This is like what happens when two squirrels meet across a park

[info]sepiamagpie
And now for some old fashioned people fighting in public that we can rubberneck at.

The gist: oakenshields13 and stardustcities run 1stclass Kink, apparently.

Emails have not been getting through.

Stardustcities makes a daring gambit. How will it turn out?

Well, apparently by Stardustcities not being a mod anymore.

Feel free to mock (or real) fight amongst yourselves.

edit: They've been here before

First class kink wank, mod vs. comm edition

[info]jkefka
Pointed at this little gem by a friend who peruses kink comms a lot more than I do.

1stclass_kink is a very popular kink meme based on some high school superhero drama or other that is ripe for the kinking. All is well, good, and kinky, and then the mod makes a rule clarification post. This ends well. )

TL;DR Kink meme mod makes unnecessarily snippy and nonspecific rule post, comm goes collectively apeshit and says stupid things, but at least they're keeping the argument out of the pr0ns (or at least the prompt post).

Oh, DeviantART... Never stop amusing me

[info]jhaelyn
So, finding wank on DeviantART is probably one of those fish-bucket things, but this one has been going on for at least a week and shows no signs of stopping. And has the potential to get all sorts of fun depending on what happens tonight! :)

This turned out to be much longer than it looked orginially, so have a cut! )

But in case that way too teal deer for you... I shall summarized!

1) Disney Art group ran by Mod #1 & Mod #2 on DeviantArt was hacked, everything deleted.
2) Mod #1 creates new group, invites somebody to be co-mod - not Mod #2
3) Mod #2 says "Wah! Mod #1 deleted everything so he can make his own group!" Provides group log screencaps to prove it
4) Mod #1 says "Nuy-huh! Mod #2 set me up as she is a big meanie!" Provides screenshot of DeviantArt message to prove it
5) Battles lines are drawn, people pick sides... and everyone else is all confuzzed to which screenshot is actually 'shopped. And I realize that I've been obsessively refreshing all pages involved several times a day and decide this needs to be shared.

ETA: borishu's Live Stream videos seem to show exactly what her screenshots do, although to be fair I don't have sound and the video quality isn't the best. So far all I know she's doing some serious evil cackling about how she'll get madameLEOTA and his little dog too! You can watch the 3 videos she did last night on her Live Stream account.. madameLEOTA has, as of yet, not responded to the videos.

That mod is a monster! M-M-M-Monster!

[info]dapperdinosaur
There is a little fandom for a line of dolls called Monster High. Tanz_fanatika is a moderator and owner of a popular Monster High com known as monster_high. All seem well, yes?

It is, until a secret appears on Fandom Secret (It's secret number 6). Apparently, someone isn't happy with the way Tanz runs the com. Someone named Nekusagi comments, claiming to be the ban-ee in the secret. It isn't long until an anon informs her that no, this is a different wank. A different person has been banned for saying things in an f-locked post, revealing this isn't the first time Tanz has pulled this kind of thing. The anon drops some interesting links from Tanz's doll blog. She's been openly talking shit on whoever it is that she has banned.

Tanz eventually shows up at Fandom Secret, as well as some of her friends. She insists that if someone has a problem with her they should tell her to her face:

"Then people you care about should have handled the issues with me directly. I gave the opportunity for communication."

"People who deal with problems directly are more respected than those who don't. There's at least a chance then that things can work out. But if you don't even try to communicate, then there's no chance."

However, when some DOES reveal themselves and questions her moderation to her face, she bans them. But it's totally because they call her out in the wrong place:

"Now, now, you know better than that. Challenging me here was not the right venue. If you genuinely had a problem and contacted me privately, this could have worked out fine. But you guys chose to gang up on me in public after ganging up on me in private. There's no saving that.

Go play in your own comm. I'm sure you'll have fun there.
"

And that's not even close to the wanking Tanz and co. is doing in that Fandomsecrets thread.

ETA: Thanks to mice at [info]wank_report for bringing this to my attention.

ETA 2: SF_Drama has reported on the wank too! Complete with more details, more wank and an awesome write up.

The internet will bend itself to my will!

[info]loopywafflehead
Thank you to the people on wank_report for this – I’m not familiar with the show or fandom, so I’m mostly using their write-up.

Rakspatel is a livejournal newbie and a big fan of Sherlock Holmes, including the recent BBC version. She likes it so much, she's set up her own comm, Mycrofting. According to its profile:

"Mycrofting is not MY community - it belongs to its members. My vision for this community is that it is run by its members for its members. All members are equal and I have set up the community so that all members can post whatever they want, whenever they want. There is no moderation in place (just as with Cumberbatchfans). I actively encourage all my members to post their own pieces direct onto the community site. I want to make everyone feel at home and able to contribute. I want to give everyone a voice. Mycrofting will therefore end up being what its members make it. Mycrofting is a co-operative enterprise."

Mycrofting, however, doesn't exactly do what it says on the tin.

Livejournal fandom is not the first place she's caused controversy. There's a wonderful collection here of stories and links to the problems she's caused elsewhere: Short version - DO NOT ENGAGE.

ETA's 1,2,3 and 4 under the cut )

ETAx5: Raks discovered the various posts about her, banned two members and informed the community that anyone 'attacking' the mods (i.e. her) would be also be banned. And since one of the other mods turned on anon commenting, everyone came out to play. The post has been deleted but thanks to the anons on the wank_report thread (which has kind of exploded), there's a screencap of the post that includes all but one comment and a cap of the final comment before deletion.

ETAx6: I don't even know where to begin. It's probably easier if you just check page four of this post (and the soon-to-be page five if Raks keeps this up, which she probably will). Includes comment deletions, bannings, un-bannings, a new community and, of course, screencaps.

ETAx7: Raks has now been banned from four Sherlock forums, including the community she created. Detailed write-up plus caps here. And if none of that was bizarre enough for you, enjoy some more WTF here.

While we wank of yuletide treasure

[info]goblin
Another year, another Yuletide wank.

On November 8, a provisional list of fandoms and characters eligible for Yuletide went up. Some 4000 fandoms are listed.

Discussions about what fandoms count spring up pretty quickly. Discworld has too much fic on AO3 to be eligible, but rachaelmanija notes that it's mostly crossovers and Yuletide fills. P_zeitgeist argues that her fandoms should be included because even though there's a lot of fic, it mostly sucks. But the real wank starts when people start noticing the presence of huge anime/manga fandoms on the Yuletide list. Franzeska brilliantly tells everyone that to prevent megafandoms like Hetalia and Fruits Basket from being eligible for Yuletide, "go lure people from those fandoms onto AO3 so it properly reflects their non-deadness."

And so the annual celebration of internet arguments begins!
Let's talk about eligibility and large fandoms, says birchsalt.
Let's not, say the mods. "Frankly, for us, this is a non-issue. We aren't terribly concerned that some participants might be "getting away" with something or that some fandoms that aren't truly rare/obscure/inactive are slipping through, or even that all the corrections get done, especially if that lets us open signup earlier and keeps us relatively happy and as unstressed as possible...Note: I'm leaving comments turned on, but I will not be arguing, defending, or explaining our policies."

There is nothing fandom loves more than being told they can't argue. Cue grumbling about basing eligibilty on AO3 content, bnfs, and favoritism

ETA: The final list is up.  Some of the big anime fandoms are out (Pokemon is still in, for whatever reason), Discworld is back in, and all the comments thus far are very reasonable and helpful.  Alas!  Even fail_fandomanon isn't wanking about it.

Looks like the frooforah is over.  I can't wait to see what happens next year!

The Whiteknights of Amat vs BRPS

[info]ilinana

It all begins when theamaranthe posts to Bad Roleplayers Suck about application problems at a certain community...a roleplaying comm for “a city that needs sex to survive.” They suggest that, instead of asking for multiple revisions and edits and generally stringing a player along, maybe they should just try telling a player they’re not wanted. A few comments sympathize with OP; but a few people think the OP has posted to the wrong comm and is TOTALLY JUST BUTTHURT and start high-fiving each other over their glorious smackdown of OP. That will show theamaranthe not to post to the wrong community again, and keep it to Bad_Mods_Suck! Remember the name itsafuckingsock—they show up later.

But this story is not about theamaranthe. No. This story is about blackwinged_dov and the rest of BRPS, against the horde of Whiteknight Socks of Amat.

Jimbo Wales vs. Fox News: The predictable result.

[info]farmercuerden
In Soviet Russia you hunt Fox, in Fascist America Fox hunt YOU!
--Wikipedia IRC channel comment.

Well, Wankas, it's time to wrap up this sorry mess. When last we left this probably-on-the-wrong-community-(oops!)-but-oh-so-wanky story - may as well finish it here, right? - Jimbo Wales had gone on a rampage deleting 19th-century art, and anything he thought was pornographic. There's a lot of wank, so I'm going to select some of the best juicy tidbits, and the rest can mainly be found on The foundation-l mailing list archive and the archive of Jimbo's talk page.

So, we begin with the big reveal: after edit warring to keep the images deleted, he finally stated why: Fox News was about to attack Wikipedia:

On the "Foundation-l" mailing list:

Much of the cleanup is done, although there was so much hardcore
pornography on commons that there's still some left in nooks and crannies.

I'm taking the day off from deleting, both today and tomorrow, but I do
encourage people to continue deleting the most extreme stuff.

But as the immediate crisis has passed (successfully!) there is not
nearly the time pressure that there was. I'm shifting into a slower mode.

We were about to be smeared in all media as hosting hardcore pornography
and doing nothing about it. Now, the correct storyline is that we are
cleaning up. I'm proud to have made sure that storyline broke the way
it did, and I'm sorry I had to step on some toes to make it happen.

Now, the key is: let's continue to move forward with a responsible
policy discussion.

Juicy details, but a little long for on the front page )
Jimbo on what he chose to delete

...I deleted some things that I assumed would be undeleted after a
discussion. I wanted us to take an approach that involved first
deleting a lot of borderline things, and then bringing them back after
careful case by case discussions.

That proved to be quite unpopular, and I'm sorry about it.

and

I had thought that a good process would be to engage in a very strong series of deletions, including of some historical images, and then to have a careful discussion about rebuilding. That proved to be very unpopular and so I regret it. It also may have had the effect of confusing people about my own position on what to keep and what to get rid of.

However, that didn't mean he actually wanted things to be discussed now:

I have redeleted the image for the duration of the cleanup project. We will have a solid discussion about whether Commons should ever host pornography and under what circumstances at a later day - June 1st will be a fine time to start.--Jimbo Wales (talk) 17:31, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

But, hey, Wales is Wikipedia's Godking. He'll come out of this fine, right? Sure, there's a petition for his powers to be removed, but it'll never happen, right?

Jimbo Wales, May 9th

In the interest of encouraging this discussion to be about real
philosophical/content issues, rather than be about me and how quickly I
acted, I've just now removed virtually all permissions to actually do
things from the "Founder" flag. I even removed my ability to edit
semi-protected pages! (I've kept permissions related to 'viewing' things.)

I do not want to be a tyrant or dictator. I do not want us to fight
about that kind of thing, as it's really a distraction from our work.

What I'm interested in is this video:
http://www.vimeo.com/8709616

Please watch it - it's 8 minutes long, and well worth it. This video
moved me deeply - it shows what our real impact on the world is, and I
think if you watch it, you'll feel the way that I did.

That's right, wankas, Jimbo Wales had to give up practically all his administrative powers over this.

Results

But, hey, the crisis was averted by Jimbo's actions, right? He said so several times:

"There was a crisis situation and I took action which ended up averting the crisis..."

"...as the immediate crisis has passed (successfully!) [...] Now, the correct storyline is that we are
cleaning up. I'm proud to have made sure that storyline broke the way
it did...
"

And so on! So, surely Fox News was happy that Jimbo made sure that they got what they wanted?

Despite Content Purge, Pornographic Images Remain on Wikimedia

By Jana Winter - FOXNews.com
Quotes from the report )

...Nope. Didn't help at all. (I should point out that Fox's report bears little relation to reality - the number of images deleted has been enumerated, and was about 400, not the thousands they claim, and note they don't mention they're talking about 19th-century and early-20th-century artworks until around the third page - but, then, if you know FoxNews, would you be surprised?)

----
ETA 1: How badly did Jimbo mess up? Even after he voluntarily gave up his administrative rights, people were complaining he didn't give up enough, because he might be able to take them back in future. Laaknor and and Avi "helped" Jimbo by fixing this loophole and a bug fix has been stepped up in priority because one of the view-only rights he kept so he could do his job had some administrative rights attached. [Other posts: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8]

ETA 2: Fox News mentions one image in their article as being particularly horrible. They give enough description that I was able to find it. It's this French cartoon from the early 20th century. Judge for yourselves whether it's worth the conniptions they have over it. And, yes, they're by an artist who's famous for his decadent illustrations of this type - but how dare Wikipedia include famous French artist!

Also, for those interested, here's one of the images Jimbo deleted personally, and wanted to delay discussion of restoring the file for a month.

ETA 3: Oh my god: It all makes sense: Jimbo was trying to completely purge Commons of anything the least bit controversial to kill the story, figuring it could be brought back in a couple months! Consider:

Evidence )
...He wanted to get Commons completely purged while attention was on it, then - and then only - allow the restoration of encyclopedic material when attention was off it.

...I'm stunned.

Jimbo Wales: Let's purge the porn from Wikipedia! Art and diagrams are porn too!

[info]farmercuerden
Right. This is a bit complex, and I should point out that I'm a bit involved with some of the wanking near the end, but I think this is too big to miss out here.

It began in early April, when Larry Sanger, arguably co-founder of Wikipedia, announces that he Reported Wikipedia to the FBI, alleging some of the hosted images violated the law.

There was brief discussion of this, but not much happened until this week, when Jimbo Wales decided to make it policy to purge some content from Wikimedia Commons, Wikipedia's image host. Jimbo Wales isn't actually in charge of Wikipedia anymore, but he states that the Foundation will be issuing a statement shortly. It includes the wonderfully double-think line,
Although there is a common saying that "Wikimedia Commons is not censored," this statement should not be interpreted to imply that we do not make editorial judgments about the appropriateness of content. We do, all the time, and we must.

And continues to him saying that "explicit sexual content and other imagery without serious merit [must be] deleted."

Admins are concerned about this, and begin editing the proposal, trying to make it into a workable policy. Eventually, it's edited into a policy with fairly widespread support, which excludes non-photographic works, allows works of historical, artistic, or other merit, and so on.

...And that's when Jimbo begins deleting 19th century artworks, diagrams and sketches meant to explain sexual acts, and so on. When Wikipedia has a bot which automatically removes all uses of a file when it's deleted, making it extremely hard to put files back.

And all hell breaks loose.

Finally, the Foundation issues the statement Jimbo said was forthcoming:

The vast majority of that material is entirely uncontroversial, but the
projects do contain material that may be inappropriate or offensive to
some audiences, such as children or people with religious or cultural
sensitivities. That is consistent with Wikimedia's goal to provide the
sum of all human knowledge. We do immediately remove material that is
illegal under U.S. law, but we do not remove material purely on the
grounds that it may offend.

Having said that, the Wikimedia projects are intended to be educational
in nature, and there is no place in the projects for material that has
no educational or informational value. In saying this, we don't intend
to create new policy, but rather to reaffirm and support policy that
already exists. We encourage Wikimedia editors to scrutinize potentially
offensive materials with the goal of assessing their educational or
informational value, and to remove them from the projects if there is no
such value.

...And after that statement, going directly against all Jimbo's claims, his actions begin to look even worse.

Total damage:

11 admins left the project.

Jimbo Wales took a big hit in reputation.

Jimbo took it upon himself to announce his intent to FoxNews, and Slashdot without telling anyone on the project about this, damaging Wikipedia's reputation as it now looks like nothing he said is going to happen as he did.

Calls for Jimbo to lose all deletion rights

And Muslim users are left wondering why images offensive to them, as they depict the prophet Muhammad, are defended, but not images Jimbo merely dislikes.

ETA 1: The rebellion has begun: Most of the undeletion requests from here down are things Jimbo deleted himself.

ETA 2: More wank in the last two threads here (at present, no doubt will increase.)

ETA 3: And, of course, as you do when someone in a position of power has become a huge troll, there's a petition!

ETA 4: Hoo... boy.

ETA 5: Jimbo evidently did this because Fox News was threatening his money supply, by trying to manufacture a scandal, and contacting Wikipedia donors about it. Isn't being paid to edit a bannable offense on Wikipedia? Not that Wales doesn't know a few things about taking money away from Wikipedia. And that link doesn't even include the attempt to get donors to Wikipedia to pay for a trip to a Russian massage parlour. UPDATE: Better, even wankier link about what's going on with Fox News!

ETA 6: My favourite of the new smackdowns.

(Just to note, everything on Wikipedia is archived (unless the founder decides to mess everything up - and even then it's usually visible by admins. That's the very definition of a Wiki. As such, I've been linking to a mixture of live threads and snapshots of points in time. I'll try to switch over to snapshots as threads close.

ETA 7: Hoo, boy, this has blown up so badly overnight. Widespread calls for Jimbo to lose all powers but that of a figurehead, him publicly revealing that he lied to the community about the reasons for his actions, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Going to give this a couple days, then make a new post updating.

The Paradoxers' Tale

[info]twinno
Prologue:
A little background, [info]fandom_wank, and then we can proceed
The Paradoxers are a clan that ship Sheldon/Penny
The show
Big Bang Theory is what these characters are on
Bill Prady is a writer there; that's your
sine qua non.

In lj's [info]sheldon_penny, a mod post there is made
Concerning their show's writer and the tweets he has forbade
He does not want to be scared off by "@replies," you see
So please don't send him links to fic or he'll be forced to flee.

The general consensus first is one of agitation:
"Let's not be dicks and send him fics; we need some separation.
Who could send something like this? Who'd do something so odd?"
Imagine, then, the comm's surprise: turns out it was a mod!

She says Bill Prady asked for it but it's not very clear
(One dedicated mousy capped before it disappeared)
Upon this revelation, some members backpedal fast
And others simply quiet down - you think this calm will last?

Epilogue:
The anonymice on [info]wank_report are those you should be thanking
They provided links and caps while they engaged in some more wanking.

Continued!
An ETA's in order, folks - there's been a change in wank
It seems these Sheldon/Penny shippers have really raised a... stank.
[info]arabian has tweeted* that she's stepping down as mod
And at new comm [info]spanon no mousy seems slack-jawed.

*thanks to [info]galletas for the cap. I don't think I could shoehorn your name into a rhyme even if I tried.

Reminder: Don't troll the wank. Lurkers, I'd much prefer it if you'd support me in email.

Once upon a time

[info]sisterelwood
Snagged from [info]wank_report with some edits by yours truly.

In the land of the internets, there was a community called [info]house_cuddy. For four years the denizens played and frolicked. Sunshine and lollipops ruled the day and unicorns ran free.

And then shit got real...

It all started on January 29, 2010, when someone spammed all over LJ House-related communities for merchandise from a Russian website. Most places ignored it but [info]house_cuddy fed the troll with added anti-Russia wank for extra measure. Mod, lissiePissie, deletes the spam and in the afternoon announces that things have been so wanky that she's put the comm on moderated status.

Nothing could possibly go wrong with that, right? Right?

Oh nay- within a few hours, that post is deleted and fellow mod fishingvegas announces that he has kicked out lissiepissie and will be taking over.

cut because this is getting too long )

OH SNAP- fishingvegas posted a response to everything-
http://community.livejournal.com/housecuddy_temp/3948.html DELETED

Yes, there were comments. I have caps of the first and third page which I will have up soon. He's gone through and deleted all comments.

EDIT: Here are the caps of fishingvegas' post along with two pages of comments before he got delete happy.
Page One with comments
Page Three with comments
Right before he deleted- disabled comments

EDIT AGAIN: And now it's back. Yeah, I don't know-

Why they didn't kick him out the first time they got control back I will never know.

The Not So Triumphant Return of Victoria Bitter, aka thanfiction, part 2

[info]snacky
Just some links that might have got lost in the faily shuffle of the last post:

His son? A bird. (PROOF!)

Famous last words. :( :( :(

Mods behaving badly.

[info]gusty
On the FurAffinity forums Techiewolf makes a post asking if they could help with the coding of the site. For years now, the site has been promising the arrival of a brand new version of the site's coding called 'Ferrox'. 'Ferrox' could be considered sort of a Duke Nukem Forever thing, as very little progress seems to have been made (if any) and there's no definite release date. The user is informed that any coding help needed would be towards 'Ferrox' rather than the site's current code. All goes fairly uneventfully until Vitae (a former mod) comments: "I wouldn't bother trying to help, every time someone does try they're just shunned and tossed into the garbage at the end."

Mod Tsawolf, who also is a coder for the site, doesn't like this sentiment one bit. So he decides to make a post allowing users to decide what Vitae's punishment should be via poll:

Hello, everyone! It's tsawolf, your (second) favorite mainsite ops nerd! You're probably wondering exactly what the hell this thread is all about - and for good reason! A user posted a thread asking how they could help out with the mainsite coding. Several people were helpful, some were... not so much.

(quotes Vitae's post here)

When I read this, I became a sad techie. FurAffinity loves when people help out! Rather than have the administration punish Vitae unilaterally, like we normally would, I decided to do something a little more... fitting. Since Vitae was complaining about how useless helping out is, I decided to put their punishment in your hands. Directly above me, there are several poll options. Whichever poll option has the most votes at the end of tomorrow (that is, 00:43 Wednesday, EDT) will be Vitae's punishment. Feel free to suggest your own in the thread as well!

Some folks jump right on the bandwagon and start suggesting punishments. Others, however, aren't too thrilled at the idea of someone being called out and punished for having an opinion.

LadyMissie: "Someone stated an opinion? Holy mother of FUCK. You have some serious butthurt. God damn."
blackfuredfox: "welcome to life. this is how things function in life with EVERYTHING. after awhile you stop giving a shit and join in.

And some people are just there for the laughs:

Brazen: "Permanently change his username/title to Lord Sillynipples, and his avatar to a pair of cartoon boobs wearing tophats and monocles."

Takumi_L:"Man I failed a test today but I told my professor that there was some SRS furry drama on the internet so he passed me."

And finally, mod Carenath expresses their opinion of people upset by the post:"Okay, so we have established, that you guys have absolutely nothing better to do, you all win 9000 internets *roll eyes*"

It's interesting to note that for a brief period the thread was closed, and then reopened, the reason for which was never mentioned.

ETA: On Tsawolf's user page, LeoMidori asks: "Excuse me, I know I'm not a moderator or anything, but is this really the appropriate way to act? This is public humiliation."

Tsawolf replies: "As I explained in the thread you linked, the punishment (or rather, the decision thereof) fits the crime. It can hardly be considered public humiliation when the user chose to make the post in the first place! :)"

Paula makes more sense than this.

[info]loquaciousquark
Say you're a member of ontd_ai and you're getting a bit tired of the fanfic posts, the idol appreciation posts, the way a particular mod runs things, and anything else you feel doesn't fit the ~true spirit~ of the community. There's only one thing to do!

Start a super-secret elite comm where you and 26 of your friends (including some ontd_ai mods) can plan the upheaval of the 5000-member community, including abrupt fanfic banning and gif trolling of appreciation posts and anyone who objects, or course!

This involved heavily trolling an appreciation post for Megan, one of the AI competitors from the latest season, with gifs and insults. EDIT2: Found it! There are pockets of drama all over the place, but the big stuff is on page six here.

this is getting long, so i'm cutting it )

Hetalia Moderator Wank

[info]rose_tyler
I do believe this is my fandom's first wank! I'm oddly excited.

Hetalia: Axis Powers is a popular webcomic turned anime about personified nations of the world (yes, really). There has certainly been controversy over the series, but it's not too bad a fandom, considering the enormity of the fandom and its propensity for slash (Hetalia is full of canon slash after all).

Not today though!

[info]hetalia, the main community, has over 13k members. Yet despite that (and its average thirty plus posts a day), there are just three mods. This a story of [info]a_liger, [info]midnightbanshee, two of those mods.

The wank starts when [info]a_liger makes a post in her own journal about how the profile needs to be overhauled over at [info]hetalia to cut down on unnecessary posting and such. This appears to be all fine and well, until [info]a_liger insinuates that she feels as if she is the only mod who does work. [info]midnightbanshee agrees that the profile page needs to be revamped, but is otherwise very displeased.

When [info]a_liger asks if she has any other suggestions she eloquently replies with: Yeah. How about not acting like a self-important pompous ass? I'm sure mods who communicate with each other respectfully without making grandeous claims of LOL BEING THE ONLY ONE TO DO THE WORK would work better. Lots of good wank in that thread, as a few people duke it out with [info]midnightbanshee.

[info]midnightbanshee also takes a moment to ominously reply to [info]a_liger: Next time - assuming there is a next time- please run through the proposals with the other mods before posting for opinions from your friends. I have gotten in touch with Youko. She is going to have a word with you soon, I expect.

Flit over to the Hetalia anon-meme, where the anons are quite annoyed (there are loads of threads, starting on page twenty). They like [info]a_liger for the most part, and decide that the rational course of action is to troll the community. So they do, but according to the anon-meme, only one troll post is put through (also, many of them apparently did not even know [info]midnightbanshee was a mod). This is a cap of it: Prussia has a nice butt.

Then [info]midnightbanshee takes it to the community. She decides to lock down [info]hetalia and put it on moderated posting for twenty-four hours due to 'various reasons.' In short, all hell breaks loose. [info]grele calls hypocrisy, and it just goes downhill from there. Lots of tl;dr and skirting the issue from [info]midnightbanshee, and lots of tl;dr from other posters as well in addition to members wondering why a troll is considered an emergency, beautiful voices of reason, a gold star, etc. And as much as this lockdown supposedly had little to do with [info]a_liger's post, she keeps getting brought up.

[info]midnightbanshee spends quite some time talking back and forth to a troll. A few more threads, then here comes [info]herongale, a friend of [info]midnightbanshee. She tells us that [info]a_liger's post looked like a powerplay(!) and wonders if [info]a_liger is scared of her fellow mods. Many people respond.

Wank is possibly still growing. We'll see how it turns out!

edit: Fixed the few errors in the post. Guh. That's what I get for writing this out at six in the morning.

Someone criticizing your fic on your personal journal? Call a mod!

[info]jkefka
Here's a very small but absolutely delightful fic wank courtesy of the mousies of [info]wank_report. I will say now that, to the best of my knowledge, all involved are 18+, though not all of them had ages posted so I can't be sure.

[info]ravenette2506 is am member of the small Alex Rider fandom (Alex Rider is apparently some teen spy book series I'd never heard of, but the wank is good anyways) and the yassen_alex community. She posts a fic of this pairing in her personal journal. [info]frayer shows up to give some constructive criticism (or "concrit," apparently? You kids and your crazy portmanteaus). To paraphrase: "your fandom tends to do a lot worse but this isn't bad, oh and this line bugged me." A little harsh, perhaps, but not overly nasty. But it's on a personal journal, right? If the author objects they can just deal, delete, screen, whatever.

Or not.

'The Mod Signal! Quick Boy Fapper, to the wankmobile!' )

ETA: Bahleetion! Luckily, [info]harumph has provided a cap for your entertainment. Also whoever linked them here is FAIL.

ETA deuce: OH NOES TEH HAXORS

ETA god my poor thesis: More cappage courtesy of [info]_goblin_! And may I repeat: mousie who trolled the wank, you are a failure among failures. (Now with the original "concrit" courtesy of [info]killer_gopher and [info]sisterelwood)(AND MORE!)

ETA FOR FUCK'S SAKE IT'S ONLY BEEN LIKE TEN MINUTES SINCE THE LAST ONE: Not content to rank among the mousies, SuperMod has appeared to slaughter us all with his/her/its passive-aggressive smilies! :)

ETA of genuine interest: This shit's getting weird. OK, so, we had bahleetion, then some helpful mouse showed up with a link to a cap which turned out to be capped by Yaseanne and was promptly deleted. The twist?

The "helpful mouse's" IP

abrandnewboom's IP

Yaseanne's IP

So...either these two are in collusion to both keep the wank alive and try to act all superior about it being trolled or we've got some crazy-ass sockpuppetry and IP hiding going on. Yeah. I don't even fucking know.

ETA FTW: And this, ladies and gentlemen, is good modding. *salutes*

I demand ANSWERS! And I refuse to tell you the question.

[info]jetamors
So, what's got the mod of owlblot so mightily butthurt? (Preemptive caps, since I'm sure this post won't last.) Who are these mysterious people she's demanding answers from? What is threatening the future of the community so badly that she has to suspend posting in every Watchmen community she moderates?

Does it have something to do with this person? Or perhaps a private grudge taken public? Apparently we're just supposed to know these things: And if you STILL do not "get it", then, dears, you just don't get it. Many other people have been able to understand why I am doing this; the number of people who (for what ever reason) are not able to grasp the meaning behind this post are less in number. Thus, I am left no other option than to assume that the fault does not lie with me and my post but that the problem lies within you and how you are trying to perceive it (or failing to perceive it, whichever one works).

Me, I'm just sitting back with a bowl full of popcorn and looking forward to the next installment in this drama.

ETA: The mod speaks: "I was told some people were not liking where the comm. where going. I didn't know who they were specifically so I had to make a big public post about it" And AFAIK all three comms still have posting suspended. Yeah, I don't even know.

Buffy wank on Twisting the Hellmouth.

[info]bacon_lover
Twisting the Hellmouth is a Buffy fan-fic site mostly for crossover stories. Awards are given by popular demand in different categories.

JoeHundredair, who is apparently a moderator on this site, decided a winning story written by mrmiklos contained too many grammatical errors and spelling mistakes… that the story was “sufficiently bad to prevent the majority of readers in enjoying the story”, and so quarantined it.
The reasoning:
After reading the start of 'Sunnydale Berserker' by MrMiklos, I sent him a review suggesting he acquire a beta because as an award winner, I felt his story should reflect a far higher quality of work than it did. In other words, we voted it the best, so it should be better than other stories on the site... right?

Upon further review, JoeHundredair and other moderators say ‘just kidding’ and decide the grammar/writing isn’t really that bad. However, the story was not properly classified as a ‘multiple crossover story’ when it was submitted to the site, and awards are not given to “multiple crossover” stories. So TtH removed the award from MrMiklos; a second author, Marcus Rowland, also has his award stripped for the same reason.

Marcus Rowland handles this with some grace.

mrmiklos does not, and flounces off.

Only he doesn't fully flounce off, but sticks around to fight some more.

JoeHundredair continues to comment back, with CAPSLOCK to EMPHASIZE some POINTS.
Abuses of power and vedetta abound.
Ignotus, a commentator, tries to keep perspective:
You know, this reminds me of something that I saw happen at my local library the other day. That situation was resolved quite easily... the mother took the kid home.

Wank continues.

Edited to make links work, hopefully.
