Bleach calendar wank

tetradecimal
So, there's this Bleach calendar, and it's released by Studio Pierrot, and it features the cast drawn as various figures from Japanese history.

But Bleach fans can't seem to decide whether Orihime is dressed as a generic samurai's wife, or Murasaki Shikibu, author of The Tale of Genji. Likewise, is Rukia a geisha or Atsuhime?

Bleach shipping wars: The wank that keeps on giving!

[info]ladyofviolets
* feeds the mousie from wank report before C/P'ing starting*

Chapter 422 reunites the Great Bermuda Triangle of Bleach Wank, with Ichigo obviously giving a lot more attention to one side than the other...

Start your wank engines! Obviously, HUGE spoilers. )

Stay tuned for next week's installment, when Rukia and Orihime both get more panel time and we find out wtf Ichigo's problem is!

ETA: Naruto Fan people have something to say, too!

Son of an ETA: Grudgewank or not?

I love the smell of upcoming Bleach wank in the 'noon.

[info]ladyofviolets
Small, but quite delicious and bound to grow. It involves Bleachness and Yulieana, after all. Thank you, wank report mousies *feeds cheese*

Troll sends Kubo a comment saying that they wish Orihime was dead. Kubo gets angry. Bleachness records it, and stresses that he wasn't talking about them, only about trolls who say those horrible things about her. (As if they didn't say horrible things about her)

The Ichihime FC on BA picks up on it, and discusses Kubo standing up for Orihime... It also has a translation of Kubo's (pretty awesome) smackdown of the Orihime-bashing troll.

Yulieana picks up on this and makes a post, which draws its complaints not from BA but from locked comm FLOL.

And Bleachness keeps rolling! ETA: And rolling! And rolliiiiiing!

Let's stay tunned to see how this goes on...

ETA 1: Grudgewank or not? You decide!

ETA 2: I'm glad I don't like hate comms!" Yeah, sure.

The Bleach fandom is wanking again! Old news, what about it?

[info]ladyofviolets
Taking this from wank report. Thank you, mousie! :*

Background: Meep meep! SPOILERS HEEEERE! )

Shit gets started in the Inoue Orihime FC at Bleach Asylum. Mods have already been deleting the choicest wank, but look for FW favorite Yuliana leading the charge.

But wank can't be escaaaaaaaaaped from! How dare you dislike her, you're evil! How dare you like her, she's a whore! )

As usual, wank moves to Bleachness, where wank is officially discouraged except when it is courted and encouraged.

You want a proof? Here, here! )

And there you have it. Orihime apologists rape their mothers. How DARE anybody like her.

Bonus Wank! -- FW alum sleepwalkerrrr is also present, and white knighting so hard it’s kind of cute.

ETA 1: Wank Round 2! Why are so soooooo co-dependent on that asshole Ichigo and NOT on Ishida-chan or Ulquiorra-sama, huh?

ETA 2: Karenai is a tiiiiiny bit bitter because Orihime commits the sin of existing.

ETA3: Whenever Yulieana opens her trap, insanity pours out.

ETA 4: Orihime sucks because we say so! Let's ignore all canon saying that she doesn't and add emoticons to make our claim stronger! :D xD ^_^

FYI: IchiRuki are fucking SOULMATES, goddamn!

[info]syncopation
So there's this video about Bleach voice actors who were at Kawaii-Kon, an anime convention hosted in Hawaii, where they were questioned about possible romantic preferences for the young man they provide voices for. Johnny Yong Bosch (JYB) is the voice behind Kurosaki Ichigo for the English dub, while Morita Masakazu (MM) is the Japanese seiyū for the dashing hero. No, he's not really dashing. More like cranky.

the toobs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQfkhEK04jE

Then someone dared to ask the million-dollar question: do they prefer RUKIA or ORIHIME for Ichigo?

In summation, JYB & MM both said "Orihime." So there!
OH. HELL. NO. Voice actors aren't allowed opinions! )
But this series isn't about ROMANCE!!! )

Bonus references to Avatar: the Last Airbender wank here.

This has been a busy, busy week for Bleach fandom! I have some caps, but tinypic keeps re-sizing the images.

Finally, a friendly reminder to my fellow wankas: don't feed the trolls.

:throws cheese to mousey for collecting links:

Aww, ETA's for breakfast? You're too kind! )
We have contact! )

Edit 3: Fandom Wank's name was dropped like it's hott. [info]jaseroque got a special mention for the translation.

Edit 4:The wank levels up! Or uh... Bankai. )

Bleach, in my Incarnate? It's more likely then you think.

[info]platedlizard
Thanks to [info]wtf for the Write up at [info]fandom_lounge.

Alrighty. It seems that Nick Simmons, son of Gene Simmons, is a comic book artist. And a huge fan of Bleach. So huge that he apparently copied from it wholesale. Especially Orihime and Captain Badass, er, I mean Kenpachi. But not Byakuya *is secretly a Byakuya/Kenpachi shipper, ZOMG THEIR LOVE IS SO EPIC AND TRUE!*

Ahem.

(ETA He swiped from a whole bingo card worth of fandoms. Hellsing 1/2, Deathnote, FMA, One Piece, Naruto 1/2, Deadman Wonderland, Lupin the Third, Neon Genesis Evangelion, More Hellsing with touch of Death from Sandman, various artists on Deviantart, and probably a few others I've forgotten about. The most blatant stuff is Bleach and Hellsing)

Bleach fans mobilize on Twitter, LiveJournal, Facebook and Nick's Deviantart.

VIZ and Kubo Tite respond on Twitter. A rough translation for Kubo here.

Nick's publisher responds:

We at Radical Publishing, Inc. and Radical Comics, Inc. are quite concerned to hear the news surrounding Nick Simmons’s Incarnate Comic Book. We are taking this matter seriously and making efforts now to contact the publishers of the works in question in an effort to resolve this matter. We have halted further production and distribution of the “Incarnate” comic book and trade paperback until the matter is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties. Rest assured that Radical is taking swift action regarding this matter and will continue in its efforts to maintain the integrity and protect the intellectual property of artists throughout the world whose creative works are the bedrock of our Company and the comic book industry.

See RDR Books? This is how you respond to situations like this.

Comic Book Resources and Anime News Network on the issue.

ETA 4: A couple reviews on Youtube pointing out the problem SIX MONTHS AGO! Here at 2:53 and here at 3:56. "This is just another horror show of copy write infringement."

ETA 5: Yulieana is Yulieana. And proves that it is possible to bring shipping wank into everything. Thanks [info]schoenschoen!

Return of the ETA: Nick Simmons kinda sorta apologizes. New York Times arts blog.

“Like most artists I am inspired by work I admire. There are certain similarities between some of my work and the work of others. This was simply meant as an homage to artists I respect, and I definitely want to apologize to any Manga fans or fellow Manga artists who feel I went too far. My inspirations reflect the fact that certain fundamental imagery is common to all Manga. This is the nature of the medium.

“I am a big fan of Bleach, as well as other Manga titles. And I am certainly sorry if anyone was offended or upset by what they perceive to be the similarity between my work and the work of artists that I admire and who inspire me.”

Thanks [info]reeve!

Hey someone do me a favor? I suspect that that spine-thing Blondihime attaches to Mot and Chadichigo's spines might have been swiped from Blue Beetle. You know the scene where the Beetle welds itself to Jaime's spine and it's all glowy and blue and you can see every vertebra. But I don't have any scans of either scene so I can't check myself. Thanks tetradecimal and [info]perletwo! I think at most it was inspired by BB, the poses are too dissimilar, but you decide.

Yulieana, the one-woman wanking machine from the Bleach fandom!

[info]ladyofviolets
Thank you, kind mousey from wank_report!

Crystaldawn doesn't think that IchiHime shippers are so bad. So she writes an essay about it, debunking some of the "myths" about them... (Thanks for the exact link, mariem_1)

Yulieana (from these wanks) finds out. And she is not happy AT ALL.

Feminism is not about celebrating and encouraging women! Bullies must only be dealt with through hitting them back! A True Woman should NEVER EVER become a teacher! And samurais do not belong in Bleach. That's what Yulieana says, after all.

And as a bonus, Fandom Secrets seems to have some things to say about her...

ETA: Aaaand she saw us. Now WE are the stalkers, the bad "feminists" and the wankers, according to her and Co.. =D

ETA 2: "I wrote an eleven page essay in reply to yours!" "And I think you're such a BITCH for not fucking replying to her on it! Not from Yulie herself, but still damn wanky.

ETA 3: Why ship wars are awesome! IDK MY NOT BFF YULIE? Thanks, lady_ganesh!

ETA 4: And the whining bout CD's essay FINALLY reaches Bleachness

Fanart: Serious business. Shipping: EVEN MORE SERIOUS.

[info]lady_ganesh
From a mouse on [info]wank_report and using some of their language.

[info]copper_cakes uses a picture as her Livejournal background of the Bleach pairing Ulquiorra/Orihime. Unfortunately, it was a commission, and the artist and the person who paid for the art let her know. She takes down the image, and apologizes for using it and causing them trouble here.

Sounds straightforward, right? But you forget: this is Bleach and Bleach is serious fucking business. Not only is stealing wrong, [info]copper_cakes is a LYING LIAR who only really ships Ichigo/Orihime!

No, really. )

Small, but tasty in its utter detachment from any sense of perspective.

EDIT: Yes, you've seen Yulieana before.

EDIT THE SECOND: Yulieana...um. Responds, I guess?

EDIT THE THIRD: Moar caps! Were people actually buying wedding dresses? Spill the details, folks! EDIT THE FOURTH: This may be an exaggeration. BUT IF YOU HAVE BLEACH WEDDING DRESS ART, PUT IT IN COMMENTS, I'm bored and LJ is slow today. Bonuses for boys in dresses.

EDIT THE FOURTH (NO, WAIT, THE FIFTH): Where are my wedding dresses, bitches? Yulieana compares [info]fandom_wank to Fox News (can I be Shepherd Smith?), some girl I don't know to infamous lawyer "Jake" Thompson, and takes a sideswipe at Johnny Yong Bosch. Dude, dissing the Black Ranger? So not on. Get it before it's locked!

EDIT SIX: Thanks for the wedding dresses! Oh, and neutrality is simply impossible when it comes to Bleach ships.

Two ships enter! One ship leaves!

[info]schoenschoen
Courtesy of a kind mousey on wank_report, and also of my flist, we have Bleach wank!

Over on BleachAsylum, Bleach fandom's own personal Thunderdome, the mods make a new rule about linking to things in signatures. Apparently, the forum users have a long history of linking to inflammatory ship essays in their sigs to snipe at the other side (the most famous one being called "The Lust Arc = IchiHime FAIL", so you can probably see where this is heading), so the mods finally stepped up and made this rule:

19. No links in signatures to sites that bash forum members/mods/Bleach pairings or anything that BA members could more than likely find offensive (especially in case of shipping, this includes shipping essays etc). Yes you may be mature enough not to click and read such sites but others aren't and too much of a big issue is being made out of this. To save anyone anymore problems we are just banning this from BA.

Seems easy enough to follow, right? So naturally, quite a few people have run afoul of this new rule!

The first cries of oppression go up on [info]bleachness, [info]_debbiechan_'s personal fanwork community (for reference, it's listed as being geared towards IshiHime, but most posts revolve around IchiRuki and occasionally UlquiHime). Highlights include calling the internet lawyers, 'did you know I'm a BNF?', rallying the troops, and this comment about Freud and the 'wretched special snowflakes' in the IchiHime fandom. It also seems that debbiechan is not happy that people are putting her comm in the same category as FLOL, the locked IchiHime forum (among other things).

Next up, we have someone named [info]yulieana, who had a bit of a run-in with the BA mods over this unfair new rule herself. Herein, we have a massive entitlement complex, Godwin's Law, and more cries of censorship and oppression. But really, her entire LJ is a barrel of laughs, since it seems like all she ever posts about is how much she really, really hates the IchiHime pairing. EDIT: OH NOES, bahleeted! Anyone catch a screencap? Apparently, the people who were posting their sympathy in the entry are now hanging her out to dry on BA, too. Edit^2: Oh, never mind - she's right back to crying about censorship again. I'm screencapping this one, since we lost the beauty of the first one to the ether. :( Edit^3: Thank you, [info]galateus! The beautiful original is gloriously saved for posterity! Edit^4: And Yulie is now banned from BA! But that's okay, because F_W is stalking her and she's famous now! :D

And finally, there's a very wordy entry here about the evils of censorship in regards to message board signatures.

If there's more to this, I haven't seen it yet, but more is guaranteed to trickle in, since it seems like half the fandom is in an uproar over it.
