because of the ship he *Thinks* one of the icons is about.

People inform him of his mistake(more like stomp his ass, but hey YMMV).

hentai_icons is a low volume community dedicated to providing wank material for teenaged fanboys hentai icons.

In this post, aylajade request for help with two hentai icons that she can't get under the 40kb limit. At the bottom of the post, she includes a pornographic but non-hentai icon that was taken from a porn banner.

A couple of users point out that the icon's not hentai. This is apparently too much for aylajade to handle. She snaps at the people who've replied and edits her post to remove the non-hentai icon and whine about how badly she's been treated.

Aaah, comic feeds. When you get right down to it, they're almost Old Faithful in their ability to generate wank and/or stupidity. In this case I seem to have sparked it all through no real fault of my own. Earlier tonight on ye old Calvin and Hobbes feed someone (conuly) asked to use my dancing Calvin icon and I said sure and thought nothing of it. Later in the evening I check the comments on the Foxtrot feed and see that conuly has commented there as well. I post a joking little thing about not expecting to see the icon again so soon. All in good fun and all that.

And there the wank/stupidity begins. patty_duke who is giving off "troll" vibes from his/her initial comment already decides to stir things up a bit more. Watch as he calls me a furry and puts words in my mouth to the effect that I was accusing them of stealing the icon. Someone who subsequently deletes their post responds to this and we're off to the races. patty_duke whips out the "I wasn't talking to you" defense in response to the deleted post. theseloadedlips tells patty_duke to chill out which goes over as well as can be expected with patty_duke going into "WTF?" territory with their insults, which reasonably gets an eye-roll in response. Obviously being defeated in this deadly battle of wits, patty_duke calls in the hefty reinforcements in the way of his equally dim friend chr15 who wins "Stupid Comment of the Thread" award with this classic "i have no control over my intelligence, even less than your control over your name. you sir are just plain rude.". Alas theseloadedlips is sucked into feeding the wank even more, though at least he has a somewhat more amusing way of entertaining even while feeling the trolls/morons.

The wank is small now, but it has a bit of potential.
