Spinning Spinsters decides to write an essay about how fan culture is highly conservative, and bolsters and propagates male supremacist ideas.

People in the comments seem to agree with her and thank her for having opened their eyes to how they're really just serving The Man by writing about guys getting on it.

But wait! Is such blanket approval natural? Not in the least.

As soon as she starts getting disagreements that are pro-slash, she deletes them on the grounds that such defenses can be found anywhere. She also refuses to link to any examples because it'd be unhelpful/too much work, and characterizes most femmeslash stories as being like lesbian pornography.

For bonus points, she apparently also has the power to edit comments if they talk about women in unacceptable ways. Though it's okay to say that on House, 'the women on that show are so lousy, either shrews or sex objects or both', so I'm curious as to what she doesn't find acceptable.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to serve The Man.

I get the impression that many antiyaoi members are superkeen to avoid getting on F_W but you know...no comm is sacred and all that....

draconisangelus posts in antiyaoi linking to a HP rant in her own journal, which is rather...crudely worded.  People, one by one, raise their eyebrows politely at her before everyone gets into a nice brawl about "antiyaoi vs. antigay" and some choice remarks are made by the dear homophobe, my favourite moment being:

Not me, of course, but take a trip around the internet lately and you’ll find that the poor, put-upon fanboy is being subjected to higher-than-normal ammounts of cock by the unfeeling bastards in charge of the comics industry. How’s that for the antithesis of the typical complaints about homosexuality and even male sexuality in comics?

He goes on to provide complaints from other sources and counterarguements to those complaints. People are nonplussed, even when Butcher posts pictures of men in underwear to show that with great genitals come great packages. Arguements continue on whether it's oversexualized or not, if Steel is having an erection, and if people are complaining too much or not.

And finally the Joker gives his opinion.

So it's been announced that Heath Ledger has been offered the part of The Joker in the new Batman Begins Sequel. Not surprisingly, with a somewhat left-field choice, people seem to be a bit wanky over it. Some are caught up on Ledger's Brokeback Mountain role and are afraid teh ghey will leak into Batman and eat their minds... or something. There are some good examples here at digg.
