The Little-Known Fifth Horseman of Wank

[info]seiberwing
Orlando Jones, most recently known for playing Captain Frank Irving in the hit show Sleepy Hollow is also known for being the unofficial head of the entire fandom. But as a BNF of a modern occult fandom starring incredibly attractive people facing weekly supernatural threats and the potential of an oncoming apocalypse, he has been subjected to a rite of passage endured only by the greatest of our number. Our hero must now face the Wrath of the Tinhats.

Wrath beneath cut. )

EDIT: ORLANDO JONES HAS TWEETED THE POST GUYS OH MY GOD THIS IS NOT A DRILL SEMPAI NOTICED US

This is glorious http://www.journalfen.net/community/fandom_wank/1304731.html?style=mine …. And this http://tinyurl.com/mmmf8m5 BTW - What exactly is wank? #SPN #J2 #Destiel

TURNABOUT EDIT: The wank comes full circle as spn-gossip finds the above tweet. Insults fly and the fans don't seem to understand that people may have priorities that don't completely revolve around what the Supernatural fandom might think.

How Misha Collins ruined Christmas

[info]themadscientist
Writeup by mousie:

GISHWHES ends. Only a few days later, close enough to piggyback off the residual crazy, Misha launches christmaswillneverbethesame.com and a Twitter account, @HairyBumble, a homage to the Abominable Snowman from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, which featured cryptic and disturbing messages that the fandom tried to interpret with little to no luck. The site itself was just an image of the Snow Miser from one of those old Christmas movies and the text: "From the 'Mind' that brought you GISHWHES...A special holiday event!" There was also a countdown. (Pics/better explanation in this tumblr post: http://nerdylittledude.tumblr.com/post/36263744169/what-is-christmas-will-never-be-the-same)
People that entered their email address got one "get ready!" sort of mass email from Misha.

Misha Collins seems to like slash; slash fans are unhappy about this

[info]redcoast
Misha Collins (actor who plays Castiel from Supernatural) is known for being supportive of slash and also for being a giant troll. Misha shook up the Supernatural fandom in late October when he told a small group of fans at the Supernatural convention in Chicago that he thought that Dean and Castiel were in love, an opinion he apparently formed without discussing it with anyone on set (!). "It may be unspoken but that doesn’t mean it’s not there," he explained, and when a fan asked why it couldn't just be a bromance, "Misha just shrugged."

Of course Dean/Cas fans were delighted that Misha had apparently joined their ranks, and some went so far as to say that Misha's statement made Dean/Cas canon. Other fans were sure Misha was just fucking with them. It's hard to say with Misha.

Now, a magazine called Gay Calgary recently put up a video interview of Misha Collins taken at the Edmonton Expo, which confusingly took place before the Chicago convention though the interview wasn't released until after. The rag describes the interview as "one of the most bizarre dialogues we’ve ever conducted, but a must see nevertheless," which is pretty standard for Misha's interviews actually. In the relevant part of the interview, the interviewer talks about getting attention from Dean/Cas fans. Misha seems to defend his fans and launches into a succinct explanation of slash fanfic:

Which is gayer: Teen Wolf or Supernatural?

[info]redcoast
(I haven't seen any of Teen Wolf yet and I know as much about it as Gingerhaze, so if I get anything wrong - please help me out by correcting me!)

The website AfterElton.com is holding a tournament-style poll to determine the most popular slash pairing, and the championship round comes down to Sterek (Teen Wolf) vs. Destiel (Supernatural). It's a very close contest, and supporters have been tweeting official working-on-the-show people to get them to promote the poll on Twitter. This is a good short summary. Jeff Davis, producer and writer for Teen Wolf, replied to some tweets about it in August, but things really started to heat up with Misha Collins, who plays one half of the Destiel pairing on Supernatural, found out about the poll:
This homonormative poll makes me sick! http://www.afterelton.com/2012/09/ultimate-slash-madness-tourney-championship-round … -- No one could seriously think that those Teen Wolf jerks are gayer than us.
Then Stephen Lunsford, who plays "Matt" on Teen Wolf, replied:
@mishacollins I love you bro...but you will lose. LOSE I TELL YOU. Mwaha. MWAHAHAH. mwahaha. ha.
And then posts a link to the poll. Other various actors from both shows start tweeting links to the poll, though as of now, Misha is the only person actually in the pairings to respond. Even the official Twitters for both shows pimp the poll and encourage people to vote for their respective slash pairings.

Thing is, there is much less fighting between the two sets of shippers than one might expect; many people ship both and have trouble choosing who they are going to vote for. But people really care about who wins; why? Because if Sterek wins, it will become canon! (Naturally!) But while they're passionate, most of the shippers aren't hateful; the solution to this conflict is, of course, porn:
“You didn’t think you were going to win that easily, did you?” Destiel growled, nipping the younger wolf’s ear, revelling in the shudder it caused.
Sterek raised a trembling hand towards the chiselled half angel’s jaw. He stared at him, unflinching, before taking the older man’s lips between his teeth. He smirked at Destiel’s sharp intake of breath. “I never said it was going to be easy.”
” You can’t win this, Sterek. You’re too young.” Destiel replied hoarsely, hands clenching on either side of Sterek’s hips, steadying the wolf on his lap.
“I’m only 5 seasons younger than you, Destiel. I can handle it.” Sterek retorted breathlessly, before rocking himself shamelessly on top of the sexy hunter.
So, no, it's not from slash-fans fighting amongst themselves, but from, who else, crazy Supernatural fans:
(link) No, it's not until Sunday, but since Misha tweeted about it,Destiel is in the lead by about 2 percent. Stupid Misha, just had to whore himself out over a poll that has nothing to do with SPN only because he feels this kind of poll is the only way he will stay relevant. He is an idiot and I feel sorry for himself because he is going to be an actor that is only remembered for slash and fanfiction and porn. That isn't good for his acting future career. I really think he should start thinking twice about what he tweets but I don't think he ever will because he probably knows that he won't ever have something legitimate after SPN. He is just creepy, I mean I forever will remember himm as a pedo because of his role in that one film, where he admitted that after filming that movie he started looking at kids differently then he should. Does he not think about what he says?
(link) Is this a shock! Misha Collins was always going to pimp himself out. Unfortunately he has no care if it ruins Dean Winchester in the process. Because yes, I believe Castiel has female and male in him so he is definately bi and Misha is also imo.

Misha likes any attention. We've had Jared and especially Jensen lately getting attention and its been all J2, now he wants some attention even though its negative.

The thing is for Sterek, they are the show and this poll only is a continuation of what the story is about and will make the show better. Destiel winning will make the show worse and the online part of fandom nasty and vindictive. This isn't the show and winning this they will only want it actually in the show.

What has happened to Sterek, I thought they had the bigger fandom. I am calling cheaters! Destiel always cheat and there is no way they got that far ahead. I mean I know most of them have no life but still, the lost to Glee.
And someone creates a tumblr called Spn Fans Against Destiel - sorry, SPN FANS AGAINST DESTIEL in all-caps - which, I'm gonna warn you, is really fond of homophobic slurs.

People are upset, of course, but the unpleasantness that the Supernatural fandom can produce remains unsurpassed. In that respect, Supernatural has definitely got the Teen Wolf fandom beat.

Edit: Jensen Ackles is not okay with Destiel and therefore Misha's a dick for talking about it maybe? Jensen Ackles doesn't have a twitter so he won't be commenting on the poll. They're referring to an incident at this year's Comic-Con where a fan outright asked Misha and Jensen what they thought of Destiel, and Jensen replied that he didn't know what it was. Observe what is either passive-aggressive hostility or cheerful acceptance, depending on who you ask! Is Jensen stroking Misha's cheek a sign of, like, something? I can't tell anymore. It's turtles all the way down. Gay turtles.

Misha Collins is Supernatural's Keyser Soze

[info]redcoast
Misha Collins is an actor from Supernatural best known for two things: his cheerful shit-stirring ways (my favorite example is when he told Australian journalists that the Supernatural fandom is "an incredibly sexist group of people") and the charity he co-founded with Supernatural fans, Random Acts, which most famously supports a Haitian community center/orphanage in Jacmel, Haiti. Despite Misha's heavy utilization of sarcasm, his fiercely loyal fans seem to take everything with almost painful sincerity, which leads to a lot of wank.

About a month ago, Misha's fanbase on Tumblr were already on edge from uncertainty about whether Misha would return for Season 8 of Supernatural. Secondly, a group of fans had started a fan project called Supernatural: Silent Majority, because this is Supernatural fandom and everything has to be a fucking operation. The Spn: Silent Majority is petitioning the showrunners to focus the upcoming season of Supernatural on Sam and Dean's relationship, which Castiel/Misha fans felt was a covert attack on Castiel's continued presence on the show.

Someone began sending Misha's fan anonymous notes suggesting that he be set on fire. Or according to one post, "Gasoline is way too expensive. Someone just needs to push him into oncoming traffic. Road kill Misha Collins! rotflmao."

Then one identical message appears on a number of blogs (1, 2, 3, 4, 5): "I didn't start this whole 'lets set misha on fire craze' but I have to say that setting him on fire would be an improvement on his overall appearance. I bet he'd even be taken off the ugliest actor list. I mean, just between you and me, the guy is hideous. Everyone thinks so until they start crushing on him because of Castiel but without Castiel to make him look appealing, he's just gross to look at. You have to at least agree with me on that, right? I thought so."

Fans are upset, naturally (although my favorite response is "Set Misha on fire? Set him on fire with the flames of my love! I think that's what they meant.") One fan suggests notifying the fuzz:
If we rally together we can make sure these sick haters get the consequences they deserve. Not liking a TV character is your prerogative, but wishing to see such harm come to the actor playing them is demented. Some people are clearly lunatics and it only takes one person to be crazy enough to want to go through with any of these threats for Misha to end up in real danger. So we must take all this seriously. Report it all if it comes up on your Dash or ends up in your Ask….pass on all the permalinks to Tumblr staff and keep Clif informed of what’s going on.
Misha is a good man, he doesn’t deserve a hate campaign this extreme against him, it’s getting ridiculous and scary and I’m concerned for his well being at this point.
Don’t feed the trolls, just report them. They wont feel so high and mighty when the police come knocking on their door, death threats are after all an illegal activity.
And the troll escalates pretty quickly:
Anonymous asked: People who want to set Misha on fire have it all wrong. You wouldn't start with his face. You'd start by pulling down his pants, soaking his entire crotch area with gasoline, and then letting it spread from there! Common sense, right?

babyangelcastiel replied: Excuse me? Are you fucking kidding me? You have actually come to my ask box and said this to me?!

You sick, disgusting, creature. What the fuck is wrong with you? Setting Misha on fire?

THESE ARE THE DEATH THREATS TO MISHA THAT EVERYONE HAS BEEN TALKING ABOUT. YOU SICK FUCK.

Common sense? Get the fuck out of this fandom right now. I can’t…setting someone on fire? Gasoline on his crotch area? You’re beyond twisted, darling, and you need serious help.
If anyone dares go through with this and I swear to god I would hunt your ass down. This fandom is sick. Why am I apart of people who say something like this?

So a tumblr user named Tabby (url: assstiel.tumblr.com) on the 30th of May posts screencap of a anonymous message saying "I don’t know if it’s for real but some people have been getting these messages today":
We're declaring Thursday May 31st as "I HATE MISHA COLLINS DAY" (IHMCD). We are tired of Misha Collins and want him off Supernatural. Support us by sending this message to 10 other Dean/Sam fans. Then on May 31st log onto any social network site & post about why you hate Misha Collins. Take a moment to send an email to the CW asking them to have Misha removed off Supernatural permanently (or fired). Let's make this quietly viral to represent the majority! Follow us on Twitter @ IHMCD. *KEEP THIS MESSAGE PRIVATE*.
As Asstiel points out, there is indeed a twitter called IHMCD (now deleted) which had over 600 followers at the time.

As Misha's fan rush to report the account for "spam," someone tweets another Supernatural actor, Jim Beaver (@jumblejim), about the IHMCD campaign. He responds:

@jumblejim: @estherrrmarieee Aside from one's desires about a TV show, I wonder if they ever think how much something like this hurts. I doubt it. xx

@jumblejim So I get requests to tweet to get somebody fired and requests to tweet for a cure for MS. Which one's from a decent human being?

@jumblejim A handful of dipwads is trying to get Misha Collins fired. A lot more people are focusing their energy on humanitarian causes. Them I like.

@jumblejim It's a bunch of dweeb folk with jealousy & spite as their guidelines. Forget 'em. Go do a random act of good today. Tell 'em Misha sent u!

@jumblejim BTW, I'm certain Misha laughs this stuff off. He's got his head screwed on straight. He'd probably be amused at my attempt to defend him. :)

@jumblejim @Nunney2584 That's the other point. Nobody's getting "fired" because a bunch of dorks send emails asking the network to fire him. ‪#realworld‬

No one really expected Misha to respond because he rarely talks about fandom (and never mentions Supernatural on his Twitter) but he defies expectations, posting the same update to his twitter and Facebook (and adding a picture on FB): "Some jerks are trying to get me fired, but it's not gonna be easy because I've got seniority at the gas station where I'm working these days." Accompanied by a very bad manip of Misha working at a 1950s-style gas station, no doubt created by Misha himself with his mad Photoshop skillz.

Four of Misha's tumblr fans get together and declare that May 31st will be We Love Misha Collins Day instead and try to get #welovemishacollins to trend. They also collect pictures and submitted anecdotes from fans explaining why they love Misha Collins. (My favorite is this story, recalled separately, of Misha trying to get help for a homeless man with diabetes.)

The tweets draw attention from website Hypable, who report on it, and Kristy Walker, from endofshow.com.

Now, all this attention angers SPN: Silent Majority, who believe they've been unfairly associated with the hating Misha Collins campaign, who call the whole thing a hoax and claim it was orchestrated by Misha fans in order to make Misha seem sympathetic. Of course, there's another theory.

So who was responsible for the trolling? Was it a hoax? Tumblr doesn't log IPs of anons so there's probably no way to know. Only one thing is certain: Misha gives no fucks.

SPN Fandom Trolls a Troll - with donations!

[info]redcoast
Zephyros, a tumblr user with the URL 30secondstomurder, doesn't like Supernatural and decides to express their feelings on the matter:
This show sucks ass. The only reason I know about it is because my dumb ass little sister watches it in the living room, which is sadly where the computer is at.

The worst part of Superntural is the tumblr fans. Always clogging up my dash with fucking gifs and graphics, and they’re always the same fucking picture. IT’S NEVER ANY DIFFERENT. Always talking about how awesome Misha Collins is or isn’t - I’m gunna have to say he sucks ass, his acting is shitty and he looks like a hipster dad trying to be young - Always screaming ‘destiel’ or ‘wincest’ is the best pairing.

Always making gay porn images that look N-O-T-H-I-N-G like the Supernatural cast members and saying they do look like them.

It’s fucking irritating when I reblog a picture of guys kissing or fucking and I get a bunch of notes informing me that the Supernatural fandom has gotten ahold of it and are saying how much it looks like Cas and Dean, or Sam and Dean, then attaching shitty written fanfiction next to it. I’ve actually had to DELETE a lot of my rebloggs because it was filled with so much Supernatural bullshit.

So fuck you Supernatural, fuck you and all your fucking fans. In the ass. With a big rusty stake.

Fuck you Misha Collins for coming on the show and being all over my dash, you damn hipster.

Fuck you Jensen Ackles for lowering your great acting abilities on a shitty teen show.

Fuck you Jared Padalecki, I used to think you were hot but now you’re doing steroids and look creepy.

Fuck anyone following me that reblogs Supernatural, please remove me.

Fuck anyone I’m following that gets offended or posts Supernatural. I’ll be removing you shorly.

Misha Collins Trolls His Fandom. In Other News, Water is Wet and the Sky is Blue.

[info]duraniedrama
Misha Collins has a really hilarious Twitter feed with some 100,000+ followers. (He's also an actor on some TV show with a cool car or something as well.) While he will sometimes make an effort to use his powers for good there are other times when he uses them for the lulz.

This is one of those times.

I can't find the original tweet, but apparently Misha claimed that if that show with the cool car got on the cover of TV Guide, the network was planning to gift him with a live rhino and he promised to share it with his followers. The minions presumably massed on whatever online poll was involved and the TV Guide cover was won and the minions were instructed to send SASEs to obtain their fragment of rhino.

So we get this tweet:

Has anyone who sent in their plastic-lined envelope not yet received their rhino bit? I'm experimenting with something weird... Being fair.

Everybody who sent in an envelope before the arbitrary & unannounced cut-off date was sent a puzzle piece with writing on the back and somehow the minions had to contact others and put together the pieces to acquire an email address.

[EDIT: This is what people were sent. Thanks to [info]galletas for the image link.]

This was the email they got in response:

You do remember this is Misha Collins we're dealing with, right? )

[info]hils is very unhappy about this.

Someone asked Misha for clarification at the con yesterday and he said he hadn't really thought about the fact that he'd requested fewer items than there were team members but that he was sticking by the rule that anyone sending in a duplicate wouldn't count as being on the winning team. When asked what about the people who could only do something someone else has submitted his response was allegedly 'fuck them'.

So, naturally, the team members are now falling over themselves making sure they're the one to find whatever it is and not giving a shit about anyone else on the team. I've already had one girl jump in and submit the item I was supposed to be doing (giving me pretty much a 'fuck you' response when I called her on it). It's incredibly divisive and causing a lot of friction amongst people who were getting along just fine two days ago.

Sadly this just reeks of a social experiment to me. I'm just imagining Misha watching us all turning on each other and knowing that he made it happen with just a few words. It's just really disappointed me. I thought he was better than that.

Meanwhile on [info]spnanonhaven, the nonnymice are laughing their asses off.

It should be interesting indeed to see how this develops, since we're not even at the deadline yet. Given that the 18th of February isn't on Saturday until the year 2012, this may be going on for a while . . .

ETA: Link to the original rhino promise has been added. Hat tip to [info]omgpolarbear.

Woman Hating and No Sense of Boundaries in SPN FANDOM? NO. WAY!

[info]ilya
Misha Collins is the kind of actor that you want to be involved in your fandom. He panders to the fans, admits to having sampled slash fic involving his character, Castiel, provides manlove fodder for all, has been involved in previous wank for bending Jared Padalecki over on stage while his secret gay lover, Jensen Ackles looked on in horror, and asking the two during a con panel if it was difficult for them to play brothers on screen when they were lovers in real life.

Misha is really good about interacting with the fans. Toying with them through his twitter account where he likes to post his awesome nude self portraits, and plan out his world domination plot with his minions. He's known to be eccentric, so when pictures of him in a wedding dress pop up online, fans aren't really all that surprised.

It's all good at first. People get a laugh over it, and it's a welcome distraction from the impending season 5 finale. Though there's some fuss over the OP's original post which included the comment "(smart woman) (not very pretty)" in regards to Misha's wife. Then it's pointed out that the pictures were taken during the vow renewal ceremony of Misha and his wife, and weren't exactly meant to be public. Someone had just stumbled onto the flickr account of one of Misha's friends.

Generally, there is great love for Vicki (the wife). She is a well respected sexuality historian, who had a fellowship with NASA, and wrote the book 'The Threesome Handbook: A Practical Guide to Sleeping With Three', based from her personal experiences in being involved in a polyamorous relationship with her husband...Misha.

But here comes the wank:
Only pretty people are allowed to be kinky!
These were never meant to be public and I can't help but feel we're seriously invading their privacy. :|
This belongs is the kind of shit to be expected on [info]spn_gossip.
OMG! People are twitting the photo links to Misha! which soon devolves into "Yeah she's not that attractive in these pics"

Note:  Sorry mods!  Deleted this the first time around because apparently if you use rich text editing, the links gets messed up.
